Keep in mind that $41 price tag is for three models.

Technically, it is a number.

But I was kinda hoping for a little more information about the relevance of the number.

It's an era of the 40K universe where there is little else than good marines and bad marines, with crazy good equipment, mostly FW models and rules.

It's one of them weird things people get into when 40K is not niche enough for them

Is there a permanent stickied thread for Chaos players to complain every time someone/anyone gets models or rules besides them? If not, there should be.

That sounds like futuristic gay porn to me.

30K is the short way of referring to the period of '40k' timeline known as the Horus Heresy, in which the Space Marines under the Emperor and Primarchs have conquered most of the galaxy and humanity is at its golden age. Horus, the Warmaster and the Emperor's chosen son, is then corrupted by Chaos (I oversimplify a bit here) and half of the 18 Legions of Space Marines side with him against the Emperor and mankind, some for loyalty and others for their own gair or because they were forced to. This plunges the Imperium into a civil war, the first time Marines fight Marines, and basically the galaxy is torn up by this huge conflict.

Eventually, the battle ends at Terra, with the Emperor slaying Horus but becoming catatonic himself, thus leading to his being interred on the Golden Throne. After this, the Legions disband, forming Chapters, and you get the start of the '40k' setting that we know today.

Forge World provides models and rules for playing in this era, largely Marine vs Marine but they are branching out into Imperial Army and Ad Mech. Black Library also do a series of novels, which are working through the story. I can't speak for most of them, but the first three (Horus Rising, False Gods and Galaxy in Flames) are well worth reading, good books in their own right.
