Where are you located? Taking a month for shipping isn't the norm for most locations.

I like TheWarStore in the US; great shipping rates, great prices, great stock.

Warehouse and distribution, yes. Production, no. All production was pulled from the US several years ago and consolidated at GW's headquarters in Nottingham.

eBay all the way. Best prices, easy purchases, so much better than GW. There are also other sites, but some you have to call to place an order, as they can't technically sell online directly due to GW's restrictions

What? Where do you live in the US? I've literally never in my 11 years of ordering from GW had a single order take longer than 5 days or so. Also, the price of the hobby is the price of the hobby. I understand people have a problem with it, but to me it's kind of like complaining about the price of a Cadillac. You know what it costs yet if you'd like the car, you need to pay the price for it. But I'm in the minority when it comes to price.

Anyways, try contacting their sales team about shipments taking longer than a business week. They should have an explanation for you.

They can't have an online shopping cart because GW has weird rules. You can still call them up, talk to a real person, and ask for stuff.

I have no clue why it took a month, buy the 2 orders I placed last month literally took 5 days to get to me. I also enjoy using Frontline Gaming. They offer a 20% discount too I believe.

Except other people sell Cadillacs at a 20% discount. Why would you buy from Cadillac anyways?

I never said anything about having to buy from GW, just GW products. I'm all for discount retailers. Looking back on my post, it seemed I misunderstood and took the complaint to be about prices in general. Oh well. My point was that Cadillac and GW both have to set prices. In order for there to be a 20% discount, the original price needs to be set. Regardless, as I've said I don't mind and occasionally use discount retailers.

Yeah that makes a little more sense. I still think GWs prices are crazy high, but thats why I rarely pay full retail. The only time I do is when I buy from my LGS, a small independent where I play.

I buy a lot of my stuff from a LGS just to support the business. It means paying full retail often times, but I believe that having an environment to play the games in is worth the expense.

It's not. It's just against GW's trade terms for US retailers to sell through a webcart.

There are plenty of US stores that sell GW stuff. They just have to do it by email or over the phone instead of through an online shopping cart.

Hold on. What? Where did this come up anywhere at all in this thread? Please point it out for me.

zilka86 wrote:But by doing that arent you braking the law bu buy gw stuff illegally

No. Because as said it's NOT illegal for sellers in the US to sell GW products. Again, this was told to you in the post RIGHT ABOVE YOURS. Read.

Sellers are not allowed to have a traditional "shopping cart" to sell GW products. Instead, you usually sign up to receive an email with the store's inventory on it with instructions on how to order anything you want.

No, its not illegal for stores to sell GW. GW's contract with LGSs says that they can't sell online with a shopping cart. Meaning that you have to call or email the store to place the order.

The Warstore is the most well known seller of GW, offering 20% off, and a flat $6 or so shipping. Ebay is fine as long as you work with the reputable sellers there.

Hey man, I tried. They tried. We all tried. The only thing he will read from your post is "can't sell online" and call it a day.

Then your understanding is incorrect.

GW's terms of trade simply forbid stores from having an online cart. There is no problem with them selling through email or over the phone.

Furthermore, GW's trading terms are not law. Breaking GW's trading terms is not illegal. And those trading terms govern the behaviour of sellers, not customers. Buying GW merchandise is neither illegal, nor a breach of GW's trading terms, even if the seller is in breach of those trading terms.

That's because when you buy stuff straight from GW, you're giving them the full retail price for the product. When they sell to a local store, the store pays them less than that, because in order to make a profit, stores have to be able to buy product for less than they sell them to customers for. If GW sold stuff to stores at the same price they sell stuff to end-users, then the stores would have to charge their customers more in order to turn a profit on that item.

This is also why stores make a profit even when stuff is on sale - despite the reduced cost to the customer, the sale price is still higher than what the store paid for that item from its supplier. Stores often make huge amounts of money during a major sale, because they're moving a crapton more product than normal, because more people are in buying more stuff than they normally would, just because it's cheaper. A major example of this would be Black Friday in the USA - it's called Black Friday because that huge sale is when the store goes from being in the red (meaning losing money) to being in the black (meaning making money). A lot of stores are "in the red" for most of the year, but make enough money on Black Friday to keep going for another year.
