This model took me forever to paint and assemble, heck I'm not done with all the parts. Anyway, here's my Riptide, equipped with a velocity tracker, Counterfire Defence System, Twin-linked Smart Missile System, and a Heavy Burst Cannon. I've heard that the Riptide isn't a good choice for anti-air so any pointers would be good. I might post more pictures with the different battle systems later on. I look forward to hearing everyone's opinions. Enjoy

Those things do take forever, dont they?

To be honest your cam isnt doing you too many favors, but from what I see I recommend thinning your paints a bit more and giving him some edge work.

It all depends on what youre going for. I know its not the focus, but I think that base is awesome and am surprised to see it work so well.

That doesn't look too bad and I think the use of a contrasting color in the panel lines and recesses is a cool touch. I agree with the previous commenter about doing a little edge highlighting; I think it would really make the model pop.

Next time try to take the pictures in better lighting with something simple as a the backdrop (like a piece of blank paper) instead of the box and a bunch of stuff you have lying around.

A couple explanations. I used a white base coat with a non-acrylic paint, and some of the paint is rubbing off on some areas, and I realized the exposed white paint created a weathered look so I kept it that way. Another explanation is that I was in a hurry, because I had a class coming up. I'm Also kinda new to painting.

That made my day.

Yeah, I was in a hurry, so I didn't have time to set up an appropriate space for giving the Riptide a proper photo-shoot.

I never would have thought to use eggshells in basing. That came out really well.

To be honest, I didn't like the way the base looked at first. After the base was done, I had to find a way to attach the riptide to the base. I tried pinning, but I hated it, so I went with an epoxy putty similar to green stuff. After the epoxy cured, I noticed there were big gaps between the base and the riptide, so I took some Armageddon Dust texture paint and touched up the gaps. Then, I had to redo the areas where the texture paint was because yellow on dark brown (in my opinion) looks silly. When I got to the dry-brush step, I couldn't get some areas of the base due to the model, so I said to hell with it and proclaimed it was finished. Some friends commented on how realistic the base looked and how it looks like the riptide drug one of its feet along the dirt. I went on to add a splatter to the feet to make it look like mud was collecting on it, and I'm sorry that the pictures don't show that clearly. I am very proud of this model, and I hope to finish its other weapons and support systems soon. Tau'va
