That captain clearly wasn't planning on facing something tougher than himself - normally for a space marine captain i'd say thats a fair assumption but lets face it, a chainsword just can't cut it when the opponent is covered in chitin'.
I recon a combi-flamer rather than a pistol might've turned the result around - it's just like gobels said "...preparedness makes us powerful, butter merely makes us fat."

Eddy: Interesting choice, but the combi-flamer being one use means Buster would only have got one shot out of it for the whole bout, and been left with a bolter he couldn't fire and charge with in the same turn. From what was available for the 10pts he had to spend, the chainsword & digital weapon fit out offered him the best force multiplier he could hope for (in terms of total increased number of attacks over the bout). But yeah he still sucked.

WARHAMMER FIGHT NIGHT!

Heavyweight Bout - Chaos Lord Naachal 'Lights Out' Nightbringer vs Wolf Lord Ulrik 'The Fenrisian Whirlwind' Morkai

Bob: Hi! I’m Bob Cunningham
Jeff: Hi! I’m Jeff Buchowski
Both: Welcome to Warhammer Fight Night!

Bob: Good evening folks, welcome back to the Johan Frederickson XVII Stadium here on Sunny Ichoban Prime. Tonight's matchup, a bitter bout born of the Purge of Lucid Prime as we see Chaos Lord Naachal 'Lights Out' Nightbringer come to blows with his old chum Wolf Lord Ulrik 'The Fenrisian Whirlwind' Morkai in a contest for the Heavyweight title. As usual, I welcome back my co-commentator as always on fight night, Jeff 'Six Heads' Buchowski - Jeff, how do you see this one going down tonight?
Jeff: Hi Bob, well I'm not sure we will see any 'Honour's End' this evening, as I don't see any Flesh Tearers in the crowd! Ha ha!
Bob: Ha ha indeed Jeff, one for our older listeners...
Jeff: Ha ha, yeah Bob, but I would be lying if I said my interests were completely neutral here tonight
Bob: Indeed Jeff, one of the old school in the ring tonight?
Jeff: You bet Bob - another Veteran of the Long War like myself, I cant see this fight going any other way than Naachal's. He was a tough guy back in the Great Crusades, and a couple of millennia in and out of the Eye of Terror has not mellowed him any, that's for sure!
Bob: Ha ha, alrighty then Jeff, and what about the other contender - anything to say about The Whirlwind's chances tonight?
Jeff: SERVANT OF THE FALSE EMPEROR! Die! DIE! DIEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Both: (slightly uneasy silence)
Bob: OOOOOOOOOK folks, er.....lets get a better look at the at the stats and load outs of the contenders going into the ring tonight. For that, we go ringside to our man in the maelstrom, Eddy Butler.

The Contenders
Spoiler:

Eddy: Thanks Brian. Lets take an overview of what both contenders are rolling with here tonight:

Chaos Lord Naachal 'Lights Out' Nightbringer
- Terminator Armour, Sigil of Corruption
- Burning Brand of Skalanthrax, The Murder Sword, Blight Grenades, Combat Familiar, Gift of Mutation, Ichor Blood,
- 250pts

Wolf Lord Ulrik 'The Fenrisian Whirlwind' Morkai
- Armour of Russ, Belt of Russ, Storm Shield
- Frost Axe, The Wulfen Stone, the Helm of Durfast, Digital Weapons, Frag and Krak grenades, meltabomb
- 250pts

Eddy: Okay, so looking at the basic stat lines you can see the two belligerents are very equally matched, the wolf lord just edging it with the extra attack and special rules, but paying almost 40 points more for the privileged.

Which means of course that Naachal has more points to spend on toys, and boy he doesn't hold back. Combat familiar and Ichor blood are gonna be lucky to get through his opponents armour, as is the Burning Brand of Skalanthrax. However the stand out equipment of the Chaos Lord's armoury have to be the Gift of Mutation, which could bring anything short of Spawnhood or Apotheosis, and the Murdersword - despite its ridiculous name, when selected for 'murder' Ulrik will be receiving S8 AP1 instant death hits all match! Ouch!

But that's not to say the Wolf Lord doesn't have his own bag of tricks. Armour of Russ means he will be hitting first in all combat, while the frost axe has a good bite of its own, especially when boosted by a furious charge. Rage also means up to 7 attacks on the charge, with rerolls to hit from the Helm of Durfast and a reroll to wound from the digital weapons. He also has the edge in the invulnerable save department, giving 'The Fenrisian Whirlwind' a 3++ save against the all powerful Murdersword.

Interesting sub text to the fight here though is that both contenders will be hitting at I1 after modifiers, meaning a double KO is a real possibility. Should be quite a bout - back to you Barry.

