Fair enough. Great stuff here quite like the Golem look for Stormcast but you definitely made the right call keeping the Chaos stuff!

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. Anytime! Being a lurker for so long, I finally realized that amazing work definitely deserves kudos. That sounds like a good pace; I will be waiting impatiently

Cultists, Mutants, Traitors, & Dregs of Society - a Lost and the Damned PLOG

Then suddenly I saw it. With only a slight churning to mark its rise to the surface, the thing slid into view above the dark waters. Vast, Polyphemus-like, and loathsome, it darted like a stupendous monster of nightmares to the monolith, about which it flung its gigantic scaly arms, the while it bowed its hideous head and gave vent to certain measured sounds. I think I went mad then.

Silver Tower really inspired my hobby mojo. First two finished minis since January! Only needs basing. I'm planning a Tzeentch-themed force for AoS and the core is two sets of Silver Tower.

Yeah, a beautiful job on those Pink Horrors. I know I just echoed what AOV typed, but those are literally the words that came to mind before I scrolled down and saw what he'd typed....

Thanks a lot you guys! The pink horrors are my first models that I tried to do zenithal highlighting on with the airbrush, in fact my first airbrushed models period. It didn't have the effect I want (not nearly enough contrast) to so I had to do most the highlights by hand in the end. Still happy with the result though!

Then I watched a tutorial on airbrushing blue horrors and realized you have to go out HARD with a very dark color and then hit it zenithal with a very light one. So I did these blue guys. Base coat Kantor Blue, zenithal Baharroth Blue, zenithal pure white, then an all-over glaze of guilliman blue, and lastly a much more sparingly applied zenithal pure white. That's all I did on the skin, then I painted all the detail. All in all I finished them in three days, which is my speed painting record by a country mile. Quite happy with them as well, I reckon it's pretty good tabletop. Creds to the YouTube tutorial for giving me the basic process for the skin. Don't have good lighting for photos unfortunately but I salvaged it reasonably using the iPhone photo manipulation stuff.

Thanks, the green is actually Vallejo fluorescent green, I have the pink, blue and green and they're extremely vibrant and fit demons perfectly. Then just some spots of zenithal pure white and a glaze of waywatcher green. The pink horrors are basecoated in the pink although the highlights are done with normal paints.

Very nice Mym. I rattlecan zenithal some of mine and yeah - needs to have a very very strong contrast to work well with the successive glazes. Woirks great though. Blue horrors are looking damn fine. Nice job on the mystic fire too

Next model finished for Silver Tower, not 100% finished but only missing basing and some shading/highlighting on the cloak.

Took this picture with my new photo booth! Around $30 for the lights, then a box and some baking paper. Not as easy as I thought taking photos with it, but the results are great once you edit them a bit. Photo taken using an iPhone which is why it's not super sharp, the digital zoom obviously leaves something to be desired. Will use my digital camera next time.

Lovely work on the Silver Tower stuff so far, am into the Stormcasts myself at the moment so the Knight Questor is especially inspirational. The light box seems like an effective, simple and cost effective way to take pictures. More ST progress please Mym.

Thanks Thrax, your stuff is quite lovely as well and I follow your plog. I will certainly post more ST stuff but I'm in the middle of a five week vacation (all away from home) and so haven't been able to make any progress for a while.

Well, I'm back to painting! I had five weeks vacation with the family, driving around the country and having a generally good time. Just got back on the 22nd of August and started a new job the day after... So I've been a bit busy to say the least over the next month I'll be focusing on painting up my AoS Tzeentch army for a tournament in October. Unfortunately it's all unpainted, so all I'm aiming for is a base coat with the basic colors blocked out just so I can attend the tournament. Which means I won't have any nice photos of finished minis in a while. So for the moment I'll just give you guys a snapshot of my painting desk at the moment:

That's not daunting at all, now is it

Long time no see! As predicted, my AoS army never got further than the basecoating stage before the tournament, which is why I haven't showed it off here. True to my inability to focus on any project for long, I got inspired to start my Imperial Fists a couple of weeks ago. So far they consist of a box of Betrayal at Calth and some tactical marines, although I've got an Imperial Knight, three squads of Deathwatch Veterans, one squad of Deathwatch Vanguards and one Deathwatch Venerable Dread as future allies. All unassambled. I decided to make a 30k force that can also be used in 40k, mainly because no one at my club actually plays 30k

So far I've assembled 30 bolter marines:

The bolters will be painted separately which is why they aren't glued on.

And I also did this:

A Calth Contemptor! Nearly every joint is altered from the derpy standard pose:

The head was cut out and placed looking sideways. The weapons were cut off their mounts and angled outwards. Normally you only get one Kheres Assault Cannon, so I stole one from my other Calth Contemptor (who will probably become a close combat guy). The legs were the trickiest part, but still easier than expected since I didn't alter the knees. I would've liked to to make the pose better but I couldn't be arsed to! After cutting off the legs, I drilled out 4.5mm holes in the legs and pelvis. I then used 4.0mm plastic rod as connectors, which allowed me to wiggle the rods around so I could mount the legs angled outwards. They are secured with green stuff in the (hollow) legs and pelvis, and super glue.

Here is the result:

I will probably add some additional detail to this guy as well.

Next I would like to assemble the Cataphractii Terminators, but I want two Storm Shields and one Assault Cannon, and I only have the Assault Cannon so we'll see about that.

Finished the first Kairic Acolyte (sans base) for my Tzeentch army! Tzaanuary cant come soon enough! My current goal is to keep focusing on AoS so my army is at least in a somewhat finished state for the Fantasia tournament in may, or failing that the one in October.

Thanks AoV! Tried something new with these guys, airbrushed the skin in three steps with dark red and ruddy skin tones before going in with the brush. Really helped get those base shadows and highlights. Hope you guys can stand my glacial update pace I'm no azazelx or grimdork, that's for sure! On the plus side I get positively giddy the few times I actually do finish something.

Well guys, I haven't posted but I HAVE been doing stuff. Almost got 20 Pink Horrors polished off, and spent the entire weekend building and priming 9 Tzaangor Skyfires and...
This guy!

WOW what a model! Huge and amazingly detailed, but a dream to build like all newer GW kits. The wings have been airbrushed and will be shaded and highlighted by hand. The rest of the body will be airbrushed the same blue as the top of the wings, with cream belly and throat(s). Really loving painting this guy.

They are a ton of fun, almost too much detail though which will be a pain to paint :p the Tzaangors on discs aren't very poseable but the LoC has a ton of options and the Tzaangor on foot are true multi-pose.

How did you decide which parts to use on your LoC? There's so many, I just can't decide!

Thanks! Well... I wanted the single staff held in both hands, but realized it would make him harder to paint so I didn't do that. Then I wanted the outstretched hand but found the little anus-finger disgusting so used the sword instead. The rest are based on what looked cool, most are Kairos bits I think. Used the two heads because... two are better than one I can also use him as either a LoC or Kairos which is convenient. So that's my scientific process.
