Looks like we got the mid range ship we were wanting...
http://startrek.com/article/first-look-attack-wing-wave-11-romulan-prototype-01
The nimble Romulan drone ship is very self-sufficient and can repair one Hull or Shield during the end phase of each round. While he cannot be assigned as the Captain of the drone, Valdore can be used to captain another ship in your fleet or he may be used as Gareb’s choice thus providing a 6 skill captain with an Elite Talent slot for only 1 squadron point.
Triphasic Emitters allow additional flexibility in regards to Weapon upgrades so they are not overlooked due to the many Tech upgrades in the expansion. Maneuvering Thrusters can be disabled to place an Evasive Maneuvers token by the ship. Multi-Spectral Emitters provides two additional defense dice to be rolled during the Roll Defense Dice step and using your Backup Sequencer to activate all of your Shield tokens will cause immense amounts of frustration for your opponent. Propulsion Matrix boosts your ship forward into the fight while Reinforced Hull Plating cancels a hit or critical hit from an opponent lucky enough to score damage to your ship. When things look dire, activating a Core Overload might cause the damage needed to turn the tide, especially as you attempt to keep control of the neutral ship in the Destabilize The Sector mission.

There's more cards in the expansion, however, the image does not appear on the ST website... :/
I'll reserve judgement for the remaining cards, however, I do like that Drone ship... 3/3/3/3 is a pretty damn feisty ship. plus, with Valdore it'd have 4 tech slots...

Can't take him, only drone pilot or gareb...
Valdore's ability won't transfer if you use him.
I'm personally thinking Shinzon gets droned.

If that's the case, then what's up with putting Valdore in the expansion??? What was the point in giving him abilities at all? WK...I don't understand...

Well Valdor 6 will be great on the Valdor ship. From what we are shown this looks like a fun ship. I am hoping that the new Valdor also has an admiral side, but I won't hold my breath. I am a little disappointed in startrek.com for such a crappie preview

To be fair, we don't know if they were given the whole thing though. Perhaps wizkids decided to withhold part of the preview from them this time.

I'm personally a little annoyed at it. Principally due to 'drone ship only' on most of the stuff.
'Romulan ship only' would have been a lot better.

Romulan Commander has his uses though. Maybe take Jarok for 1 point and one elite talent. However if you ar flying the new Valdor on something else you could take the Viceroy for free, a good use for Reman scum. You could take Salarel for free and get a talent, but she is too good to waste like that.

This has some great cards in it. I love all the tech slots on that ship! Interestingly enough, it doesn't have a cloaking device... unless they offer a separate tech upgrade card, you're looking at what, 10 points for an out of faction cloaking device? The only one that comes to mind is the Federation Cloaking Device from the Defiant.
I expect some errata/FAQ to come from that Backup Sequencer. Mainly in that let's say I get a Cloak on the ship, does that mean I can run around with a cloak up and full shields? Also- the timing thing. At any time? What if I take enough damage while cloaked to be destroyed (after the modify defense dice step), and decide to tap the card? In other words, can I see the results of an action before I decide to use Backup Sequencers?
Valdore is a great captain to put on, interestingly enough, the Valdore ship giving it a much needed tech slot. Most of the tech in this expansion is proprietary to the Drone ship, but some is very useful on other ships as well. Reinforced Hull Plating and Interphase Generator will be awesome!
Overall, another good expansion for the Romulans, but I don't understand why the Drone ship doesn't have a built in cloak...

It didn't cloak. It did mask it's signature and pretend to be other ships though. That was it's point, to destabilize the sector and cause wars whilst the Rommies all hid and made troll grins.

I would have been all over the new captain Valdore when the Valdore ship was the best thing Romulans had. It having no tech slot was a big deterrence for me, because I really like the Interphase Generator.
However, with the Scimitar out, I don't use the Valdore as often. The Scimitar has all the tech slots I need already.
I'd really like Gareb if he wasn't drone ship only. I'd take him with Shinzon all the time. I don't like Shinzon's ability much... I'd rather just have counter attack.
I'm probably going to pass on this ship unless it has a fun scenario in it. It's a cool looking ship though.

03 Interphase Generator
03 Interphase Generator

90 Total ... may be workable

I'm surprised, given the lack of popularity for that game. DND AW was big at first, but now, I've seen people on ebay trying to move it for wholesale prices, and it's still there.
People can't get rid of it fast enough it seems. I think Wizkids bit off more than they can chew by rushing that game out as well. Because only 1 person showed up for the DND OP month 1 here, lol.

My local game store said things are delayed because of the long shoremen strike in California. Supposedly lots of stuff is on the ships, but it isn't getting unloaded. Is this true, who knows
I think Plaquelordhobbyservices is right on D&DAW. WK moved too fast as made a direct competitor for their own game. They should have waited another 6 monthmto a year to firm up the market on STAW. After the borg we saw a lot of people switch over and now we don't see very much of it at all. Now that may depend on location. Once store I play at I don't see it at all and another it still has a small following. Neither location has the numbers we used to pre Collective OP.

