That's cool. A lot of useful cron stuff is out of stock on the web store. I wish they'd make a plastic 3pack of grotesques, too.

I may just have to start collecting Necron

So that is what, Destroyer variants, Flayed ones, and all the named characters?

Do you think that Harlequins are a 2-week release, and then another release of Necrons?

Harlequins are definitely more than a 2 week release. We know what's coming week 2 and it doesn't have the Codex or the transport thing that's been rumoured.

I'm thinking this is more "local GW has received orders from head office to send back all resin Necrons because they're going direct only."

Modern GW don't generally share their release info with their shop staff, I'm skeptical they would in this instance.

I'm pretty sure you are correct.

My local GW has a ton of stuff which was being called back, not simply resin Necrons.

I think the Necron rereleases will be like the Dar Eldar finecast to plastics, where they just popped up between other major (new unit) releases.

All resin necron kits had gone today, but also the web-order only isn't available for some.

Shards (x2), flayed ones, destroyer upgrades, lord upgrades, all characters... gone...

Ultimately, I think this is more likely. By all accounts it's been happening with a lot of the Hobbit/LotR resin sets so they can go direct only, so I imagine this where the Crons are going.

In the short term, sure -- it's a way to stretch out resin oop boxes. But, long term, those resin kits will go plastic.

Nope, GW is just slowly phasing out Finecast.

Yeah but long term all resin kits will go plastic. Could be God knows how long though.

A lot of the GW stores are sending back much of their old Finecast stock, in addition to some plastic kits that aren't selling as well in that particular store. The general purpose for this is that GW is doing stock redistribution. Stores that sell more Ushabti will get more Ushabti while they may not sell as many Blood Knights so are sending those off to another store.

That being said, I would venture a guess that at least some of the models being shipped (it was three large boxes worth at one local GW) will end up being redistributed to the web store as they move to direct only. This could be in anticipation of a total phase out or replacement. Also, I have a feeling this won't be the last such stock movement.

This seems like horrible timing. The new codex just came out, so now is the time that everyone will be wanting to dump lots of money into new Necron minis, but now a substantial portion of that line is unavailable. Phasing them out over a couple months prior to the new dex and having a bunch of new plasitcs drop would have people frothing at the mouths for them. Now people are just going to be even more pissed at GW.

It's bad, but let's no go overboard. It's hardly a "substantial" portion. It's one unit and some characters.
