Saw this on One Ring, figured it was worth reposting here: a couple of separate sources have been told the Sourcebooks that are currently 'no longer available' are getting a reprint!
http://www.one-ring.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=30369&view=unread#unread

If true, this is awesome, a sign that GW has not yet given up on the game, and hopefully an indication that there has been a bit of an upsurge in interest for LotR!

If they do reprint them I will buy the whole lot, no joke. I am really irritated that I missed out on getting them!

I have all but the main 5 in electronic format. I am pretty sure ill do the same though so that i can always have the game for myself.

Yeah, I have some of the electronically, but books are much nicer to have to flick through and also to use during games.

Agree with the above, have both physical and digital versions of books and really struggle using the latter for some reason!

Although the reprint is good news, there is in my eyes some bad news... In the win a height of a space marine in minis competition the rules state that no lotr or hobbit boxes can make up the prize. Could this mean that they have limited numbers of them in physical form and they don't want them all to go too quickly? Not a sign for the better i fear...

I doubt it. I think it may just have to do with them not being allowed by the contract

I own them all, but I would buy them all again just to help the game. Even if I dont play it anymore, would make a nice gift for someone whom may be intrested in the game

All i need is the free peoples book and will buy it + other goodies to hit free shipping in a heartbeat.

I have Moria & Angmar and the Mordor books coming to me but not having a book for all my elves and dwarves is a bummer.

Ill have to start planing out enough minis to hit free shipping based on what might be killed next. Plastic kits I think are safe, fincast kits have had a few vanish. but those metal blisters... no telling which one will get the axe next.

I'd buy the real books as well provided they're released for a reasonable price. Got all LotR books digitally but prefer having actual books.

I guess that I should sell my duplicate now, then, before they do a reprint, when the values of the source books are still pretty high.

I think I have at least two of each, with the exception of Legions of Middle-earth.

not sure if this means anything, but my local gw just sent back all it's lotr books.
they still had all the army books (mordor, moria, fallen realms, kingdoms, free people) and all the journey books.
i had just recently bought all the army books at the same time I made the plunge and bought smaug.
i asked what happened to the other books (thinking maybe someone had come in and bought them all up)
the manager, who is still new (only like his 3rd week), said that corporate had ordered all the lotr books to be shipped back.

i don't know what that means.
yes, there are books on the shelf.
but if corporate orders them back, doesn't that cost more to ship them and then destroy them, then to actually sell them?
it didn't make much sense to me,
especially, sense i was the one that was recently going in there to buy up all the old lotr stuff.

yes, i know that gw's hold on lotr is fading.
but, the week prior i had just bought up all the army books and smaug....
i didn't get the journey books, though (dang!).
so now i have to find them from the secondary market?

maybe just bad luck for me.
or maybe a sign that they are actually going to do re-do the lotr/hobbit book line?....
this is gw.
so who knows.

Interesting news, although possibly bad news, given GW's habit of recalling and destroying and they don't want to sell anymore (see Dreadfleet). It makes no sense as a policy, but GW are known for their 'if I can't have it, no one can!' attitude.

I'd like to think this means a reprint, if only to keep the game accessible, or if we're really lucky, a new version of the One Book to Rule Them All with everything in one place.

How does a game manufacturer enforce a recall?

By recall, I meant taking any unsold copies off the shelves and purportedly getting rid of them (apparently this was the fate of the Dreadfleet game, remaining copies being destroyed rather than sold at discount, as that would reduce the 'value' according to GW )

Obviously they aren't going round gamers and forcing their copies from them (although I'm sure they'd try if they could!)

I just wonder how their meetings go.

Hay guys LOTR is not selling very well, what can we do to fix it?
Well we could lower pric *BLAM*
Any other ideas?
OH OH I KNOW I KNOW!!!!
Lets keep the price the same *Sounds of a bolt pistol being loaded* WAIT!!
Keep the prices the same but cut the model count in half thus doubling the price of basic warriors.
Raising prices on our other lines always works because we make the best minis on the market.
Oh lets also start killing off some key units and take all of the forces of good books off the market

At least the perry bros make some good stand ins. Other historical minis work as well but a lot of them are easily picked out from a mile away and do not really blend in.
