Kanluwen... yeah, I think you ought to take a break from this thread- especially if you don't have a high opinion of Overwatch in the first place.

This is a thread sorta meant for people who are fans of the game- if you have issues with it, that's fine- it's even fine if you air those issues. But defending opinions often devolves into a flame war online, and I think that's something nobody wants.

Hehe. It'd be funny if we ended up with skins that did variants for character attacks as well- so, like, Mei would have a 'Farenheit 451' skin where her attack animations all look and sound like fire, or have Reinhardt's Coldheardt skin throw an ice wave instead of the fire strike.

Yeah, the main lesson I've learned from this past few pages of this thread is never play a game of anything with Kan.

Soldier has a weak overall Ultimate. Avoid the initial opening and pound him from the side. It only really works to get a kill vs Pharrah or if the oppsing team is shot up. His health is only 200, enabling foes to kill him fast when he busts it out. Situationally it can be okay, but it does not clear a point like Hanzo,McCree, D.VA, Junkrat, or MEI does.

Having played a bit of Winston lately, compare D.Va to Winston to illustrate how ludicruous her kit is. She's got comparable mobility, better defensive utility and more armor (and HP!). She's got better damage and a much better ultimate. She also gets a mulligan from death every now and then. Winston's got better mine sweeping and doesn't have to aim.

Winston's a fairly 'weak' tank, though, in many ways. I think the lower armour to health ratio, and low damage, was meant to counteract just how fast you can get in the backline with his jetpack (which is, actually, a slightly better mobility option than D.VA's, though it is on a longer cooldown.)

The thing that makes Winston what he is, is that he's a Backline Disruptor more than a tank- he should be played more like a flanker, but since he's in the Tank category, people think they can stand their ground with him. Honestly, he's possibly a little mis-placed, but there's noplace better. Personally, I think that's another tic in the 'remove character 'class' designations and just have a single wide pool' column.

Winston loses a lot of things for three main benefits: His jetpack, his ulti, and his ability to have a shield up while dealing damage. He kind of needs a buff/change though (an M2 ability?), as his main thing is picking off healers which doesn't work against coordinated teams.

Oh but when your team doesn't know how to protect the fething healer he can do great!

Similarly, he's a godsend when the enemy's got an annoying Widow, or Lucio, and he's actually really good against Genji as well.

I do think an M2 would be nice- maybe a concentrated beam or burst? Sort of like Fan the Hammer, but with lightning. Ball Lightning? Keep it short range, but make it a high-damage single-target thing- maybe a Taser mode, where it's straight up Melee range and he pokes you with his lightning stick for 100 damage using 30 ammo, or something.

Just played one of my placement matches. Got Nepal. For some reason one of my teammates decided Bastion was an excellent choice on Nepal. In the hands of this player, at least, it wasn't.

EDIT. Aaaand another one where I did the most damage as Ana. HOW?!

Any tips on not completely losing morale when soloqueuing? I don't see how the hell I'm meant to be able to play well enough to climb. Sure, "blame it on the team" is the excuse of the weak, but winning 5v6 (effectively) or when you're outdamaging Soldier and Junkrat as Ana is borderline impossible.

Soloqueue is a downright hell to be honest. Try and get into a Duo or more. It'll make things a little easier, especially for teamwork.

I tried to Soloqueue once... Oh boy, never went back into Comp again. That place is a cesspool if you go in alone.

Let's put it this way: I've dropped ~550 rating since last season because my placement matches were absolutely unwinnable. I lost and won a few of them to "legitimate" issues like being outplayed, but four or five losses to people trolling or being atrocious just isn't fun.

The basic rule of Comp is that the more people you queue with, the more control you have over your team's effectiveness. Duo queuing is much better than solo queuing, and so on. You don't even need friends to queue, just people who will consistently communicate and in general work with the team.

As for a Winston buff, the things that I've heard that sound good are either giving him some sort of of CC/disruption M2 ability like an uppercut that pushes an enemy up into the air (makes him combo with Widow/Roadhog, pop them up and airshot/hook them) or reducing his cooldown on his pack by 1 second (making him the most mobile "tank") and making his bubble block 100-200 more damage. Some things that I don't really like but would be okay with if they happened are a damage buff, a climb ability like Hanno/Genji, more armor/shield, a peanut butter heal ability, and changing his ult.

Comp has issues. One that really bugs the hell out of me is when one team member drops and the rest get stuck with the cycle of matches and no possible chance of winning. You are stuck with the knowledge that dropping out as well will hurt ranking and staying to play is going to just suck.

Nothing so fun as being a 4 or 5 man team, on maps that go 3 or four rounds and knowing you'll be punished for not saying 'thank you sir may I have another boot to the head'. In about 20 or more occurrences, I think I've only legitimately had a shot 2 maybe 3 times, and only 1 of those where we won (largely because the other team was utterly horrid, and probably managed 5 kills amongst all six players)

I've been on that loosing end quite a few times, and it's just as bad as the 'everyone is a lone gunman' approach with a full team.

They should do a Terracotta Warrior skin for Soldier. All muted browns/clay colors with bits of old paint in the crevices.

I was halfway hoping for Valentines and a Cupid skin for Hanzo. Never play as Hanzo, but thought it would have been funny.

Couple hundred more of those coins and I can get that highlight intro I want.

And after about 210 loot boxes I FINALLY unboxed something for Zarya.

The Winter event was nice to me in terms of coinage. Got up to 2000, was able to buy Bastion's Steambot skin, and D.VA's Junker skin (or scrapper? The one that's shinier).

Still working towards the 'all steampunk lineup'.

Scavenger is the army green one, Junker is the bright orange one

The skins are nice. Next on my wishlist, I want a Soldier POTG intro that isn't boring and that one Zarya skin from Heroes of The Storm.
