I've been reading about Thudd Guns recently and their rules interest me. They seem like a fun little piece of artillery to use, only problem is that I'm not a huge fan of the model. Well, to be honest it does look cool but the problem is I don't think it would fit in with my vanilla Cadian army. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good ideas for something that could reasonably stand in for one of these things:
Specifically, I would like to find something of a similar nature but
without the wheels/artillery carriage. I was thinking maybe the
SM Air Defense Missile Launcher could work:
Not only do I really like the aesthetics of this model, I also think that the size could help serve as a decent replacement. I realize that the tarantula turrets aren't that big, and judging by various pictures of these models that I could find, the Thudd Gun does appear to be a little bit bigger, mostly in terms of length - but placing the model on a base could easily fix this problem.
What do you guys think? I think in a casual game it would be no problem, but if I plopped this down on the table ( with a base and crew accompanying it of course ) and explained that it's a Thudd Gun, would you have a problem with that?
If you have any suggestions for similar alternative models then I would love to hear them!
( Also I wasn't sure if this should be in P&M or
YMDC - sorry if it's in the wrong place. )
