I've found the best way to avoid being killed as Mercy is to keep as much of your team in sight at any given time, so you can boost to them with the Valkyrie Suit out of danger when you're being targeted.
Works better on some maps than others... Watchpoint: Gibraltar is a good one for that tactic due to all the LOS blocking cover

This happens to me far too often, and my team always yells at me for it, even though there's not much I can do about it in-flight

when tracer actually hits me with that ulti, some times i panic and spin around hoping it landed on the ground or something. more times then not i end up getting some of my teammates killed by not flying away as d.va
on a side note got me a pentuple self destruct last night

This happens to me. I'm basically a magnet for hooks and fully charged Widow headshots, and it's gotten to the point where if the POTG is from an enemy I'm almost guaranteed to die in it.

Oh, and whenever you fly to someone, they die en route, leaving you to gracefully touch down in the enemy team.
And when you're jogging back to the fight after respawning with ult ready, three teammates go down, but they're all respawned by the time you get there.
I like playing support, but some matches don't make it easy.

I played Overwatch tonight for the first time in ages.
I had a little go at Sombra in Skirmish, but there was always a person playing her in the actual games. She seems neat but one of those characters that takes a lot of time to learn. - She very much seems like a Tracer variant but with less damage and more trolling.
It was Symmetra that I spent most of tonight playing as. - I had read that she was getting redesigned but whoa... I think I ended up with 21 kills and 2 deaths in one game purely due to turret placement.
She also seemed to be winning faceoffs with Sombra, Mercy's, DVA's (out of suit), and even a couple of Tracers (albeit not amazingly played tracers), plus a few other types, just by virtue of being in the right environment (EG smaller rooms).
So yeah, thumbs up for the new Symmetra. - Haven't quite nailed down how her new shield ult works though, or using her moving energy shields as anything more than a fire disruption thing to throw off the enemy.
