Just a curious alteration, for having a 'End Times list' outside of my regular army list I have written up for this.
Lost the glade guard, lost one spellsinger lost 5 waywatchers. In return obtained 2 Frostheart Phoenix.

Wondering what peoples opinions are on this list. I have lost my automatic 1 set of forests on the table but I am
bringing the acorn so it shouldn't be that big of a problem I'm hoping. Also in favor of this as it reduces the amount
of miniatures I have to paint to get the army live >.< Though I will always have the default wood elves list.

I personally don't like the glade riders spam, as it happened three times to me that they would enter one by one and die to focused shooting. Once I had two units never enter the tableboard.
How do you handle armored troops? Magic only? What if you roll low on winds, or your mages blow up? Waywatchers might be more useful than 2x 5 scouts, as with riders you already have no problem moving where you want.
Cheers for the twins. Cool model, cool options, flaming attacks to strip regen. They can also melee small chaff units. You put them on big G, right?

Yeah the coming in one at a time is a risk that comes with it, but I like the idea simply because of the play style, though it does leave a lot to chance.
Armored troops are left a little bit to magic, or to simply try and avoid.
the 2x 5 scouts instead of waywatchers is mostly because I can garuntee at least one warmachine gone and when the enemy / if they choose to turn around and deal with them they have to apply double the focus to remove 2 units of skirmishers instead of just the one.

Mages blowing up isn't too big a problem, their both in the unit of sisters of the thorn which means any miscasts can just be taken on the unit, and then brought back with lore of life passive.
I do <3 the sisters they are awesome. Worst case is this army is difficult to run, which I'm prepared for that. The saddest part is sacrificing shooting for the two phoenix's but I'm sure they will be worth it.

For a more static list I would rather run a different army for that so the glade rider spam kinda has to stay x3
Non-Phoenix King list is here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/618825.page

What? You can do that? I thought the sisters' miscast rules only applied to the sisters' miscasts.

I'm approaching HotEK from a DE executioner spam perspective, so your mobile list confuses me a little When facing Undead Legions of Chaos, I see a lot of large monsters/casting buff units. As such I would field more hagbane. If using the Khaine magic rules, magic missile spam could easily remove your tiny scout units. The same could be said for your core, but sounds like changing that isn't an option for this list.

I theorize that Flame pheonix's better support a shooty mentality. Frosthearts are primarily Close combat oriented, and might appreciate wild rider support.

The sister's miscast only takes effect on the sisters themselves. The mages aren't the unit. The join it, but don't become it.

I didn't realize that. They should still minimize damage though having 4+ward and MR 2 all the same. Miscasting shouldn't be terrible.

In my wood elves list I run two weavers (death & shadow). They both have their own escort of 7 sisters. One of the mages is the general, and he does have the grounding rod, which allows me to be aggressive with the spellcasting.

I was wondering, what do you need the extra woods of the acorn for? To move them with the staff? None of your units cares about being in a wood, apart from the mages that get a +1 to cast - but if that's the reason, why not use the book of Ashur?

My plan is generally to try and use the woods more offensively. A unit caught in woods while moving takes damage. A unit moved onto by woods also takes damage. It's essentially an additional means of dealing damage, blocking line of sight and general inconveniencing my opponent.

I also think its kinda cool being able to manipulate the terrain. I don't know just how useful it will actually be without trying it in a game or two to kind of see how I might be able to use it properly. But I'm interested to see.

Removing it through wouldn't grant too much points left to spend. Perhaps some great eagles, or a tiny unit of waywatchers.

One of the real reasons for using it. Is more linked to my original list that I linked above. Which uses the unit of 12 with the captain using the "If you don't move, teleport to a forest" item, which would generally bait people into attacking said stationary target before just teleporting away.

MR2 doesn't affect miscasts. It's not wounds caused by spells.

Really? I thought seeing as it was magic going wrong the explosions and stuff caused as a result of miscast would be magic @.@

Magic Res is a save against damage caused by spells. Miscasts aren't spells.
