Alright every body, here's an interesting idea, I know the Death Korps siege list has impressive amount of artillery, turn-your-enemy-into-dust levels of artillery, and as a Tau player, I know that a Tau gun line is quite powerful.

To cut to the chase, which gun line do you think is better? Tau? OR Death Korps.

im thinking strictly of Gameplay, but fluff would be cool to hear too.

On moon miranda.

The DKoK siege regiment is powerful if you run it as artillery spam, but inflexible and with zero mobility. The DKoK SR can absolutely bury certain armies, but against something that's built around MC's or FMC's, or running lots of fliers, it'll struggle to generate the sheer volume of fire it really needs as most of the "hits" the army puts out are generated by blast templates rather than large numbers of individual shots, and the blast templates won't do squat against anything flying.

Having to rely on the T3 5+sv infantry for BS3 plasma shots and holding objectives is painful unfortunately.

Tau are far more flexible and mobile. They won't have the ability to simply bury certain opponents in just a couple turns, but they'll be far more flexible just in general.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

A Tau gunline held by Aun'va, reinforced by Fireblade and/or Darkstrider, all holed up behind an ADL with Quadgun, with Riptide and Longstrike Railhead and HYMP Broadsides standing by and everyone has markerlight support as force multiplier...so much firepower it is nigh impossible to run them over with close combat troops. Only long range fire can take them out, but you'll have a hard day outgunning Tau..

Fortunately a DKoK siege list defines "long range fire". The only decent part of the list is the ability to spam obscene numbers of artillery units.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Siege Regiment will brutally murder anything that lacks fliers when talking about long range shooting. Taking 9 Earthshakers with T7 W4 (excluding the crew!), whilst being able to order said units, for 675 points in a single CAD is silly. They will outrange you, they will outshoot you and they will almost never run away.

~5000 points of IG and DKoK