Round here there was massive interest in the game to begin with, but once the starter and first expansions rolled out people were QUICKLY put off by the cost of entry. Whereas in Star Trek Attack Wing your entry point is the starter set plus any ships you want to start playing with of a certain faction. In DND, it's a bit harder because each dragon expansion costs roughly twice of what one ship in STAW costs. Plus, the starter was a bit more expensive as well.
Also, the DND stuff was the only Attack wing product that had black Friday sales specials last year at my local store. EG: They bought too much and needed to get rid of it.
Personally, I think they need to iron out their problems for Star Trek: Attack wing before dedicating more resources to DND attack wing, because if public perception is that you can't make a good, balanced game; Then no one is going to buy your new game because it'll likely suffer the same, if not worse, problems.

WK definitely pushed too hard on the early (Dominion War) success of STAW. Their heads got too big and they rushed out attack wing product (ala borg), moved the cheif designer to DND flooding thhe flight path market a little. Now there is X-wing, STAW, DND, Wings of Glory, and Sails of Glory. That is a little much of a some what nitch corner of the gaming community. For me personally if I want to see wizards and dragons I'll play warhammer. I guess WK thought that there price point was less to get into a fantasy game then GW or Mantic, but that is a big gamble on WK part.

This cards was not shown in the preview. Definitely makes it a fast ship, but before any other upgrades the named would be 29pts, a little steep for a support ship.

The more I see of it, the less I like it.
It just seems like an expensive folly of a ship with little to no capacity for being tailored, adding a range of cards that can only be used on it or are so obscure they'd not warrant using in other applications.
It's finicky and equipping it makes it expensive rapidly moving it out of the low to mid 20s sweet spot we Romulans have been looking for to fill a gap left by low teen ships and 30pt+ dreadnoughts. Automatically Appended Next Post: Red Viper wrote:

Why don't you just take counter attack on Shinzon then?
Shinzon's card says 'instead of purchasing an 'elite talent' upgrade as normal for Shinzon, you may spend 4 SP to place up to four cards'...
'instead of, you may...'
So you're quite entitled to just buy the standard single elite talent if you want, but you 'may' change that up using his four cards trick instead. It's a choice, not an obligation.

Oh, I do.
I just wish I didn't have to pay points for Shinzon's ability. It's worthless to me.

As you play more and get more experience in building fleets, you will encounter this more and more often. It's not specifically limited to Romulans- though Romulans feel it more keenly then other because they just don't have any ships in the 20-30 point range.
I encountered this last year while trying to build a Gor Portas and Rav Laerst fleet. I was ending up with 24 pt ships costing 36-40 points and being just... bleh. The new tournament format exacerbates this problem almost forcing you into these build like this... cheap ships with a ton of upgrades or big ships with no upgrades and just a captain. I dunno which way is better. Instead of 1 Borg Cube or two Borg Spheres, there is a tray of "Sugar Cubes" floating around. LOL
So I could take this ship, load it up, and watch it die after one round of shooting from a stripped down Scimitar.
Good cards in this set, but like a lot of stuff these days, I look at it and think "How can I use this on my Soverign, Scimitar, Voyager, Dominion Cruiser, or Chang's Bird of Prey?" Heck, throw in the Bannana Boat (Relora-Sankur Kazon ship) into the list. Although my new favorites are the Mirror Universe Galaxy Class and MU Defiant. Otherwise, ships like this get thrown into the bottom of the pile. :/

Here is a profile pic. I am going to call this ship I.R.F. prototype 001, Imperial Romulan Flea. It just looks like a giant green flea to me. There is a good amount of detail in the model, pics don't really do it justice.
For size comparison here it is next to a Warbird.

Take this for what it's worth, because I don't know for sure, but with each expansion coming out I get the feeling that WK designs the ships more with their individual scenarios in mind rather than tournament or any other kind of play. Look at the Praetus and NX class, if you read their scenarios those two ships were ment to come out together, the NX even came with the mind field for the praetus. I think that is why the tournament scene is so unbalanced most ships were never designed to interact with one another. Which is a silly way to do things because in the beginning WK really used OPs to drive sales, with the "buy an expansion for an entry fee" system.
Don't get me wrong I love this game but you can see that with FF and X-Wing ships are designed with how they interact with everything, but AW doesn't have that feel. I believe in the early days around the release mat Gencon WK said a lot about how they wanted the missions to help the game stand out, but again it doesn't make sense when using tournaments to push sales. Automatically Appended Next Post:
It is a 1 ship 50pt fed build against a 40pt Romulan. The Romulans also get a 30pt "Neutral ship". However once the shields are down on the Romulan ship the Feds can try to take control of the Neutral. Standard deployment and 3 of the large mission tokens from the starter for obstacles. Sounds fun, I may talk someone into playing it before the week is out.

I won't say I'm disappointed. It's nimble and has some interesting upgrades. It's an enterprise era ship so compared to the rest from that time it actually looks pretty good. The drone is probably not going to be an OP winning ship, but neither are the rest of the older era ships. You don't see very many NX classs, generic Praetus, D7, Tholian, Gorn or Vulcan lists out there. Even in faction pure you don't really see any of these ships, they just aren't up to the NG era stuff. Now in an era pure or special scenario I can see the Romulan Flea being a lot of fun.
I mostly got it for the new Valdor Captain. I don't see it fitting into my OP fleet any time soon, but I am kicking around some home brew scenarios for it. Maybe the Romulans try to ambush a Vulcan convoy hmmm...
