Nah. This'll be another "Diet Codex" like the few before it, with a reduction of options, some formations and some overbalancing of some powerful units (even if they're not powerful in 7th, because GW writing has a serious amount of lag).

Thats the spirit!

It depends. If its a three-week release with 3+ new kits, they devote a week before the Codex to a new kit or two. Week 2 is always the Codex + plus a kit. Then week three is another kit.

So, if its a two week release, we could get one kit + codex this week, and then something else next week.

Do we have any good reasonably good information regarding what is coming after Necrons?
Are there 2 or 3 weeks in the schedule before the next rumored releases?

Have I been given any reason to think otherwise? The army to get the most amount of new stuff in recent months has been the Tyranids, and they weren't a Codex release.

Guys, remember that AM got cards for their Orders... and that's not random.
EDIT: Sorry... didn't see that someone else had already made that point.

There have been rumors of Harlequins...
Off course, there is the Chaos End Times book for Fantasy.
Sisters are Rumored around May.
The next Sanctus Reach/Shield of Baal type campaign is due around then as well... and rumors say that it is a revisit of the Dark Vengence box with Dark Angels and Chaos Space Marines warband, The Crimson Slaughter.

Well I think we all can agree the current 'nid dex was a complete misfire. When considering the Tervigon it was actually a step backwards.

What do the Necrons need or un-need? Nerfs...buffs.? They are pretty much all win right now.

You're trolling... right? The army that literally comes out of a can isn't already monotonous?

Probably book, coins, artwork. Chance of a supplement that will be released separately in the future?

Am I the only person who has spent enough time with the GW releases over the last year to predict/understand how this works?

barebones codex $49.50 USD

Tomb Awakend $185 - since later on the WD calls out cryptex as a codex, this has to be a box set.

Codex: Cryptex editon: - LIMITED ED $165 USD - this is your fancy limited edition codex, and artwork. possibly fancy box/cover sleeves. possibly coins and probably painting guide.

(For 165 and no other codex versions, it's more likely that there's a painting guide and not a supplement. The other limited codices that have come out had painting guides and supplements were like over $200 USD. When they offered more than limited codex version that had a supplement, you had to buy the super expensive version to get the supplement. The cheaper limited edition codex only had a painting guide, and artwork. )

'Nids were gutted from the Chapterhouse lawsuit and the first to suffer.

They needed the fixing.

Tervigons needed a bit of a nerf though..

Hmmm. Does 'cron overlord look like it's on a 25 or 32mm base? It looks 25mm to me...

I've put most of my crons on 32mm bases just because of how wide their legs are and it really does look the world better, more room for customizing as well.

Ill be getting that cryptek edition for sure, i get paid the same day it comes out.....bye bye money

Well, if the Codex truly has a bunch of formations in it, the concept of a Ghazzy/Champions of Fenris/Haemonculi-Covens-style supplement is dead anyways, as they mostly boiled down to formations for the Codex but not in the Codex.

Sorry about the size, I don't know how to reduce it.

22 double-sided datacards makes for 44 entries, current codex has 30 entries (unless I miscounted).

Maybe more formations are in the offing?

I kinda want to buy it.
But I don't see how this is worth the additional 100 euro? I'd rather spend that on more models.

That Cryptek edition does look awesome...

I love Necrons, but Im guessing this codex is going to be like the other 7th ed ones, bland and dull? I really like that Lord model though, £17 is a lot of money, not that I expected otherwise with Skaven characters (on 20mm square bases) being £13.50...

We in Australia have had to deal with $25+ characters for awhile now, so the Overlord's cost is no surprise.

With the Necron book I think we can expect repricing of Wraiths, Night Scythes (both up), destroyers, doom scythes, and doomsday arks (all down), the removal of a -lot- of the Cryptek gear, and the removal/utter change of the way MSS works (probably just a normal Ld check, if fail - WS1) or something like that.

EDIT: The top card says "ROYAL COURT"

From what I can see it's a formation... and the image on it has a the new overlord, a lord and a cryptek (I think? not sure about the cryptek but it looks to be holding the same staff the cryptek model has) But that's all I can make out.

However, this new codex definitely has more than one formation(or at least the limited edition does) as the card below it ALSO has the formation symbol.

EDIT because of previous posts: So Royal Courts are now formations... not awesome but at least we didn't lose them.

Pretty much confirms the rumour that Crypteks will become their own option, maybe like Ork Meks where you take a certain number of them per Overlord or something.

"Royal Court"

That's all the resolution allows for. The picture seems to be the Zarathusa model standing with a Lord and a Cryptek.

What's the Zarathusa model? It's the new Lord model right?

Yeah, that model matches the character art at was used as the model for Zarathusa the Ineffable in the Exterminatus campaign book.

So it's the same situation as Dark Vengeance giving you a Kranon the Relentless model but encourages you to use it as your generic Chaos Lord.

Didn't Kranon have actual rules?
I wonder how this RC-Formation will work out.

With making it a Formation it seems like we might no longer need an Overlord to unlock the Royal Court.

Tomb Awakened seems nice.
It's €185 of models, for €150; so roughly 20% discount.

If they fixed Lychguard, that's not a bad set. You could double up and have a decent sized army.

If they didn't fix Lychguard, that's dead weight in the box.

I don't even care about Praetorians to be honest: The fluff undermines your Phaeron by giving him federal oversight.

They surely fixed them, perhaps not enough to be tournament stuff.. But anything is better than their current implementation.
Same goes for the Praetorians.

The discount is nice, but I already have 2 Stalkers, 8 Lords, 5 Barges and 40 Immortals.
I do think it's sad we don't see a new model or unit in it.
