Mercy has never been a hero that should be yelled at, and still isn't. That behaviour against you boggles me, but I guess it's to be expected.
In other news, I got Origins Edition for my birthday  I can expect to have a PC to play it on in the next week or so too. Finally it's all coming together

Ana (before the changes) had arguably faster healing, and we still don't have another AOE Healer/Speed Booster like Lucio, but I always thought Mercy was a solid pick. A good rez can easily save a push/defense

I find her decent inclusion. I don't know the level you play at, but Mercy pick isn't going to throw games at lower SR intervals. Team coordination and decisions during the game is going to be way more important. The problem with Mercy is that she relies heavily on her team and the feeling of being powerless in certain situations made me pick Ana or Lucio. Although nowadays I hardly pick Lucio as his heal aura feels insignificant and most players I play with will spam the need for healing.

Iv seen her in sever higher level games
and god damnit if you let her live she can easily reset an entire fight which is BAD. she can be 100% clutch but at the same time she isnt consistent which is why people dont like her.
also really bumbed about the d.va nerf
i might have to find a new main.
i enjoy playing her as a bully (going after bad positioning and escaping people) but not she wont be able to do that as well
less damage and less survivability means that i cant confidently get in and out. though only time will tell. i like the idea of more bullets but i dont PTR so i will reserve my opinion for that part later.

I still think the key to a balanced D.VA isn't to allow her Mekka to survive longer, but rather to allow Naked D.VA to get her Mekka back faster. Reward those who take the time to 'finish the job' by getting her off the field for good, while those who just peg her Mekka down then leave her to run around on foot have another Mekka to deal with in seconds.
Granted, she already gets her Mekka back quickly, but still. A little faster passive charge on Call Mekka would be nice, for when you're safe, but know you can't poke your head out to take potshots.

IMHO i feel like they just need to figure out what she is supposed to do.
they nerfed her all around instead of focusing on her aspect
personally i dont mind if she has less survivability IF she had more DPS. being able to go in take out a guy. or if she is meant to be more sustain damage then less dps but more survivability
right now she lost both and she cant do ether that well.
if they wanted her to be a true tank like rein then her DM needs to be buffed a bit to be usable longer but right now its like a 4 second use then a 8 second cool down to get it all back.
personally i rather her go towards DPS because i feel that is her personality

They did make Roadhogs hook even dumber. I mean seriously. I cannot rail in a Lucio, because he stubbed his toe on a tiny rock... Yay.
They should make it a second/half a second stun before it pulls. Then at leasts it's your own fault when someone gets off the hook.Everyone can just waggle off behind something before they get pulled in at the moment.

After a couple of months off I decided to give the game a run again, I really dislike the constant revision and changes to the characters and with the new match formats I am running into insane amounts of lag and incredibly long waiting for match pairings which I didn't have before. They just keep tweaking the game to death.
I gave myself the best Christmas present possible and permanently uninstalled.

Well that's a problem with Overwatch; these constant tweaks are needed in order to maintain at least a reasonable degree of balance. I'd at least go as far to say that there is are no longer overpowered and underpowered heroes thanks to the tweaking. Compared to the Beta (or as Desu put it right, the Dark Times of Overwatch) we've come a long way, in a good way.
Shame to hear you've uninstalled. Maybe you'll reconsider in the future

We had this discussion a few pages ago, I think - Symmetra may be better, but she still isn't OP. When she gets a buff to her HP/Shields, then we can discuss her being overpowered.

And people need to remember that, when characters get tweaked, you need to give them a good while for players to get used to those tweaks. There's going to be counters in terms of hero pick and player/hero behaviour that have nothing to do with numerical changes, and those take time to show up and spread.

Since you mentioned the Hook, I've heard that the new fix has made it break very easily if you drag your target through even very small objects. Seems to be a big problem if that's the case. Can anyone confirm?

I thought (and I've heard nothing official on this, btw, just seen a single stream with the new mechanics) that all they did with the hook was fixed the 'line of sight' thing, where if you break LoS with the 'Hog, the hook unhooks and you don't get pulled.

DVA is an odd one. I keep forgetting she's considered a Tank character... I mostly use her as a harassment type character... but only when I know we got a good stake on the point or payload. Even then when I harass its mostly patrolling; I'll zoom out ahead and aggravate... or I'll patrol around back or sides to make sure we're okay... I like that her 'heftiness' along with her mobility almost allows her to be a one person scout team like that; zoom in, lay down some fire, zoom out. If I get a kill great... if not I've gotten their attention, maybe even have them exhaust some abilities or draw them from focusing on the main assault or goal.
I'm not very good with actually 'tanking' with her aside from lining up my shield just right so others can benefit from it... or maybe the above can be considered a kind of damage mitigation? haha
Her weapons can be pretty devastating whether in the mech or even on foot (if you work on your aim); I've gotten a decent amount of kills in either mode.
I've used her successfully in comp... but they were only placement games which seem to me more forgiving if your'e deviating from the meta. Ever since I got placed this season I barely touch comp. Just frustrating to always end up playing healing support (Lucio, Mercy, Ana) because nobody wants to heal or experiment outside of whatever the meta is at the moment (or at least it seems that way in lower lower comp where I'm at).

Back in the Beta she was very much a type of backline assassin rather than a Tank much like you described, which was pretty funny; this new nerf to her armour has just slashed her durability again, so maybe we'll see that playstyle return.

Was just watching some Korean D.VA play on the 'tubes, and it was rather interesting.
She was being used as a Tank, but rather than frontlines (they had a Reinhardt for that), they were sort of using her as a 2nd story and 2nd Rank Tank- keeping her in the backline so that her Matrix could nullify certain attacks (burst stuff, ults, that sort of thing) but her primary use was to fly up onto the higher ledges and draw fire away from the main chokepoint. I may have to try some of that on Defense now. The map was Eichenwald, and they were holding the enemy at the initial arch, using D.VA to keep the enemy from gaining a foothold on top of the wall.

Well she is known as a poor man's (or rather poor girl's) Reindhart for a reason  Reindhart will always be the king of absorbing enemy fire, but D.VA's a lot more mobile, so she serves well as a second line of defence, as well as an impact shield for Reindhart against high DPS attacks that will destroy his shield in short order (such as Soldier: 76's attacks).

As a D.Va player, she did need a bit of a nerf. Removing/reducing her self immolation when she ultimates was huge, and made her much different in play. Her double life is a big win as well, given that it gives players the ability to long range plink/spam shots while hiding and coming back. The other tanks are also easily shot up and cannot jump out and start over again.
The 'weaker' Rheinhardt should be Winston, but he cannot because his shield doesn't last long enough and the cool down is too long.
Roadhog getting nerfed hurts though. He wasn't exactly the super duper choice. His gun is short ranged with a very small clip. The hook is also more for breaking up formations/groups/messing with opponents. Getting kills out of it is a bonus, not the purpose of it.
I'll also say, Solider 76 is probably one of the most balanced characters. He doesn't have a ton of health, no super duper abilities, he only has 25 rounds in his rifle (as opposed to miss bottomless clip, Sombra), his health drop has a long cool down, and while he can sprint he cannot attack while sprinting. At short range there are much better choices, and at long range you have McCree, Ana, Pharrah, Hanzo, Widowmaker, and MEI to work with (MEI being the weakest, but having been headshot with an icicle from across the map on more than one occasion, don't forget it/her).
