Just started making a new Deathstrike Missile Launcher and I've noticed a total lack of upgrade parts in this box.
I didn't notice that with my previous box, but it's actually annoying me now.

The box is lacking:
Dozer Blade
Hunter Killer Missile
Pintle Mounted Storm bolter/ Heavy Stubber

Not to say I want to use all of those upgrades, but seriously, the Basilisk kit had all of those and more.

Is this true with all the Manticore/Deathstrike boxes or did I just get shafted with this one?

Thanks

On moon miranda.

I don't think any IG tanks come with the accessory sprue that has the stubber/dozer blade/HK missile anymore. You've got to buy it for $15

FW kits however I think still always come with it IIRC.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

You're fething right.

............... So they're charging the same price for less in the box and then asking you to buy the bits they took out for almost an extra THIRD of the price?!

That's a real kick in the teeth.

Yup :(

Though I did confirm what Bobthehero said, the Chimera has *most* of the accessory sprue included in the sprue (not the extra crewman or track guards though) with the top half of the hull. Only the Chimera has these bits however.

Sadly the Chimera sprue is the only place where the hull Heavy Bolter is located, meaning that every single Basilisk kit they sell is incomplete.

Yup. GW tanks always got the accessory sprue (be it the old one or the current one), and then one day GW took it out and left the price the same/upped the price.

Fun bunch, aren't they?

I will admit I'm slightly annoyed over this.
Thanks for the responses though guys.

This is why a lot of people here say that GW products lack value, as opposed to just costing too much. If they want to put the price of a Russ up, then ok, that's their perogative. But to do that and remove the accessory sprue and then charge extra for that sprue, that's bad value.

Welcome to the Games Workshop hobby!

In the last few years they cut the IG and Dire Avenger boxes in half with no/almost no price reduction.

They once cut their epic boxes in half, which meant you couldn't build a legal unit with the models in a box.

they'd sell us half a tank in a box if they could.

As I mentioned, they already sell an incomplete tank kit (the Basilisk).

I don't think they'd have half the problem with recasters that they do now if every damn player didn't feel stiffed every time they bought a box retail. Not to mention there's a lot of recasters out there who will sell their copies with stuff like the accessory sprue because they know people want it. I know talking about recasters is frowned upon on here, but I only bring it up to make the point that when someone selling a bootleg has better 'business practices' than the legitimate company, that's probably a bad sign.

Because of the constant repackaging with fewer models and bits at higher prices, my spending on anything GW related has largely dropped to zero, picking up stuff only when I've got store credit or like an Amazon gift card or something.

It's one of those things that gives Forgeworld such value for Guard players in non-US/UK regions.

In Canada, I could go a GW/non-discount store and pay $60 for a plastic leman Russ, and $20 for the accessory sprue to have a "complete" tank.

Or I could spent 10-15 dollars more (depending on the exchange rate at the time) and buy a Death Korps of Krieg Leman Russ kit from FW, get the full plastic kit, the accesory sprue and the fancy Death Korps tank with the fancy forgeworld turret, track guards, trench rails, etc. As the only plastic bits you use is the bottom hull and the sides/tracks, you can buy those bits off ebay for $20, and for slightly less than 2 plastic tanks without accessories, I can have a fancy Forgeworld tank, a plastic tank and accessories for both of them!

Nevermind Australians where the math to come out ahead is a lot simpler....

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.