Bob: Thanks Eddy, well both contenders have made their way into the ring, so with out further ado lets go ringside and join our fight commenter, Barry MgGuire.

Round One
Spoiler:

Barry: Evening Folks, Seconds out, there goes the bell and we are off. Before we get going, Nightbringer rolls on the chaos boon table... and picks up 'Strength of the Berserker', boosting his Strength to 5! The Whirlwind has the higher initiative though, thanks to his armour, and he rumbles forward a solid 5"

He tosses the krak grenade but is has no effect on 'Lights out', so he calls the charge... and makes it, a great 8" move. Overwatch has no effect, while Morkai lands four great blows with the axe, wounding Nightbringer once.

Lights Out wheels around, ichor blood and his combat familiar doing no damage. He brings the Murdersword down in a wounding blow on Morkias, only to be blocked by the storm shield!

The Whirlwind then comes hammering at his opponent again, landing four wounding blows on Nightbringers chest. The Sigil of corruption tries to absorb the blows - but its no good! Lights out is going down!

He flails with the Murdersword as he goes down, but can't strike a telling blow on Morkai! Combat familiar gets a lucky hit in there, but it's not enough!

First round to the Wolf Lord!

Round Two
Spoiler:

Barry: Seconds out, round two. Nightbringer rages forward, getting a solid 6" move. Shoots a gout of flame at Morkai, but he emerges form the inferno intact

NIghtbringer then attempts the charge... and fails! Oh the shame of it, only getting a 2" charge!

The Whirlwind comes forward, tossing the obligatory krak grenade to no avail.

He then charges Lights Out, getting a comfortable 8" charge in and surviving the wall of flame unblemished.

Ulrik smashes into Nightbringer, only to find himself in the midst of a blight grenade! His charge looses momentum, and with it go three of his attacks! He still manages three mighty cleaves of his axe though, but this time the sigil of corruption stands firm!

Lights Out ducks and weaves, coming up with the Murdersword in a vicious sideways swipe, but it bounces off the Wolf Lords shield

Morkai turns, smashing the axe into Nightbringers armour three more times - only for the sigil of corruption to absorb all blows again!

Lights Out slips behind The Whirlwind as his momentum carries him past - he thrusts with the Murdersword at Morkais back - and it slices through the armour plate! Instant death takes its toll, and Ulrik is down!

Round two to the Pride of Purgatory!

Round Three
Spoiler:

Barry: Seconds out, round three. Ulrik makes a poor start, only getting 3" - not even close enough the toss the grenade.

He attempts the charge... and fails! To make matters worse, he takes a wound from the wall of flame and is (soul) ablaze!

Nightbringer's turn, and he stumbles forward 2", another gout from the burning brand having no effect

He lines up the long charge... and makes it! He lands a crushing blow to The Whirlwinds face, but both wounds are saved!

Morkai's fury is palpable now, and he unleashes a series of devastating blows on Naachal. The sigil cannot cope and he is down to one wound!

Nightbringer is hanging on by a thread - but that's all he needs with the Murdersword. He brings it around in a wide ark towards Morkai's head, but he brings the storm shield up just in time!

The Whirlwind whirls, and the frost axe comes down on Naachal's head - and its lights out for Lights Out! HE IS DOWN!

Morkai takes the third round!

Round Four
Spoiler:

Barry: Seconds out, round four. Nightbringer is looking down the barrel of the gun here. He makes the move forward, but its not a good start - only 2". The over-priced flamer does nothing, and then he fails the charge! Oh the infamy of it all!

Ulrik smells blood, and hammers forward 6". He gets the charge in - a massive 10" - and burst though the wall of flame to almost smash the dark lord off his feet!

The Whirlwind swings his mighty blade, and scores four hits on Nightbringer! Once more the sigil overloads and its two wounds on the Lord of Chaos!

Naachal tries to retaliate, but he is oozing blood at a rate of knots. His blows are easily dodge by Ulrik, and he ducks lazily aside

Morkai closes in from behind, bringing his axe down in an overhead smash of epic proportions - and Nightbringer is down! Oh they mush have heard that crack all the way to Eye itself!

But wait! As Lights Out flops to the ground, he brings the sword round in a low sweeping blow and hacks the leg off of his opponent! Any wound will do in the world of instant death, and The Fenrisian Whirlwind is down too!

Its a DOUBLE KNOCKOUT!

Round Five
Spoiler:

Barry: Ulirk is still in the driving seat, but he is going to have to put and end to this comeback now or never. He rushes forward another great 6", but in his blind fury forgets to toss the grenade

He makes another terrific 10" charge, and barrels directly into Nightbringer once more!

