Codex Space Marines has rules for White Scars, Imperial fists, Iron Fists, etc...

Imperial Fists got their own codex.
Iron Fists got their own codex.
White Scars got a Digital Release set of Data Cards.

Currently, only armies who have a 7th edition Codex Release have printed Data Cards.
No army, other than White Scars, has digital datacards without a printed Data Card release first.

Could the White Scards digital datacard release be a sign of a soon to be released 7th Edition Codex and Data Cards for White Scars ?

I could see them adding a third supplement which covers a chapter already in the main book.

I would have preferred they use the supplements on armies not covered in the codex. (And Black Templars as they didn't do them justice)

Probably a campaign/mission book featuring them. After rolling BT into the C:SM codex, I don't see GW making a new SM chapter codex.

No. A supplement at most. They don't deserve a standalone codex, they're codex adherent and arent much different to any other chapter apart from their bike fetish (which I'm pretty sure they don't actually use more bikes than other chapters, they just use mobile warfare - lots of transports etc).

Strange the White Scars adhere to the codex when they valued their freedom so.

Yeah it is. They didn't even listen to the Emperors edict at Nikea...

They were cooler pre heresy anyway. Everything is cooler in 30k!

A full codex would allow them to add Bikes as Troops for White Scars, and divorce them from the special rule in the SM Codex allowing them to be fielded as troops with the right commander. Which would come in handy if they planned on dropping that rule in the next Space Marine Codex.

You don't need a full codex for that. A supplement would more than suffice.

I understand that.

People have also been theorizing that since Space Marines have traditionally gotten in a codex in EVERY editiion, and force org swaps have dissapeared in every 7th edition codex, that the force org swap for bikers as troops will dissapear in the next Space Marine codex.
In which case, they would have to errata a White Scars Supplement, but not a White Scars codex, as one would imagine that White Scars would keep bikes as troops, even if other chapters lost the option, since it's their thing.

What do you mean, 'errata a White Scars supplement, but not a codex'? They aren't going to do a WS codex, but a supplement that just says 'Space Marine bikers are a troops choice in a White Scars supplement' is completely feasible. Look at Iyanden, Black Legion, Farsight Enclaves etc.

Or just don't have biker troops, because WS aren't actually a 'bike chapter'. The bulk of their forces are Tactical Marines, usually in Rhinos.

yeah it's like a decade long fratricidal civil war that nearly destroyed what they'd spent 2 centuries building might have had an impact on them!

Haha good point well made. It's just quite a leap to go from not even listening to the Emperor to listening to a book the Khans brother who he didn't even get on with wrote. I wonder if it came after the Khans dissapearence.

That, or the Khan saw the wisdom in Gulliman's words, and undoubtedly recognized that out of all of them, Gulliman was making the biggest sacrifice, having the largest remaining Legion compared to the rest of them.

That and Leman Russ supported Dorn, and the White Scars don't seem to have a hold the Space Wolves in high regard (or so Scars made it seem).

Or maybe it was just because Gulliman carried the biggest stick at the time.

Yeah could be. I like the Khan from Scars, and the WS in general. I didn't really care for them before.

So why did GW turn their back on Black Templar so hard? All this love for other chapters, but they really closed down on BT.

Did their biggest proponent at GW get sacked or something?

They were pretty easy to absorb into the main codex.
Black Templars had 3 unique things going for them:
  • Emperor's Champion
  • later added to all vanilla
  • Land Raider Crusader
  • later added to all vanilla
  • Squads with Neophytes
  • any army list quirk, scouts in tactical squads

it is but a single special character is easy eneugh to add. Black templars I'm guessing just wheren't popular eneugh. they had the disadvantage of being the only Marine chapter with it's own 'dex, that wasn't a first founding chapter. so this proably didn't help them. the first founders just get more ink.
