As part of a biomorph upgrade (25 points) he can take something called Incendary Ichor.
The rule states that for every unsaved wound he suffers in the fight sub phase, you place the 5" template over the model that caused the wound.
They then automatically take a wound themselves, no armor save of any kinda allowed (vehicles take d3 glances). All models are affected under the template except the
HP himself.
Couple that with his base attacks, high number of wounds, S and T and Stomp ability.
Does it make him effectively immune to hand to hand attacks? Even something like the Transcendant Ctan which is a serious beast in hand to hand cant fell him since he has 10 wounds and it has 6, so after the first 6 wounds caused the Ctan dies.
I know you can shoot him to death but am I missing something here for
HTH?
Nope, it is an incredibly powerful ability, albeit completely wasted if you don't face other
CC power house units (but in today's world of Imperial Knights, Wraith Knights and
CC deathstars odds are there is something out there that thinks it can take the bio-titan in melee and will be receiving a harsh lesson).
The other upgrades are all fairly great too.
Bio-plasma is awesome for clearing out huge swathes of
MEQ, Spore Barrage for clearing out even larger numbers of light/medium infantry and Stingers for bringing down irritating fliers. The Brood Chamber is a particular interesting choice, not directly adding to your killing power... but you can pop in a Malanthrope or Venomthrope(s) for a huge Shroud cloud, or (if you're feeling risky) bundle in a huge brood of Genestealers and enjoy one of the only means of transportation available to the Tyranids to deliver a deadly assault unit.
The only bad thing about the upgrades to the Hierophant is that you can only choose a single one.