A flurry of blows are landed, causing three wounds! The sigil tries to absorb the impact - but only saves one!

Nightbringer is on the edge of defeat once more. Blood spiriting from every orifice, he feints left and then thrusts right towards the Whirlwinds exposed head...and scores a direct hit! No chance for Morkai to get his shield up in time and instant death lays him low! The PRIDE OF FENRIS IS DOWN!

Nightbringer takes the fifth round, taking the match to an unprecedented six round!

Round Six
Spoiler:

Barry: The comeback to end all comebacks is on! Lights Out moves forward with purpose, getting a great 5" start on his opponent. He flames the opposite corner, but to little effect. He goes for the charge...and makes it! Fantastic 11" move!

Ulrik strikes first, gaining the extra attach due to Counter Attack. The frost axe whirls through the air, cutting and slicing at the chaos lord! He gets in three more wounds once more - and once again Naachal's Sigil is only able to absorb one of them! So close for the Whirlwind!

Nightbringer reels under the attack, his face bloodied but unbowed! He bellows an apocalyptical roar and thrusts himself straight at Morkai's onrushing form! The bodies meet in a sickening crunch of ceramite, only for the blade of the Murdersword to erupt out of Ulriks back! THE WHIRLWIND IS DOWN!

Lights Out brings the night here, in dramatic style!

Do a Dark Eldar Archon. Archon, Huskblade, BlastPistol, and Shadow field. 145pts , put him against anything! Or replace the Huskblade with a Agonizer but I personally like the Huskblade. That would be a fun one to watch!

Another good one would be a Tau FE commander. Comander, Shield gen, TL fusion blasters, Fusionblades, and stim injectors 170 pts! I've used this guy so much, his kill count is Kharne, Skulltaker, A GREATER BRASS SCORPION(YUP KO'd A SUPERHEAVY), knight titan, Tyranid Prime, assorted other baddies. Let's get these guys in the fight. But not against each other, Archon will win.

FOR KAAAAAAOOOOOOOOSSSSS!

"Because the Wolves kill cleanly, and we do not. They also kill quickly, and we have never done that, either. They fight, they win, and they stalk back to their ships with their tails held high. If they were ever ordered to destroy another Legion, they would do it by hurling warrior against warrior, seeking to grind their enemies down with the admirable delusions of the 'noble savage'. If we were ever ordered to assault another Legion, we would virus bomb their recruitment worlds; slaughter their serfs and slaves; poison their gene-seed repositories and spend the next dozen decades watching them die slow, humiliating deaths. Night after night, raid after raid, we'd overwhelm stragglers from their fleets and bleach their skulls to hang from our armour, until none remained. But that isn't the quick execution the Emperor needs, is it? The Wolves go for the throat. We go for the eyes. Then the tongue. Then the hands. Then the feet. Then we skin the crippled remains, and offer it up as an example to any still bearing witness. The Wolves were warriors before they became soldiers. We were murderers first, last, and always!" —Jago Sevatarion

WARHAMMER FIGHT NIGHT!

Middleweight Bout - Commander 'Lill' Bulldog' O'Vash vs Captain Lazlo 'Loverman' Bel'Ami

Bob: Hi! I’m Bob Cunningham
Jeff: Hi! I’m Jeff Buchowski
Both: Welcome to Warhammer Fight Night!

Bob: OK folks, thanks for joining us again here at the Johan Frederickson XVII Stadium on Ichoban Prime. Tonight's matchup, the defending Middleweight Champion Commander 'Lill' Bulldog' O'Vash goes up against the new contender, straight from the perpetual gloom and misery of his Chapterword Medusa, Captain Lazlo 'Loverman' Bel'Ami. As usual, I welcome back my co-commentator as always on fight night, Jeff 'Six Heads' Buchowski - Jeff, how do you see this one going down tonight?
Jeff: Hi Bob, how's it going? First off, I have to say the little blue dude did an awesome job in the first bout, seeing off another SERVANT OF THE FALSE EMPEROR, and you know what? After that performance I found a new respect for the little fella.
Bob: So you think he has a good chance of retaining his title tonight?
Jeff: Oh, god No Bob!
Bob: Great Jeff, great. OK folks, lets get a better look at the at the stats and load outs of the contenders going into the ring tonight. For that, we go ringside to our man in the maelstrom, Eddy Butler.

