Ah! I have never considered that I may need to lead-line the doors to better smite mine enemy!
Coupled with a pneumatic ejection system (for added realism of course!) maybe some dry ice smoke for dramatic effect so my opponent cannot see their models being smashed...
The three-door dreadnaught drop pod would do in a pinch for flattening anything short of a tank.

Aw heck, the model is solid enough that one of these devices should allow for a properly simulated drop-pod insertion:

Surgical tubing is awe-inspiring when it comes to rapid acceleration.

Too bad chaos cannot have drop pods, all those spiky bits on the doors would be terrifying.

I had taken pity on my opponents and all my pods have rare-earth magnets at the top to help keep the doors closed (sometimes even when I want them open).

I figure for added fun, create a rotating base with a motor so those doors can smash anything near to ensure the insertion zone is well clear.
It could be used in Bayblade in a pinch.

Great idea! I hadn't even thought about the increased damage possibilities of a chaos drop pod. Spiky bits, spears, demonic apparitions. Now we are talking serious damage. Common household nails would work perfect I think.

I for one am in favor of chaos having drop pods. If they have battle barge, strike cruisers, thunder-hawks...they should have drop pods...

Except that they don't - they have Battleships, Grand-Cruisers, and Stormbirds.

Really they have both. They might be more limited but they have all the weapons of the IOM hidden in the warp.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

Nothing can compare to using a Dreadclaw instead of a Pod. Solid resin and twice the size plus with blades!

I've actually seen cheap ones modeled by moving the Drop Pod wings down.

As far as we know, drop-pods are irrecoverable once they slam into the ground.

"The Drop Pod is not capable of launching under its own power and once committed to a planetstrike cannot be recovered until much later, generally by far larger vessels not intended to operate on the front line. Having been recovered after a successful operation, they are returned to the war ship that deployed them to receive any needed repairs before being used once more." Imperial Armour volume 2 Second Edition

As for Thunderhawks, according to Horus Rising chapter 7:
‘...known as stormbirds,’ the iterator was saying as he walked them forward. ‘The actual pattern type is Warhawk VI. Most expedition forces are now reliant on the smaller, standard construct Thunderhawk pattern, examples of which you can see under covers to our left in the hardstand area, but the Legion has made an effort to keep these old, heavy-duty machines in service.'

The only time I've ever accidentally broken a model was a mate's centurion. He'd put one together with lascannons before remembering that he meant to use grav guns. So one of his three Centurions were Lascannon while the other two had grav. As he was explaining how the glue he used was really strong and no amount of tricks to get the arms off worked, he'd resigned himself to just having a lascannon model.

That is until just as I was putting the model down, another mate accidentally back handed it across the room where it hit the wall and the arms conveniently popped off.

Not entirely sure if it was my fault or the other guy's but my mate didn't care at all.
