Subject: Army suggestion. I'm looking for something lightly armoured and hard hitting.

I have my eye on a rather lengthy list of non-GW miniatures that I have cobbled together by hand. I would like to at some point use them in 40k, but I'm wondering which rules I should use. I won't show you what models I'm thinking about because I don't want that to affect your thoughts. For example, if they look Orkish, you would suggest Orks. I want an entirely different play style to what I am used to, which is Khorne. So, I am not adverse to using psychic powers.
Most of these guys are relatively lightly armoured, but they are not naked either. I'm imagining 5+ saves and 4+ on the officers. They are all reasonably well equipped with top of the range gear, no handmedowns from 10,000 years ago. They are non-Imperial human, and have had friendly connections with xenos in the past. They are emphatically not Chaotic either, they are a fringe group who are opposed or at least morally superior to the Imperium. I imagine them mostly as a rogue traveling bunch who own a small fleet of starships. They have a limited supply of vehicles, which include some drones (a lá the drones that US military uses to kill Afghan civilians). They will rely a lot on stealth and remote warfare, never daring to get too close. Obviously as the game dictates they will be in battlefield situations, but for them if they are fighting on the ground with even numbers, that means something has gone wrong.
I have had a few ideas, but I'm not really leaning towards anything in particular. Thank you.

Would help if you had images of the models you're talking about or a link. But, don't forget about the D-99 Inquisitor Regiment of Guardsmen or the Elysian Drop Troops. Imperial Armour has more than a few 'alternative' Imperial Guard options.

Also the fact that they're xenos-aligned humans. And they're immune to chaos. And you don't want to get them close to anything. And you want them with Sv 4+. And you don't want them to ever be in a fair fight.

Couldnt they be the Gue'Vesa of the Tau Empire? Its a well knon fact that numerous legions have defected to see the Greater Good done, and a new and better way of life created for its citizens. The grimdark saps the soul and moral strength of the Imperiums citizens and the simple task of survival has become their all consuming burden. The Tau mpire represents a completely new way to live and be free to pursue the tasks you are best suited to arrange.
These legions would work best under their own coand and so they could be top of the line armed and armored by their Tau allies. STR 5/ AP 5 guns carried by Guardsman, their sergeants wearing the officers armor of the Fire Warriors as honorary members of that august body of soldiers?
Through the generations, these legions have replaneted their society within that of the Greater Tau mpire and been allowed to benefit from all the Empire offers to thoe who offer of themselves.

It's not that I don't want them in a fair fight, it is a game, of course I want the games to be fair. But, in my headcanon, they don't like fair fights. It's a sign that something has gone wrong.
I am thinking about the Tau suggestion though, I do like some of their vehicles, just not the infantry.

Enclaves are anything but lightly armored.
Gue'vesa themed tau empire army is what he's looking for.

Gue'vesa is a term for humans serving the Tau in the background.
They do not actually have models or rules.

Do note, the IA3 gue'vesa rules are terribad fluffwise (they are like cultists there!)
Gue'vesa soldiers are usually made as stand-in tau, using tau rules and modeling them as guardsman/scouts/scions with FW shoulderpads and guns.

I took Tau bodies and attached IG heads. Made perfect Guevesa. I really wish they HAD added them as a third option for troops. And theres room in the 40K universe for them because the rules were in a book called Chapter Approved. You can find that information online.
