Is there anything better than IG special weapons squads in drop pods?

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

As suicide units go? HH Special Weapon Squads in Drop Pods. Play Apocalypse so the Allies rules don't restrict who can be in what and then put Fire Dragons in Drop Pods.

What about Veterans?

I know they're a bit more expensive, but the extra BS seems important.

Yeah, when i read the small novel that is the Death Guard unit options and think about resolving the attacks from a melee-oriented min size death guard squad, the thing that springs to mind is "Accessible!"

It's not a bad idea. Veterans with 3 melta is only 90 pts. That's way cheaper then the sternguard that could be coming out. Another option is a command squad for that fourth special weapon. 4 plasma or melta popping out. Could even take an astropath with psychic shriek.

Scion command squad can take 4 meltas, has a 4+ save, can take FNP, and has an order for tank hunter/monster hunter.

Scion Command Squads do not have Bring it Down (the order which grants Tank- and Monster-Hunter).

Also, if they get FNP, they can't have 4 meltas. Personally, I don't see the point in giving them FNP - it costs more than a meltagun, and this method of deployment basically dooms them anyway.

Depends on what you need. If you need flamers - sws or pcs are great. If you need plazma/melta - go with scions or vets/ccs.
