As part of my latest project with a tight deadline I have 25 scions to go from on sprue to fully painted and based in a 7 day window, which may seem like alot of time but juggling around real life commitments and striving for the quallity that I want this seemed like a nice challenge to take up. The first day was spent clipping, cleaning, assembling and priming everything and thus day two has dawned. Across the course of today I've made alot of headway with the Scion squad and Scion command squad, all squads have had their special weapons paired which is the joy of working with multiple kits at any one time, not to mention the abundance of spare heads and bits that this kit seems to produce. Anyway, at the end of day two here's where I am at:

Scion Command

Scion Squad

I'd love some feedback on how they're progressing so far, and potentially and critique or advice on how to progress, I'm also looking at basing ideas to offset the white/bone colour schemes of the model!

Thanks as always.

Very well done. Love the color scheme. This was done in 7 days? Gosh -- takes me 2+ hours for a single marine! That is very impressive.

Not sure if its the lighting, could be, but the white on the armor and the weapons look slightly flat to me. If I were doing white, I may base coat with a light blue and lighten up with white, or maybe base with grey, just to emphasize more depth.

Still, top notch!!! The trench coat is particularly impressive.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Looking pretty cool!

I can't help but think a jungle basing scheme would look good for these guys (greens with the odd really colourful flower/plant).

Or perhaps an autumnal forest (oranges and reds).

DAY 3!

OK, today was meant to be my resting day after so much assembling and stuff however I snuck in an hour or so to complete the heads and bases of the first 10 of the tempestus.

In all their glory here is command and team 1

Individuall model photos are also in my gallery

The white is initially brown and worked up through khaki, bone and white, though the photo may well wash it out a little, only on day 3 thus far!

Thanks for the suggestion, I didnt have the suitable flora/fauna to hand atm for jungle so I swung with ash for the first 10.!

Dude they already look great, I think a lot of people would be happy to call it a day there! However, if you're carrying on I would say that the reds look a bit stark. You could tone them down a bit to make them a little bit less bright, and maybe throw in a bit of OSL if you're feeling adventurous. I'm not sure about the dot of red on the tip of the gun barrel either, I think that's a bit much.
Apart from that you could just smooth out the transitions of the shading between the armour and the trim (only really visible when zooming), rehighlight the cloth and the black, and make sure you get a little dab of wash between the armour and the trim of the guy on the far right's breasplate in the last photo.

By the reds do you mean the panels on the arms and lenses, or the cabling for the flamers?

Also not technically part of my 25 model goal but todays result is my finished Commissar from the set:

Looking good! I was talking about the arms and the lenses mainly. If you haven't already varnished may I suggest making the highlights on the Commissar's boots a tiny bit thinner? The rest looks great!

I wasn't so certain about the color scheme myself only because I felt the detail color and the base color for the armor were too similar and not stark enough of contrast. I'm not sure if he made any changes to the models themselves from the prior pic or if applying the heads make the whole composition that much different.

If its just gluing on the heads, then I enthusiastically retract my previous critique in its entirety. These things are really coming together nicely.

The changed between pictures on day 2 and 3 were just the heads and basing, the intiial phot was really an odd hue from the camera that may have been due to trying to take properphotos by lamplight (never good)

This is now day... 6 I believe if my count is correct, I have done the cloth highlights across the remaining 15 scions and am prepping up for the big push tomorrow to finish off those 15, heads, bases and all. It'll be a day of it but I'm fairly confident I can complete in time!

Ahha! The lamp light was the culprit. Your models already have a cream colored motif, and the flooding of the lamp light just made everything that much more........creamy? Kinda made the trim and the base colors look almost exactly the same.

Would love to see a shot of the whole force together.....sans lamp light. lol

Yeah. The reason this is a great paint job is the trim with the wire background. It's hard to get that to pop so effectively.
