Okay. For this debate let's set the $$$-to-models aspect aside and just focus on the rules.
Wouldnt you think Immortals are a better deal than Warriors?
At 4 points more per model, you shift from 4+ armor to 3+ armor saves and from S4 AP5 guns to S5 AP4 guns. So if you take a full squad of 10, thats 40 points more. To me, it's worth it. There's a lot of things out there that negate 4+ armor but when you move into 3+ terriritory the enemy has to bring out his biggunz. When combined with reanimation protocols, this makes for a really survivable squad.
But the difference is not just better defense, but better offense as well. When was the last time 10 bolter shots intimidated anyone? However, 10 S5 AP4 shots are suddenly not so easy to pass off. It's the 24" equivalent of more than 3 Heavy Bolters firing from one squad. Can you imagine equipping your basic troops choice squads with 3 Heavy Bolters each? It gets even better at rapid-fire range - you can maul most squads if you make them eat that and overwatch before they get to assault.
So if Immortals werent prohibitively expensive moneywise, and if most Necron battleforces didnt already give you a bucketload of warriors, I'd say every Necron player should rather buy Immortals than Warriors. What do you think?

The choice really depends on how you are fielding your entire army. It really doesn't come down to which one is better than the other, but which one is better than the other in the rest of your army.
For instance, if you are running MSU, then Immortals are the better choice because they are cheaper. If you plan on running Nightscythes, they are also the better option.
If you are running an AV13 Wall, then Warriors are better, due to being the only unit with access to a ghost ark.
If you are running a Decurion, you are also running both.
Silver tide is also better with large blobs of warriors, thanks to the Ghost Ark.
So, you really have to look at what the general idea of your army is, before you decide which way to go with your troops.

Here's a better option, if you want Immortals, buy Necron Warriors and convert them into Immortals and Flayed Ones.
Cheaper and more options.

I think it depends on what you want and what you are facing.
Ghost Arks: Warriors
Night Scythes: Immortals
Enemies with Sv4+: Immortals
Any other Save: Warriors
Enemies with AP4: Immortals
Any other AP: Warriors

Immortals are great because they are survivable against most non-anti-marine weapons. Warriors, on the other hand, are prone to most weapons. The added firepower makes immortals able to easily pen/glance most light vehicles, and take out any T3+ models better than warriors.
Warriors are great for two reasons; Ghost Arks and points cost.
If you look at the cost of a 20 man immortal squad, it will cost 340 points. Comparatively, an 18 man warrior mob followed by a Ghost Ark is 339 pts. While warriors dont have the armor save, they gain a vehicle that gives them cover 5+, extra firepower, tough armor, and the ability to bring them back after they've failed their many saves. Your opponent now needs to dedicate both anti-tank and anti-infantry at this unit, instead of just anti-infantry.
Even without the Ghost Ark, Warriors are still great if all you need is wounds; a 20 man mob is only 260 points, while immortals are 80 points more. This gives you a relatively cheap unit that can protect your ICs, and hold objectives.

Don't forget that Immortals have a 10-model maximum per unit.

Tomb Blades make immortals fairly redundant as for only a few points more they get +1T, 4+ Jink, TL, ignores cover and jetbike rules.

I mean, having 10 Tomb Blades is nice, but is a bit more expensive. I'd rather have both. Tomb blades to shoot at their targets, and Immortals to rapidfire and charge into combat.

I think tl-Gauss blasters are a waste on Tomb Blades. If youre gonna field them, might as well upgrade them all to particle casters. Have fun raining multiple S6 small blasts on your enemy.

That's like saying Bike Marines make Tactical Marines redundant. The Bikes for every race are superior to the foot sloggers. It's GWs way to entice you to spend $15 a model instead of $4 for your squads.
I'm taking Immortals for the same reason I'm taking Tomb Blades, for the Decurion requirement.

This. Everything has it's purpose, at least in my opinion. Plus, Anrakyr doesn't make Tomb Blades have Furious Charge and Counter attack. =P Automatically Appended Next Post: Sir Arun wrote:I think tl-Gauss blasters are a waste on Tomb Blades. Um, I guess? My preference is Gauss. We now have a super effective defense against 3+ cover save skimmers, Scouts in a ruin, Venomthropes and Tyranid Warriors, Tau markerlights/infantry, Orks in cover, ext. That's invaluable to me. We have enough infantry killing stuff in the form of blasts, especialy because if you jink you lose it....

I'm all for Gauss on Tomb Blades. to shred anything in cover, or that jinks. Also,Gauss gives it a better chance to do something against vehicles than S6 does.
Full Squad of Tomblades 10 Models, but have to buy 12 (4 boxes) 220points for $165, @$13.75 per model, 1.3 points per dollar
Full Squad of Immortals 10 models (2 boxes) 170pts for $66 US, @$6 per model, 2.6 points per dollar
Full Squad of Warriors 20 Models, but have to buy 24 with 6 bases of scarabs (2 boxes) 432points for $72.50, @$2.42 per model, 6 points per dollar

Warriors can cap at 20 instead of 10 so they can gain more from a squad specific buff like a cronotek.
Warriors are just as good at shooting av11+ or wraith knights For less points.
immortals are better in most other situations.
Tomb blades are better than either, but are expensive. They also lack objective secure, but the entire necron army will also lack it when running Decurion

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

There is another issue with Tomb Blades, possibly. Do they use the 60mm flying base? If so, then a large unit of them has a pretty large footprint on the table.

That's an interesing question. We would need to define some sort of metric for an even playing field, otherwise 20 Warriors out shines 10 Immortals or Tomblades at nearly everything, but costs more points. I suppose we could try even point value os each. I'll math hammer it out when I have a bit more time at my disposal.
