I am thinking of taking a unit of skull crushers and was wondering how many is a good number. 3 or 5???

Thanks

I'd say three.

If your going all out, bring three units of three, it will fill your rare up at 2k, but nothing else in the rare section can match up to them.

Incorrect. They are rare, and you are capped at 2 duplicate choices in the rare category under 3k points.

3-4 is a healthy unit. The downside with 4 is if you break combat with a single model, he needs snake eyes to rally. On the fliipside, if your opponent manages to concentrate enough magic/shooting then the skullcrusher unit loses effective with every 3W model that fails a 1+ armor. If you plan on running a single unit, consider trying 4. If you plan on not having other rares, experimenting with two units of 3 makes provides two separate targets for your opponent to worry about.

5 puts too many eggs into a single basket. You are not likely to get all of your attacks unless you run 5x1 and charge a horde formation, which is usually not recommended.

^Exactly what he said. 5x1 is too large a footprint IMO. I run 2 units of 3 in most games and they work very, very well!

ToW armies I own:
Empire: 10,000+
Chaos Legions: DoC- 10,000+; WoC- 7,500+; Beastmen- 2,500+; Chaos Dwarves- 3,500+
Unaligned: Ogres- 2,500; Tomb Kings- 3,000
Hotek: Dark Elves- 7,500+; High Elves- 2,500
40k armies I own:
CSM- 25,000+

Worse, its if you break with two since one is the standard and dies when he breaks and the last one is 25% and thus needs snakes to rally.

Two units of 3 or one of 6 are both solid. One of 6 is super tough to get points out of, while two units is more flexible.
