Just hope you don't encounter warmachines. I honestly feel that Nagash is not as great as everyone fears and as your only caster of Ryze and ION wil be hard pressed to get both. Most players will bring a Lv 4 and a 1 point advatage is not much. Your opponent will most likly have a Dispel scroll or similar item/rune. If its Dwarves, a successful spelleater rune has just hammered your ability to regenerate or spawn. IMHO Nagash is not worth it at low points.

You don't have the power to push through those spells. Nagash casts as a level 5 Wizard, sure, but that is no better then a Grey Seer using Warp Stone Tokens, and no one complains about them.

There are ways to help you push those spells through, for example the Hierotitian and the Casket of Souls help immensely. + D3 power dice + D3 to casting makes him a force to be reckoned with even on a bad magic dice turn. Don't worry about having t give up the bulk of your army to strengthen Nagash's magic phase, because once he gets rolling he should make up his points in summoning alone.

AHEM. Morathi.

But seriously, drop Nagash for the Mortarch Mannfred and just use the 4000ish points you save to get a wizard or two.

Looking at the points limit and the dudes profile pic, I don't think dropping Nagash is an option he would like to consider.

Yep, I *kinda* want to keep Nagash, even if he lowers the competitiveness of the list. Anything else, though, I'm fine with changing. How would replacing the Warsphinx with 5 hexwraiths and a squad of Crypt Horrors do? For spells I plan on Nagash having EVERYTHING from the Lore of Undeath, the Signature from lore of vampires, and the others being generated randomly

Nagash should be taking all of death, 2 vampires and ryze.

I think he'd be better off summoning, since he has the x3 boost, no?

I agree. Use his greatest force multiplier which is his ability to summon. In 2-3 good magic phases he can bring his points and more and thats only the first half of the game

If your opponents have nothing left, you don't need to summon.

The only summon he really should be casting is Kandorak for the gheist.

Doesn't that basically assure that everyone will focus downing Nagash before he reaches them, more so than usual? Atleast with summoning you can quickly make screens to distract them.

A few things:

1. Nothing is going to make me focus more or less on Nagash. He's friggin' Nagash.

2. If you really want to use him, I say you need tons of chaff to protect him. Dire Wolves, Fell Bats, Carrion, and Spirit Hostes.

3. Isn't it 50% of Lords and Heroes? So, at 2000pts, Nagash is your one and only character?

4. What're you bringing monsters to the table for? Just summon those bad boys. What you ought to be bringing to start are the things that'll help Nagash push those big bad spells through: the Casket, the Titan, and/or the Engine.

If your opponent has cannons, your first goal should be to summon a mess of Crypt Horrors. If not, seems like Terrorgeists, Grave Guard, and the like are next on the list.

Unless you play empire or dorfs, you can't kill Nagash. Case in point. I took Morathi(all death) a combat peglord and a peg BSB, in a dark elf net list.

All my opponent had left was Nagash. With bolt throwers shooting him every turn, darkshards peppering him, and warlocks six dicing a boosted doombolt every turn( I lost one warlock to miscasting) he had taken one wound at the end of the game. He healed two wounds. We played for eight turns. Short of purple sun, final trans or dwellers, armies without cannons cannot kill Nagash or KFA.

Ryze is really good in Nagashs hands.
16+ to summon 450 points of monstrous infantry is fierce. It's 11 crypt horrors, 9 Vargheists or 9 Ubshati.
Vargheists fly and have plenty of reach. Crypt horrors bring poison and T5 for great tank and grind. Ubshati give you S6 if you need more hitting power.
If you are going up against an elf army, lore of death is kind of lack luster, and super summoning tends to work better.

So what are you plans to deal with Cannons, Nagash?
Summon shooting units then shoot/ scream cannons and other dangerous units.
Oh Right. Problem Solved.
