Okay, as far as Rune Priests go: the Space Wolves (Russ included) geniunely believe that their Rune Priests' powers come form Fenris itself and not the Warp. This was just something they were taught and believed, no matter if it was true or not. The Rune Priests were around from before the Legion's conception, so don't go raggin' on the Space Wolves for the cultural brainwashing they were subjected to.
As far as honor goes: Honor is just your code of conduct, what you believe to be right or wrong. To me, war is not dishonorable, as you are just trying to kill the other guy before he kills you- self defense. To me, there is a difference between killing somebody honorably and beating them dishonorably, winning a fight honorably and dishonorably. If you caused a person excessive amounts of pain in their death, and dragged it out, that is dishonorable. But, if you just killed your opponent, that is not dishonorable.
My personal code of honor is to never do anything that I know will make me feel guilty. I have a very strong moral compass, so this has never led me astray (so far).
Honor is subjective and is a personal code of conduct on the battlefield and in life. Even the Alpha Legion has its Code of Honor; loyalty to the Emperor and to the Legion. They may not share the same values as other Legions, but they still have their moral values (aka Honor).
The Pre-Heresy Dark Angels' Code of Honour was honesty in all things, loyalty, brotherhood (the opposite of post-heresy)
Khorne's Code of Honor is kill the strongest opponent.
You see, these are all personal moral values, not something that is universal.
And yes, honor does have its place on the battlefield.

Do you think Russ to be a simpleton?
He is a Primarch, He knows Rune Priests tap into the warp, To think otherwise is to think him to be a fool(not far fetched though considering his actions).
And the fact they were "brainwashed" does not absolve them, Just like the existence of the nails does not absolve the World Eaters.

Obviously the Nails absolve the World Eaters, that's like saying having a demon possessing you doesn't absolve you of any murders it commits using your body.
And it doesn't matter if he was a simpleton or not, belief is a powerful factor, especially in the Imperium. Even if he knew that the Rune Priests drew their power from the Warp subconsciously, he still wouldn't recognize it consciously because of the depth of his belief.
Also, for all we know, the Rune Priests draw their power from an alternate universe besides the Warp. If the Necrons can access infinite Universes, it only makes sense that others would be able to as well, even through biological abilities instead of through technological ones.

I remember some sort of a tale about a viking that robbed a house. On the way back he realised he acted dishonorably cause that was practically stealing. So, he returned and killed the inhabitants of the house. Cause stealing is bad and pillaging is oki.

Often it is those that are on the losing or disadvantaged side that complain about the honor or dishonor of their opponents, when their opponents do not hold themselves to certain expected restrictions or expectations (i.e. "You didn't fight in the manner I expected or wanted you to so you are dishonorable"). However warfare is not about necessarily matching strength to strength in some sort of straight headbutting contest, but matching your strength to your opponent's weaknesses.
As an interesting aside, the samurai of the Kamakura period at the time of the Mongol invasion were an interesting example. The Mongols had made landfall on the Japanese islands. Accustomed to firing off whistling arrows to signal their presence, reciting their pedigree and then squaring off in a series of one on one duels with warriors of equivalent pedigree, the samurai were taken aback when the Mongol army literally laughed (according to a Japanese source) and attacked en masse. The samurai were getting beaten badly, forced to retreat, and it was only the intervention of storms that would later become known as the kamikaze that saved the Japanese from being defeated. The Kamakura samurai fought in the expectation of duels of individual warriors in "fair" fights. The Mongols were focused massed warfare, tactics, and strategy, and not about duels.

The Mantis Warriors were an honorable Chapter. The Carcharodons were not. The sharks fought with the good guys. The Mantis Warriors didn't.
The sharks beat the Mantis Warriors into surrender with dishonorable tactics, which the Mantis Warriors responded to honorably and died honorably to.
When Badab Prime cooked off, the sharks killed more loyalists than the Mantis Warriors did.
It's up in the air.

That sentence is so wrong, The nails do not suppress a person's personality entirely like Demon possession does, So they entire point you've made is wrong.
UGH THIS JUST MAKES ME INSANELY MAD, HOW DO THEY ACCESS AN "ENTIRELY DIFFERENT UNIVERSE" WHERE AHRIMAN CLEARLY MET THAT PSYKER WOLF IN THE WARP?
Just drop it, You're trying to hard to protect those who cannot be protected.
