I assume old, but then again if it's more along the Total War framework, that won't really matter

If it's "new" fantasy then it will fit with the "everybody fights everybody because reasons" approach.

This is great news, Medieval TW 2 is my all time favourite PC game, I downloaded the mod 'Call of Warhammer' for it a while back and although the team that wrote it did a great job on it i'm hoping an actual studio offering will produce an even more polished experience, here's hoping!

This is SEGA. The DLC will be Skaven, Dark Elves and Lizardmen, all races already in the game just unplayable because reasons.

We will have to see what the first map is.

Given how many factions every previous Total War game has had, we're gonna see a ton of diversity. The Empire will probably have a faction for each Provence, and will operate similar to how the Romans functioned in Rome 1(multiple auto allied factions, an election system for Emperor(Pope stand in), etc...)

There will also likely be multiple Dwarf and Brettonian factions.

I would guess that the first map will be centered around the Old World. Empire in the middle of the map. It will include Brettonia and the Border Princes, and Araby as well. North it will stretch up into the Chaos Wastes. Ulthuan will probably be at least partially on the map. Dark Elves may not be playable at first, or they might have the Arks be included in some way. Giving them "mobile" cities or fortresses, could be cool.

Ogres would be a relatively easy port of the previous Horde mechanics that existed in Rome Barbarian Invasion. They could settle and form temporary "cities" in areas and do recruiting that way.

I'm hoping they go with a mobile city concept for some factions.

The map could also use the Empire mechanic where you shifted through theaters rather than focuse on one area of the old world.

True. That might help get some areas connected. Could help with certain areas being separated by large areas of "not much".

Also, this game will allow for the fleshing out of minor factions that never saw the light of day in the TT game. Cathay, Border Princes, etc...

Does it follows TT Tech tree or is it possible that Brettonians may develop firearms and have musketeers?

There were limitations back in 6th for dogs of war, mainly that Bretonnians couldn't take any. It was against their knightly code, but we'll see what this game does.

Back to OP, I'm super excited about this. I've always loved the total war series and hopefully this game will be similar to an ironed out version of the call of warhammer mod, which is amazing. Nothing more fun then setting up a custom game of max volley guns vs. max whatever else.

Every development video I've watched for Attila : Total War made me think that some of the new mechanics would translate quite well into the long rumored Warhammer game. Such as greater customization of characters, via customizeable item loadouts(magic items.) the new Horde mechanic, (Waaghs or an Ogre migration), and the increased focus on religion, new ways to wage war and plagues.

I hope it pans out and is successful!

I was thinking the same thing with the seven seals of the apocalypse being able to translate into the End Times leading to the rise of Nagash.

Oooh! Hohoho think of all the various fractious skaven clans. That'd be really nice as a feature. I really hope i can make smaller skaven clans into skavenslaves or some sort of vassal clan aligned with one of the 'greater' clans. Possibly even have the 'greater' clans be similar to choosing a religious alignment for your warlord clan except instead it's more like 'greater' clan vassals/alignments.

I find it hard to be enthusiastic about a game CA is making. Having bought Rome 2 as a pre-order, I can say that there are still bugs to this day and it only really became playable a year or so after its release.

That being said should they happen to make a working game I'm sure it will be awesome!

Never really interested in WFB as my investment in 40k is as much as I can handle. But I have always like the aesthetics of some of the armies.

I will definitely consider this title. Commanding armies of skeletons or reptiles, I am there!

Even on launch, the Rome2 title was not that bad. Yes, the AI was predictable and you can bet that every fight still yet is going to be cavalry around the wings, skirmishers in front, heavy infantry straight forward. The naval combat is horrid and 1 squadron of elephants will squash 300 dudemans until they get dragged down.

But presumably, the TW studio is not going to be building this thing from scratch. Scenic cityscapes with interactive fortifications, siege engines, macro economy, and multiple 'big' factions with varied sub-factions is a given. I'll take buggy-on-launch Rome2 mechanics that will continuously improve if it allows me to watch dwarven crossbows cutting down chaos marauders and hellcannon obliterating high elf formations.

http://www.gamewatcher.com/news/2015-10-03-sega-releases-15-years-of-total-war-retrospective-video-teases-warhammer-adaptation-in-the-process

To celebrate fifteen years of Total War games, Sega has released a retrospective video that charts the course of franchise from inception to present day, showing all the games that have been developed from the original Shogun: Total War to the recently released Total War: Attila.

Most tantalizingly, the trailer also appears to tease the Total War: Warhammer game that developer Creative Assembly apparently has on the boil but has yet to make official.

The existence of Total War: Warhammer was unceremoniously outed back in January when eagle-eyed fans spotted a reference to the game in the officially produced Art of Total War book.

Way back in the mists of 2012, Creative Assembly signed a deal to make multiple games set within the fantasy version of Games Workshop's highly popular tabletop board game.

Games set in the Warhammer 40K universe it seems, wasn't included in the deal that was struck.

The tease, naturally brief as any decent tease should be, appears at the end of trailer where a purple haze engulfs the screen before a guttural roar closes the video out.

Check it out for yourselves below.

... I'm not really sure some purple mist and a roar that could be pretty much anything counts as a tease as such but there you go.
