Less effective, but then you have them for defense. Because many psyker heavy lists cast stuff against your squads. I mean what other HQs are you gonna use in the BA codex?

Well at the moment my plan is for Astorath and a Priest, though I only have the Priest model. Although I'm just coming back to the hobby, I've never been keen on psykers but that might just be because I've never used them.

The level 1 BA libby was THE HQ in the 5th ed codex.

I just feel that the chaplains and even the priest don't bring enough to the table. I might go dual force org to get 4 HQ slots in some lists to get priests, though.

I like the thought of Astorath because the model is epic and I like the buffs he can bring to DC, but he's the only Chaplain I'd think about. For me I think I love the Priest model and maybe that's why I want to include it. That being said, I do like the thought of a jump Priest in with a Vanguard squad.

I know a lot of people are using them with Sanguinary Guard but I HATE those models and that's really put me off. As much as I want an army that can compete, it needs to be fluffy(ish) and look good on the table for me.

Do the DC need buffs? No. They just need to assault. However, a psyker might be able to hand out a 4++ save or make Sternguards relentless. Those are buffs.

I've never thought of it that way. I might have to have another look at my HQ choices. Too many options!

Give the DC 2 power fists and basically whatever they assault dies miserably. There are exceptions, but those things you shoot. That's why shooting is actually imperative to a BA list.

Sanguinius discipline is so good for a libby with DC, too. Most the powers are short ranged, and do annoying things. Like give DC an extra attack, or make units take LD tests at -2.

My current list has a level 2 libby and Mephy. Two level 2's would be good too, but S 10 is rare and precious.

I don't know if I'd use two , I like some of the other choices for that slot too much.

But they're best when you load up on them as much as possible. Most of the other HQs are kinda meh I think.
