Am I bad person for giggling at the fact that the color choices for the dots don't match up to the names?

Well, there are people in the eastern half of the Midwest. The wide open spaces are more just the West.

Maine looks about right. Driving 300 miles north from Bangor to Houlton, if you see more than 50 cars along the way, you're in a traffic jam.
Phish did a couple of concerts in Limestone, in Northern Maine, and while they went on, Limestone had the biggest population in the state.

No real surprises on this map.

It would be fascinating to break it down more, like on religious lines and such - for example, I was surprised to find out when I moved to the Midwest that the Jew is a rare and somewhat mysterious creature, whereas when I lived in the Bronx it was like 1 in 6 or so (bonus: for school we got off both Christmas and stuff like Rosh Hashanah). As a result I suppose most Midwesterners probably never experienced the joy of buying a knish from a street vendor - something I dearly miss, right up there with the now-elusive Jamaican Beef Patties.

Similarly, whereas there are probably more Puerto Ricans in NY than are in Puerto Rico, now that I'm in Iowa I think I'm probably the only Puerto Rican for 25 miles.

One of my brother in laws was a New York Puerto Rican.

I took a look at the map for my local area and it was pretty much what I expected for the suburbs; a whole lot of whites. Most of the non-asian minority dots were concentrated at a pair of apartment complexes, which pairs up with the "do not deliver zones" from the pizza place I used to work at.

Those two complexes were cut from our delivery zone due to previous drivers being held up there several times, and a car jacking, meanwhile we delivered to everywhere else in town. Quite odd how those maps overlap.


Years before I ever worked there that no-zone was decided on by my boss and outside of the obvious safety concerns it likely speaks volumes about his racial views as a suburban dwelling Italian.

Have a huge Asian population around the Sound. Hmong migrate here. Follow by the Somali's. Largest black population I believe is around Fort Lewis (Tacoma & Olympia) but mainly due to being in the Army/AF. Port Orchard and above vast majority is Caucasian and Asian which sounds about right being the Navy has a huge presence in this area. I might see up to 2-3 black in a week where I am at.

This map is deeply offensive...it clearly shows me in New Jersey. Preposterous!

Well, it makes me like California more. Fairly diverse state where Whites actually aren't an overwhelming majority.

Don't forget the Koreans, Chinese, Japanese, etc. type asians, the rather large Islander community, the Latino community, etc.

I don't even need streets in my town to pick out the campus and the dorms. Lol.

The Central District and Rainier Valley are traditionally Black neighborhoods, too.
