mega armoured warboss, lukky stikk, in a full artillery unit of kustom mega kannons. a mobile T7 unit with a rerollable 2+ at the front and 3+ at the rear. anything AP2 is looked-out to a grot krew, killing a 3 point model. and more importantly, it kicks out 5 S8 AP2 blasts a turn, and can launch the warboss into something squishy when it gets close.

305 points, for 33 T7 wounds on a 2+ rerollable save. Beat that.

I'd probably just mind wurm you with big zeke and neuter him sure you have lots of would but what good is that if your initiative, ws, bs, and leadership are all in porcelin piss drain. I mean really here you'd just be out of a job and inoperable basically the entire game as you can swing all you like a bs/ws 1 warboss at initiative 3 with a leadership of 6 why your no more threatening than a rhino proxied by a teddy bear.

The Swarmlord with a unit of 3 Tyrant Guard is pretty hard to take down. That's a lot of T6 wounds. Plus, if you have a Venemthrope nearby, you will be getting at least a 5+ cover, typically better.

Counters can apply to most units. The thing about some blokes suggestion is that it still has incredible firepower even when not in combat. It's not highly manoeuvrable though. A big mekk with KFF makes it even more insanely durable. Could be swept easily in combat however.

Great Unclean One. Sure it's somewhat reliant on gifts and powers, but there's really almost nothing that can deal with a T10, 7W model with Shrouded, a 3+ save, 4+ Invuln, 4+ FNP and IWND. Even if you only hit maybe 2 or 3 of the defensive stuff, it's exceptionally tough.

Any Grey Knights HQ, grab the Bone Shard of Solor. Use Allies and have them summon some Bloodletters. 2++. Even better if you have Precognition.

Sure that's super tough, but then you immediately have to start fighting your ally. At least you should have to, fluff-wise. Now your 3W 2++ (in a Paladin unit with Apothecary and Librarian; FNP, Deny the Witch on 3s rerolling1s, Invis, etc) are fighting an uphill battle in which you are now EXTRA outnumbered.

Decked out GUO are always my favorite tanks. Deep strike them in your enemies face, and if you get lucky with rewards they are near unkillable. If you get unlucky, they are just tough as beans to take down.

The best CSM sponge I've found is crimson slaughter lord with daemonheart, MoT, SoC, Disc of Tzeentch, with be'lakor casting invisibilty on him. T5 with 2+/3++, IWND, and Invisibilty.

Alternatively, a lord with MoN, bike, daemonheart, SoC with be'lakor casting invisibility is also quite the bullet sponge with T6, 2+/4++, IWND, and Invisibilty. Worse invulnerable save but doesn't have to worry too much about S10

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

If you just want to tank small arms and not rely on random psker powers or gifts for survival the t8 3+ Wraithseer is notable. Not as generally durable as the GUO, but immune to s4.

So a warboss charging with 5 attacks at S10 AP2 initiative 1 (oh look, don't care that you lowered my Initiative) isn't that scary because "he only hits on 5's"? and 5 S8 AP2 blasts that only reduce scatter by 1", boo hoo, still hit 1/3 of the time due to the scatter dice.

still, yes you have shown a way to lessen the effective output of this unit. but let's not forget the brief here:

Best Bullet Sponge

so it's irrelevant that you can make it harder for me to hit, lower my leadership and all that. what's important is what happens if you shoot me. how many bullets can i soak up? the answer is lots, and lets remember that my unit was still only 305 points, you'll be the one pouring points down the toilet to try and get rid of them.

By the way, who'es "Big Zeke?" is that a reference to Ezekiel, who, to my knowledge, is T4 and has only got a 2+ save to protect him? If only I had an abundance of S8 AP2 somewhere...

Seriously the Dark Artisan Haemonoculus is insanely survivable.

He can have a 3+ FNP, 4+ IWD, 3+ Armour save from shooting and he has a shooting toughness of 7, plus when it gets to turn 4 he's got Eternal Warrior.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

He's been ferried through hell on a ship that's ten thousand years old to some godforsaken, war-torn rock; He is one of ten million men snatched from his home to fight a war he barely understands; He wages war against devouring hiveminds, ravenous demons and hordes of hyper-advanced aliens with strange technologies and sorceries he never dreamed existed; no one will remember his sacrifice, there will be no records of his deeds, no glorious parades in his honor, and no remembrance of his name. All he will earn is a shallow, unmarked grave on a forgotten world untold lightyears from home.

Yet for all this thankless sacrifice a Guardsman is a man, just like you. He has no millennia-old genetic engineering, no prophetic leader, no miracles of faith. He has his lasgun, his orders, and those beside him. He is the Imperial Guard.

And he will hold the line.

Flying nurgle demon prince. 6+ to hit, 2+ cover save, can't be hit by blast and template. Strikes at I8 in cc with 5 million BM attacks and 1 shots everything that resembles a thread, I.e. swarmlord. Yeah I'm a bit bitter

DLS megaboss and a bunch of grot gunners.
2+ rerollable t7. All that can cost less than 150 pts. If we're talking bout trolltastic... Add a few points and you get extra gunners or guns that are also great and able to fire on the move now.

Corbulo, 3+ armor followed by 2+ FnP with a once per game reroll. Pass off s8 attacks with a 2+ LoS or tank anything else with very close to the infamous 2+ rerollable.

I have saved units from an entire unit of dakkafexes without taking a single wound, tanked entire mobz of 30 boyz 100 attacks.... very little can compare to Corbulo small arms fire tanking.

Corbulo with a BA Bibliotecary in TDA with Storm Shield is even better: you put corbulo in front, 3+ armor save with 2+ FNP, and use a Look Out Sir for all AP3 weapons (2+ armor save plus 5+ fnp).
Even with plasma you save it with 3++ followed by a 5+. Only lascannons and melta trouble you since they ID your bibliotecary making it extremely risky

However the best one by far is a Tzeentch Daemon Prince, if he gets Iron Arm (75% if you take 2 of them with ML3) and FnP 4+ (either from Greater Rewards and/or endurance) you get:

2+ rerollable Invulnerable (you have to use the Grimoire though)
T8
Eternal Warrior
Feel No Pain (4+)

Technically you may have access to one or more of the following:
Hit only on 6s (swooping/invisibility)
It Will Not Die

It happened to me to play with such a prince in some given turn when you are lucky with powers and use them all on a Prince which needs to tank a ridiculous amount of damage (think of 40 power kaws rerollable attacks from a kind of Ork deathstar with "Da Lucky Stik" or whatever it is called)... invincible

Agree with the biomancy- and gift-laden Great Unclean One.

Yes, there are things which are harder to kill, but virtually nothing that's as cheap and as lethal.
