Pyromaniac Hellhound Pilot
In the warp, searching for Marbo
|
Came up with this combo for when my Guard and Angels are teaming up.
For 130pts
Special Weapon Squad w/2x Demo charges, 1x Meltagun
-Drop Pod w/Deathwind Missile launcher.
I feel that three charges would be pushing it, and if they survive, the meltagun would be of use. But that's TWO demo charges(depending on dice rolls) right where you need them turn 1! Say good bye any poor sod not in a transport.
I plan to run two pods of these guys, next time I'm running guard blob and Angels.
Thoughts?

I'm confused. Are you saying you're going to put Guard in a drop pod?
If I'm reading this correct, you cannot do that to my knowledge.

7th edition marine books have drop pods as a choice in fast attack. Since they aren't dedicated to any specific unit you are good to go for placing allied units within them (assuming you are battle bros)

Interesting, I wasn't aware of this.

Paint them all Marbos and you're good to go!
I'd probably go with just 1 squad. There might be less targets than you'd want. Considering how often you meet mechanised, alphastrike or MC armies.

I used to do this with my Elysians, before they nerfed our special weapon squads. It worked about as often as not, but the SWS never survived...

Yeah, good point. I'd probably use meltavets, or melta assault(marines, who have failed me every time ) with the second pod. Or maybe, I'd drop melta guys first, and hold the demo for second.

Can go for a flamer inferno. Might depend on your meta. But i guess guards need more melta in droppods than anything else.

I feel your pain man. I haven't played Marines in a while, but it seemed like every time I needed a few melta guns to do something I'd roll like poopoo for them to hit. It's not just me either. My buddy dropped three 2x Melta, CombiMelta ASM squads on turn 1 in an attempt to alphastrike Fateweaver. 9 meltas. . . 4 hits lol. That damn melta curse