The Contenders
Spoiler:

Eddy: Thanks Terry. Lets take an overview of what both contenders are rolling with here tonight:

Commander 'Lill' Bulldog' O'Vash
- Iridium Crisis Battlesuit, Shield Generator, Stimulant Injector
- Plasma Rifle, Fusion Blaster, Repulsor Impact Field, Onager Gauntlet, Neuroweb System Jammer
- 197pts

Captain Lazlo 'Loverman' Bel'Ami
- Artificer Armour, Iron Halo, Shield Eternal
- Jump Pack, Power Fist, Frag & Krak Grenades, Bolt Pistol
- 200pts

Eddy: So if we begin by looking at the Basic Stat lines, you can see they are fairly well balanced - 90pts for the captain vs 85pts for the commander, the Captain going better on Weapons Skill, Toughness and Initiative while the Commander trumps on Strength, Wounds and Attacks. Looks like this one will be decided in the equipment load outs.

Now including equipment, the Captain weights in at a beefy 200pts, right on the limit of the maximum weight and as a such he might have a slight advantage over his opponent. A lack of shooting threat means we'll see plenty of krak grenades being thrown pre-assault, while the Power Fist takes the Iridium battlesuit's armour save out of the equation. The Shield Eternal is probably his biggest advantage though - Eternal Warrior is massive in this format, and will make Loverman very tough to take down.

As for the 'Lill' Bulldog, same setup as previously - the Iridium battlesuit's T5 takes him out of the insta-death zone on anything the captain has. In contrast, the plasma rifle and fusion blaster combo takes the Captains artificer out of the game, but no instant death advantage. Relentless on the suit also allows the Commander to fire everything pre-assault. In the close, no instant death means we'll see O'Vash switching between the Onager gauntlet and his tiny fists of fury, while the Repulsor Impact Field is a nice I10 free hit.

Should be an interesting fight, back to you in the studio Timmy.

Bob: Thanks Eddy. Well, both contenders have made their way into the ring so with out further ado lets go ringside and join our fight commenter, Barry MgGuire.

Round One
Spoiler:

Barry: Evening Folks, Seconds out, there goes the bell and we are off. Loverman gets the advantage due to his higher initiative and moves forward. Starts of with a 4" move, saving the jump pack for the charge. Tosses a krak grenade but fails to wound

The Captain guns the jump pack and makes the 7" charge! Hammer of Wrath fails to wound O'Vash, while his Repulsor Impact Field scores 5 hits on the Captain, but also fails to wound.

Lil' Bulldog attacks at the higher initiative and opts to use the Onager gauntlet, but fails to hit

Lazlo comes back, getting fours hits and 3 wounds - but the commander makes a save on the shield generator and then two more on FNP!

Bulldog comes on, once more using the onager gauntlet - this time he lands the punch and wounds, only for the shield eternal to absorb the hit.

Loverman strikes back, landing 2 hits and 2 wounds - O'Vash tries to block but he fails the save and FNP! He's taken two wounds!

The commander once more tries his luck with the onager gauntlet, but fails to hit. He just doesn't seem to have his punching boots on today!

Lazlo come around and lands three more hits, getting two wounds but the Battlesuits shields do their job and absorb the blows

Bulldog finally lands a hit with the gauntlet, sidestepping the shield and inflicting a wound on the captain! Eternal warrior showing its worth and keeping him in the match!

Loverman fights back and scores two hits, wounding once - but O'Vash's shield generator is up to the task!

The Commander brings the gauntlet down once more, scoring a hit which once more evades the captains shield! Another wound!

Both contenders feeling the pressure now - loverman launches a furious attack, landing two blows that wound! Bulldog tries to dodge but cant! He fails his save and FNP and HE IS DOWN!

Round one goes to the Iron Handed Walking Atrocity!

Round Two
Spoiler:
Barry: OK folks, seconds out, round two.

O'Vash gets the start this time, making a solid 5" move. Plasma and Fusion both get hits on the Captain, but he blocks them with the shield.

Commander makes the charge, forgoing the onager gauntlet for the tiny fists of fury - he lands 2 hits that wound, but the captains artificer armour easy absorbs the blows

Loverman hits back, landing three wounding hits - O'Vash tries to block BUT FAILS! Two wounds on the card from the off! Disastrous for the blue man!

The 'Lill' bulldog is reeling - he comes back swinging, again with nothing but his fists! He lands two more wounding blows, but again they bounce off the captain!

Lazlo spins and catches the Commander with a stray fist, only landing one wounding hit but that's all it takes! O'Vash fails the save once more and takes another wound!

Bulldog gets a grip and launches himself at the captain, landing 2 wounding blows. Loverman tries to block but still lets one through to take a wound! Can the commander reel him back in?

