Worked on the command squad today. Finished the basecoats and some washes. Not sure if I like how the banner looks. What color should I do the letters on it?

Maybe a charcoal like skavenblight dinge

Try the same colour as your tempestors coat ?

Thanks! Taking a break from the command squad and working on my second Taurox. Finished the basecoat of Castellan Green and am now applying some Agrax Earthshade. After I finish the command squad and Taurox I have a commissar and a few more Scions that need to be painted. Then I'll be done collecting Scions for a while and will go back to working on my Imperial Guard force. I should be getting a Cadian Defense Force box set in the mail soon. That'll keep me busy for a while!

Second Taurox so far:

Command squad looks really good allready. Can't wait to see it finished. When that Cadian Box comes in we'll be in for a treat. good luck and keep it coming.

Just finished with Agrax Earthshade and drybrushed Loren Forest across the entire model. Next up is Leadbelcher on all of the silver areas.

Try doing the letters in blood, for grimdark
Or if you want them to contrast a lot, try ochre, sand, or even black!

Finished Leadbelcher/Nuln Oil on all of the silver areas. Next colors will be Balthasar Gold/Khorne Red, but I'm going to go back to working on the command squad now.

I still see that and think "The armed and armor car is here for the excess vault cash!"

Ended up working on the Taurox some more. Finished the Balthasar Gold and also worked on the Autocannons. Next up is Khorne Red.

Late Christmas present

What set are you going to use for your HWS?

Finished assembling the Cadian Defense Force. I've seen a lot of people paint the tracks separately so I figured I'd give it a try. None of the Leman Russ's weapons are glued to it because they all fit into their slots pretty tightly. Now that these guys are assembled, time to get back to work on my Scions.

Worked on the Command Squad/Taurox this evening. Didn't do too much, started on their faces and did some highlighting. Also painted Khorne Red on the Taurox and Averland Sunset on the missiles/lights.

Ive been lurking about your thread for a while. Its really great to see a whole Tempestus army put together and painted up nicely. Well done sir.

All that's left on the Taurox is some weathering/damage. Other than that I think it's pretty much finished. I'll be working on adding some weathering/damage in between periods of a hockey game I'm watching tonight. So it should be finished later tonight. The Command Squad is just about done. I just need to finish the banner and a few more things on the Commander.

I've gotten a few PM's asking how I did the mud. It's really easy and only took me a few minutes. I used GW's Stirland Mud texture paint:

Probably one of the best texture paints put out by GW, its all I use for my krieg's basing

Command Squad is pretty much finished. I still need to work on the banner. This is my first time painting eyes and I have no idea what I'm doing. I'd appreciate any tips on doing faces/eyes. I have 30 Guardsmen to practice on! Next unit I'll painting is my Commissar.

Thanks! I've only been painting for about 3 months now and believe it or not, the GW painting videos are what really helped me the most. I've found that watering your paints down and applying multiple thin coats, and using really nice brushes helps the most.
