My brother and I are going to a Team Tournament 1000pts each. You must each bring a HQ and Troop then share the force org after that.

Here is what we are bringing:

Me (GK)

Librarian - Lvl 3
5x Strike Squad
Dreadknight - PT, Inc, GS
Dreadknight - PT, Inc, GS
Imperial Knight - Battle Cannon Variant

Brother (SW)
Thunder Wolf Lord - 2+, 3++, Helm of ? (Reroll something)
8x Blood Claws - Melta, Drop Pod
10x Grey Hunters - 2x Melta Drop Pod
3x Thunderwolves - 2x SS, PF
4x Thunderwolves - 2x SS, PF
Drop Pod

This meta is extremely competitive and the last time we went we brought a meh list and first game faced:

Belakor
3 Heldrakes
Shadowsword
Spawn star

It was ugly so we are being a little better prepared.

Reports either tonight or tomorrow.

That is a strong combo, though I've got to ask, why the 3rd drop pod? Is it just so your other 2 pods can come in on T1?

I will be cheering for you. But seriously, Space Wolves and Grey Knights aren't the best of friends, fluff wise. I always run Grey Knights and Eldar, who are better buddies.

We were going to do Purifiers but we wanted to use my Imperial Knight because my wife spent 3 days painting it. Also my purifiers arent finished.

Yes the 3rd drop pod is for the Strike Squad if we want them up front or we will walk the Strike Squad on or we will Nemesis Strike Force them. It gives us a little tactical flexibility.

We know that GK and SW hate each other but sometimes the Emporer demands...

Going to do a quick update. (only took pictures of first game)

First game vs Chaos Daemons

Nurgle DP - Wings, Armour, Lvl 3, 4+ FNP
11x PH
11x PH
5x Screamers
9x Fiends

4x Heralds of T - 4x Discs, all ML3, Exalted that becomes true names
11x PH
11x PH
9x Screamers

So these guys are very solid players so we thought this would be our toughest game.

We are doing a test run for Adepticon using their modified Maelstrom. (Not good we did not expect a turn by turn obj grabbing. Our army is not set up for that.)

We seize.

Turn 1 (Sorry I lost the paper I had written down on all the obj.)

Overview sorry I missed almost everything with the picture Screamer star is at very top right along with Nurge DP.

So we decide to focus heavily on the right side. (Fiends and PH) Mostly ignoring the Screamer Star.
Shooting, even with Prescience, was lackluster we do a total of 9 wounds spread across 4 models even with the incinerators and the Battle Cannons (scattering off) and the Heavy stubbers. (He saved 14 of 23 on a 5++) He lost 0 models :(.
Chaos Daemons Turn 1

They move forward with fiends and DP. Star stays put.
His magic phase gets him a Lvl 2 Herald of T. and Cursed Earth. Not much else happens.
He assaults my dreadknight with his DP and his fiends assault the grey hunters.
DP does 2 wounds to my Dreadknight and I only hit 1 time and roll a 1. :( Would have been instant death on a 2+ if he failed his 5++.
Fiends flub their attacks and only kill 3 GH
Turn 2

Imperial knight moves toward DP, wolves move up to assist with fiends, blood claws move toward pink horrors.
His DP does 2 wounds again to my Dknight (I fail to save) and IK destroys him.
We wipe out his fiends.
Our warlord and unit have been capturing obj so right now we are up 4.
Chaos Daemons Turn 2
At this point they realize they are in trouble.

The screamer star moves forward, his pink horrors move onto obj and stay back
His psychic phase is good. He gets 2 more HoT then his PH's kill themselves to become a Blood Thirster, also summons 3 plague drones (all this is after Cursed Earth).
He fails his Grimroire so turbo's his screamer star away.
Turn 3
It got tense so I forgot to take pictures.
IK goes for bloodthirster. Wolves, GH and BC go after one of his 2 remaining PH, Dreadknight goes after last one.
IK kills bloodthirster in cc. PH die, dknight wipes out 4 in cc which takes him out of cc.
I believe we are up 5 at this point and all he has left is summoned plague drones, screamer star, 1 ph, and a summoned herald.

