I like wave serpent spam, but 3 is too little at 2500. The fire prism would be better with more of its kind.

At 2500 perhaps a few more troops, and at least a big deathstar might be adviced.

Why do you have 6 fire dragons, and what is the thought behind adding the exarch.

Why not drop falcon (with star cannon) and the fire prism. Get two more wave serpents. Give them bright lances or star cannons to do some real harm. and reduce the fire dragons to 5. The extra range from fire pike is not needed if they ride the WS and jump out.

This from an Eldar noob, so take it with a grain of salt.

Let the galaxy burn.

Fire dragon exarch has saved me in the past, better hitting and his longer range took out a target that was further away

I just realised the falcon has two heavy weapons, not to sure on the rules about this? And , with movement

I need more troops was thinking about ditching the wraith guard and changing them to a squad of 10 dire avengers with no exarch

Falcons can move 12" and fire 2 weapons (heavy included) at full BS. So you're fine there. It's just a mediocre tank compared to the Wave Serpent though. For some reason the new codex has made Wave Serpents more deadly than Falcons by simply giving them a scatter laser so that your 60" range S7 shield is twin-linked.

Yes the wave serpent is great, but the army already has three

If I took another instead of the falcon I would be losing out on strength 8 Ap 2 hits also with starcannon 2 strength 6 hits ap 2/3

The serpent sheild doesn't have any ap?

Only windrider guardians can upgrade to cannons, jetseers/jetlocks cannot. Also if you're taking the fire dragon exarch it's more cost effective to get fast shot over the pike, while 3 extra melta range inches can sometimes help, you generally want the entire unit 6 inches away for full melta usage anyway, which isn't that difficult coming out of a serpent... also for the same 20pts you paid for the Avenger exarchs upgrades, you could just give him the power weapon/shimmershield combo, and give the entire unit a 5++ which is better use of those points. I generally go power sword over the lance because it's always ap3, and a DA squad should never be charging anyway to get use of the +1S, you have counterattack with high initiative and very strong guns for overwatch, it's generally more beneficial to goad your opponent into charging you.

No the serpent shield doesn't have ap, but it ignores cover

It ignores cover, which in many cases is more important than Ap 2 since it bypasses Jink, Stealth and Shrouding. The only things that have 2+ saves are things than can be just as easily killed with volume of fire instead of Ap 2 due to there being a low model count in 2+ save units.

Yes the wave serpent is awesome and they are great points,

The wave serpent is very effective against vehicle profiles, when against a 3 + save the wave serpent isn't to effective
If the wave serpent has scatter laser and Shuriken cannons the highest Ap is 5 so most troop profiles get saves

Thanks for all the useful posts, it has been really helpful

6's to wound with the shuriken cannon (or any shuriken weapon for that matter) are ap2, so keep that in mind as well. I will have to say though; against av12 or lower, the falcon is clearly superior at bringing down vehicles. The biggest real issue most people have with the falcon though, in2thewarp, is that it eats up a valuable heavy support slot. If you do not have any other plans or way to fill said slot, then by all means, go ahead and run the falcon, and let me know how it runs. Have fun and good luck

Pathfinder Shaun- what would you run in the heavy support choice?

I am running
Fire Prism
Wraith Lord with Brightlance and EML
Falcon with starcannon or wraith lord

Just a suggestion but on your first wraithlord I would replace the EML with a scatter laser, or run double brightlances because they both produce similar results for less points. As for the third slot I would have to lean towards another wraith, only because it will be easier to keep in cover and it can't be one shotted as easily (visa vi, Explodes! result)

Or, if you have one available, another fire prism