The Captain doesn't think so - he launches a blistering counter attack, landing two more wounding hits AND THE BULLDOG FAILS THE SAVE! HE IS DOWN!

Round two to the Pride of Medusa!

Round Three
Spoiler:
Barry: Seconds out, round three.

The defending champ is looking down the barrel of a knock out here! Loverman looks to end it this turn, coming forward 5". Krak grenade hits and wounds, but is deflected by the commanders armour.

Loverman once more hits the boost button and slams into the commander! Hammer of wrath causes no wounds though, and Repulsor Impact Field is equally ineffective for O"Vash

O'Vash strikes first, once more looking to the onager gauntlet for solace - but fails to hit!

Lazo replies in kind, missing all four hits with the power fist. Boy, quality of this fight just took a nosedive - lets hope it improves soon....

.....EIGHT rounds of slap and tickle later.....

...and the Commander swings but once more deals a killing blow to thin air only! Well, the crowd are losing the will to live here, and who could blame them!

Loverman lands three blows, wounding on two and one finally sneaks through the Tau's defense! O'Vash takes a wound!

Boy the energy is sapped form both these guys right now! Bulldog once again swings the gauntlet but the captain easily dodges

Lazlo jumps and get 2 wounding hits in on the commanders face - he fails another save! He's down to two wounds!

Bulldog erupts with fury, recharging his batteries and he finally gets the hit in! Lazlo fails to block and now he takes a wound in return!

But he replies in kind, looking to stop the commanders recovery in its tracks! Bulldog down to one wound remaining!

O'Vash's title hands by a thread! He brings another tired swings down towards the captain, but once more it is easily dodged!

The Bulldog is dead on his feet, and Loverman knows it! he goes for the haymaker...

And it crunches home! O'Vash had no chance!

Loverman takes the Bout in a Knock Out result!

Round Four
Spoiler:

We'll be right back after this Commercial break...

Round Five
Spoiler:

I said we'll be right back after this Commercial break...

Bob: OK, Thanks Barry. Well Jeff, I guess you called it right after all - the Captain coming out on top with a protracted knock out?
Jeff: Yah, that's right Bob. Bulldog put up a good fight but he just couldn't handle the damage output from his opponent. Both fighters had the advantage of avoiding the dreaded 'instant death' but Lovermans brute force showed through in the end
Bob: Ha ha, I guess you could call that 'Tough Love' for the Bulldog, right Jeff?
Both: (awkward silence)
Jeff: That's just sick Bob...
Bob: Ahh, er, and what about our friend form the eastern fringe - you think we'll see him back again?
Jeff: Doubt it Bob, I can see the Ethereals in the crowds already sharpening their honor blades - don't see him making back to the ship, let alone the Eastern Fringe.
Bob: Alright folks, thanks for joining us, we have our new Middleweight Champ - Captain Lazlo 'Loverman' Bel'Ami - lets see how long he stays there. Coming up next, the after show party featuring Judy & the Juggernaughts. Stay tuned....

No it's a trade all attacks for a single s10 ap1 in melee, but it's reusable.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

Eddy: Load out was certainly an improvement on poor old Caito - Loverman just needed to complete his, er, training before being able to compete (for 'training', read being painted as quickly as possible with a small demanding child in the house...)

Eddy: See below for official rule clarification

Eddy: Glad you enjoy them! We always endeavor to craft our reports using only the finest cheese available in the Grim Dark (currently the 'Stinking Guardsman' stilton of Covaxus IV)

Eddy: Also has Concussive, Spotty Vision (see Blind USR), Headsplitter special rules.

Headsplitter: If the killing blow is scored with this attack, you may remove the head of the model (even if it doesn't belong to you) and flick it across the room why shouting 'Boooom-yeah!'

I think Kranon the Relentless(or a close facsimile) would be good in this arena. For CHAOS! FOR THE DARK GODS!

Or maybe a lord decked out with Khone daemonkin goodies. Axe of Khorne, MoK, Blood Forged Armor, SoC. 180 points

Or be real evil and swap Blood Forged Armor and Axe of Khorne with Kor'Lath, Axe of Ruin for 160 points. Blood for the blood god! SKulls for THE SKULL THRONE! BLLOOOOOOOD!

*Edit: Sorry, lost my cool for a moment there. Excuse me while I get a cold beer.

Eddy: As soon as these contenders have been officially sanctioned by the G.I.T.S board (for sanctioned, read: when I have got my hands on a copy of the new codex and read it) we will see what we can arrange!

The taller/Lighter Crisis and Shorter/Heavier metal captain presented some interesting 'positional challenges' that resulted in a lot of off camera fingers and dice propping. Glad it was worth it!
