I was wondering, how many monster armies are out there.

Ogres beeing the default one.
Throgg's trolls beeing another
I suppose there is a dragonogre army too. Correct?
Are minotaurs core when a Doombull is around?

What's left? Kroxigors? Ushabti? Crypt horrors?
I know the definition of a monster army is blurred, just say what comes to your mind.

And how they compare to each other?

Umm if you want to just monster mash. Chaos does it well. Lords on Manticors, Chimarae, Charriots, slaughterbrute / mutalith.

TK can as well with ushabit, stalkers/necro knights & sphinxs.

As fon monstrous, chaos trolls & ogres.

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

Lizardmen can do pretty good monster armies, if you're ok with making certain sacrifices.

So many games, so little time.

So many models, even less time.

Screw it, Netflix and chill.

@Lone Tower: there seems to be a bit of confusion, here. Units in Warhammer are divided into different troop-types, some of which include Monstrous Infantry, Monstrous Cavalry, War Beasts, and Monsters.

If you want an army that is 100% Monstrous or Monster, you're pretty much limited to Ogres and Warriors of Chaos.

There is no Dragon Ogre army, and there is no way to make Minotaurs Core.

You could however run Legion of Chaos, take the Troll core option then have even more monster options than before to fluff out your monster army list.

Monstrous infantry.
Monstrous infantry characters.
Things that make monstrous infantry more common.

It's not a project, I'm just curious.

i love the idea.... but I find the monsters die horribly fast in most games :(

Orks! ~28000
Chaos Dwarfs ~9000
Slaanesh ~14700

I agree with the above.

Although, my LoC army with Throgg, 18xTroll horde, and a Gorebull with Blackened Plate is decently effective lol. But really, if I wanted to play that style all the time I would just run Ogres, they can do it better.

Dark Elves are capable of fielding a pretty nasty monster mash list. We had a guy in our local club run 3 hydras, 2 charybdis, 1 dreadlord on a black dragon, and a couple of heroes on pegasus/manticores. I believe the core consisted of a unit of crossbows with the flaming banner and some dark riders. There were no mages in the list.

He faced an Ogre Kingdoms army that included Ironblasters. Needless to say, the Ogre player was overwhelmed, despite the benefit that none of his units could get Thunderstomped.

The Ogre player was new to Fantasy, but he was systematically dismantled by the Dark Elf player. It was horrifying to watch the DE player's battle line close in.

---

Warriors of Chaos are capable of fielding a pretty nasty monster mash list. I used to play WoC myself, but never had much experience fielding a list that consisted of a significant amount of monsters.

I'm planning a mostly Beastmen LoC army, but with Throgg and Trolls, and lots of big beasties. I like the idea of an elf most or army with Dragons, Treemen, Hydra, Kharybdss...

ogres and chaos are the only 2 that can have MI core so you are pretty much stuck to those 2 and chaos you will be forced to use throgg and his trolls

My favourite monster-heavy concept is lizardmen. 25% of your points go into Skinks, the rest of your army is Stegadons.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

...right. Like I said, if you want a pure Monstrous/Monster army, you have to choose between Warriors and Ogres.
Warriors's only option is to take Throgg. Legions of Chaos are shoehorned into that same option.

I'd do something like: Kairos, Throgg, and Doombull BSB with Trolls, Chimeras, Flesh Hounds, and Beasts of Nurgle. Maybe a Ghorgon. Maybe the Hell Cannon (it's a Monster, after all).

Lizardmen can sort of do it, too. Skink cohorts with Kroxigor for Core, Terradons, Rippers, Bastilidons and Stegadons for Special, and Ancient Stegadons, Salamanders and Razordons for Rare. Led by some Skinks on Stegadons, Rippers, and/or Terradons, and maybe a Vet or an Old Blood on a Carnosaur.

If you are going proper monster mash, Chaos is probably your best bet.

Daemon Prince, Throgg, Gorebull BSB, Trolls, Chimeras and any of the nine monster rare choices that you desire (some are better than others).

Not a single non monstrous thing in that list.

Undead can do ok. Fill core with chariots and then got a lot of options.

3000
4000 Deamons - Mainly a fantasy army now.

I've done that with Tomb Kings. loaded up on chariots, sphinxes, snake surfers, etc. it's not bad, but you miss the magic

I want to try it with new UL list, only two cheap lvl 2's in archers, two units of chariots and rest, snakes, morgasts, crypt horrors, tomb scorps, since I'll be desert winding and healing every turn, magic not biggest focus.

Death. The eternal blink. The capricious dance of Now Ya Stop Movin' Forever. Well contrary to popular belief, death isn't just for dead people. It can happen to anyone.
