The closest thing I've ever seen to a discount was a 20% off Atomic Comics sale on Black Friday.

A local store near me sells for 20-25% off retail price all the time. And another one does a Buy 2 get one free offer (Basically 33% off if you buy all the same priced items). I think how it works is they get the merchandise from a distributor at 50% then they set their price at 75-80% of GW's retail.

One game store I used to go to in NC had an automatic 10% off all products, including GW. Plus, for every $100 you spent, you got $10 in store credit, so that's 20% pretty much right there, they were great!

Where I am now in Indy, there's a game store that offers the same $10 for $100 of merchandise purchased, but I haven't seen any other stores offer below retail price on GW.

Independent retailers, from what I've been told, get GW at 60% of MSRP. Some of them sell online (or in store) at up to 20% below MSRP.

I usually buy from GW. But when I want a discount, it's one of the many web-stores. like Element Games.

Yup. Online webstores. Over here in the UK I've used Element Games, the Outpost and Gifts for Geeks with success. I'm not sure about American ones though.

I'd recommend Discount Games Store Inc. or Doc's Discount Games as I think it's now known.

http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=discount_games_store&ftab=AllFeedback

They have a newsletter that goes out where you can place pre-orders by email for a further 3% discount.

https://twitter.com/discount_games_

EDIT: I'm not sure what GW's current state of fulfillment is as I've largely moved on from purchasing GW stuff. From what I understand they have started shorting their independent trade partners on their preorders. I know Discount Games Store has had to get really conservative in their estimates of available product.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

And by that I mean I provide Tom Kirby with sexual favours in exchange for discounts.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. A few ways to do it.

- Get a friend that works at or owns a GW or LFGS, big orders once in a while go under the radar.

- Do commissions, the money you earn goes to more models.

- Ebay

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

He's right.

When they opened a new store or reopened a store after moving it, there'd be a sale. Hasn't happened here in over 15 years, but it did happen at one time.
Started out as two for one, then it became buy two, get cheaper one free, then three for two (cheapest free) and finally, they gave you a free receipt for all full price purchases.

I recall a GW scratch and dent sale in VA one time. 50% off but as I understand it, the manager got reamed since it wasn't really authorized for him to do.

Let's say that some satanic companies outsource a few of their... 'projects'; I also provide... 'services' for companies such as Ubisoft and EA.
