Ive been playing 40k for sometime now and i finally am going to get around to making my cultist army, the problem is im not sure what else i should stuff in there. Ill probably have a squad of Thousand Sons (love that AP) a Defiler, maybe one of the cool Khorn brass beasts, and maybe some plague marines (why not). My main issue is that i cant seem to find the Dark Apostle/Cultist Battleforce that was on GW's site, did they discontinue it? Also im taking recommendations as to what should go in here, btw this is by no means a tournament list.

Go to Imperial Armour 13. That is literally a book about having Cult armies. Heretics and Renegades.

Hmm well if you want expensive FW stuff go ahead and pick up IA 13. It has some fun rules like random leadership, BS 2 cultists and renegade versions of all the imperial guard tanks/super heavies.

You can even ally in a chaos detachment for dark apostles and regular cultist.

But from. Your OP maybe you want regular chaos in which case id convert up some ogryn/river trolls into spawn and just go conversion crazy.

I am going to have a look at IA 13, as i love me some options, but i will probably make this with standard CSM. I realized that i actually want to run a cultist army because i have enjoyed the crap out playing them in kill team. My cultists in KT were Nurgle and Khorne marked and supported by several Thousand Sons, all in all quite effective, so ill probably do the same for normal fights, Cultits armed with Heavy Stubbers will be Nurgle, and the CC Cultists will be Khorne, though what supports them well?

ALso what makes good cultist conversions?

Mutant chronicles does a pack of 80 cultists for like £30 (after postage and packing). http://shop.princeaugust.ie/warzone-mutant-chronicles-wargame/

That's what I used for my traitor guard with heavy conversions.

Look at the Helcult formation if you want Fearless cultists, t can have its uses.

For my own cultists/mutant rabble I used Perry Minis sudanese tribesmen, you get 40 of them for 20 pounds, which is pretty good. They got a wild, aggressive pose which I think fits really well with the cultist theme (which reminded me of the description of the chaos-worshipper hordes in Legion, from the HH series)

The price will be about £30 after vat/delivery. The models have about 4 poses so some.conversion work is required if you want them to look good (head swaps backpack swaps etc). The plastic is a bit more brittle/hard than GW plastic but I've not had any problems with stuff breaking (just.noticed the hardness when cutting it for converting). Model sizes are the same as GW.

Very nice, ill probably snag an order of those, considering how hard it is to get a cultist with a flamer or heavy stubber

Edit: just placed my order, so the cultists are pretty much covered. Ill probably run them with a Master of the Horde and snag Arhimann and some Thousand Sons as Allies, toss a Helltalon and a few vehicles in there and i should be ok.