Chaos Daemons Turn 3
He gets our backfield obj that is controlled by Strike Squad 2 times, except if the obj is out of his deployment one of those obj is worth 2 points. He gets cursed earth off again, summons another herald, summons another bloodthirster, summons more screamers.
Fails Grimriore
Charges strike squad but only 4 can attack and they fail to wipe out the strike squad so it is contested. His other obj is to make 3 charges worth 2 pts. He achieves this.

Turn 4
This will be last turn. We are up 3 and he will kill the strike squad, we figure our best move is to tie him up with our warlord (Thunderwolf) and his unit as the IK needs to capture an obj and we also draw the 3 charges for 2 points.
We charge with the warlord and make all other necessary charges. We wipe out his plague drones and pink horrors.
In close combat with the 5++ screamer star he causes 4 wounds. We fail all 4 3+ saves (he didnt use the ap 2 atks because we had stormshields). Because of that only 2 thunderwolves get to atk and we kill 0. He also wipes out the strike squad and we flee of the board. This nets him Slay the Warlord and garuantees he gets the objective.
We are up 6.

Chaos Daemons Turn 4.
He rolls his obj and gets the exact same obj again for a 3rd time again worth 2 pts because it is out of our deployment. So that is 5pts right there. Sadly he couldnt get his other one and we both have Linebreaker.

We win by 1.

Never has a win felt so empty. We felt we played a solid game but some bad rolls and them summoning another 986pts really hurt us. Losing our Warlord hurt too.

Strong army. Our store played a similar event last weekend, except the pairings were random! So not only did you not know who your opponents would be, you didn't even know who your teammates would be either! Luckily I was paired with a decent player all three games, and ended up winning the tourney undefeated with SM/IK. The Knight was a game-winner in all three games, so I expect you guys will do very well.

It sounds like the dice in that game were just awful...9 Fiends kill 3 GH with 36 ws5 s4 rending attacks? Gheez...But well done. It looks like you guys played a good game.

Do you think it would've better to take care of the Screamerstar first turn instead? Try to shut down some summoning? I know with your dice rolls it wouldn't have changed anything, but in principal I find that shutting down a summoning screamerstar down early is important

Its always a pleasure playing you too! Turned into a nailbiter when the Thunderwolf Lord fled!

I have to say I think your list with the tweaks you mentioned will be nasty.

For the tournament you said IK arent allowed is there any other stipulations so we can give you a game with a legal army?

Hey team Hendricks,

Jeff here. The Adepticon Team Tournament rules are up. And one team member can take an Imperial Knight. Check the rules out posted here in the Tournament page. You guys should get a team together and attend Adepticon. It'll be fun. I am hoping that a lot of the Draxtar players will attend Adepticon.

The axe has dropped and changes will be implemented. As we mentioned in our game the list Rynner and I brought were the weakest combo of the 4 lists in our team. And it showed, with us failing the Grimoire without the help of Kairos reroll. I was really hoping that the Fiends can be useful, but throughout the 3 games they barely did a thing. So they are the first units to be dropped and now replaced with even more Flesh Hounds. Other glaring issues we had was time. We need to have the game go at least Turn 5 and on to get any effect out of conjured Greater Demons and other stuff.

Your army combo was well put together. The Imperial Knight was a big concern of ours, and we had nothing to handle it other than the Screamers. But failing the grimoire a few times, relegated them to the backfield and objective grabbing.

Good game. Hope to see you guys at Adepticon.

Yes your lists will be very strong.

Interesting to see them do the 0-1 for Elite, Fast Attack, and Heavy Support. Negates people drop podding in SW pods I guess. Wonder why they did that.

We probably wont go to Adepticon as its to expensive but we would be more than happy to give you practice games if you ever need it.
