Subject: Creating a Blood Angel successor, how do these color look?

I love the play style of the Blood Angels, not so much the fluff. I like the Angelic themes but not really the vampiresque parts. Just personal preference. Anyway, a lot of the successor chapters I see, either GW or personal are painted pretty much the same, black and red. I want to create my own with more of a focus on Angelic themes. Attached below is the color scheme I'm thinking of using, just pretend that the yellowish color is shiny gold like the sanguinary guard. I think it will look good as long as it doesn't come out too bumbleeish. Thoughts?

He's been ferried through hell on a ship that's ten thousand years old to some godforsaken, war-torn rock; He is one of ten million men snatched from his home to fight a war he barely understands; He wages war against devouring hiveminds, ravenous demons and hordes of hyper-advanced aliens with strange technologies and sorceries he never dreamed existed; no one will remember his sacrifice, there will be no records of his deeds, no glorious parades in his honor, and no remembrance of his name. All he will earn is a shallow, unmarked grave on a forgotten world untold lightyears from home.
Yet for all this thankless sacrifice a Guardsman is a man, just like you. He has no millennia-old genetic engineering, no prophetic leader, no miracles of faith. He has his lasgun, his orders, and those beside him. He is the Imperial Guard.
And he will hold the line.

I like it. Maybe with a bit more red though? Red fists and/or shoulder trimmings?
Be interested to see how it turns out. Please post some pics? Recommend grabbing that triple pack of space marines you can get to try it out on.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm planning on putting the squad markings on in red. I'll post pictures when I get some painted to see how it looks. Automatically Appended Next Post: Maybe some red on weapons too

I like it. Some more red to balance out the Aquila would be good, but don't think you need red because they are Blood Angel successors!

It looks more like a successor to Imperial Fists.
Just with a little more black added.

Have you considered the lamenters?
They're a BA colour scheme with yellow armour, more of a lemon yellow than the orange yellow you've shown but that might work better for a blinding angelic visage that you're angling at?

I like it. The only similarly I can see is with the red and gold of the Minotaurs, but the black and your symbols/markings will make them notably different.
Remember that a lot of successor Chapters don't share colours with their parent chapter at all, for example the Genesis Chapter (red) look nothing like Ultramarines. It anything, they'll share elements of heraldry, so I'd work some wings or blood drops into whatever Chapter Badge you come up with.

Looks good. Nice and simple. My only advice would be to perhaps rethink the feet and just make them the same colour as the rest of the armour. I've seen it done before and sometimes it can look like they're all wearing sneakers... or in this case, Mr Men shoes. I'd think about leaving the belt gold as well for the same sort of reason.

I think it looks good. The comments about blood Angels icons and heraldry are solid. Good luck and look forward to seeing pictures.

Just a fluff bit, only the elite of the elite in a BA army are permitted to wear gold, as it was the same colors their primarch wore, and they *really* don't like people wearing it outside the higher ranks. They see it as an insult.

With the way the painter looks, yes it looks like Imperial Fists. Although like I said in the OP, they will painted metallic gold which I think will distinguish them from the yellow Imperial Fists. Automatically Appended Next Post: evildrcheese wrote:Have you considered the lamenters?

Yeah I considered the Lamenters. Thier fluff if awesome but I don't really like the way yellow looks. Reminds me too much of the Angry Marines lol
