Hi I am brand new to 40k tabletop and have been trying to build either an infantry army or an armor army. I was looking for advice from some more veteran players about the pros and cons of each army.

In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium there are only T-shirts and and khaki cargo shorts!

Hi LRSM!
Vehicles are more popular but if you feel like painting lots of miniatures drowning your enemies in bodies is always fun.

M.

Jenkins: You don't have jurisdiction here!
Smith Jamison: We aren't here, which means when we open up on you and shred your bodies with automatic fire then this will never have happened.

About the Clans: "Those brief outbursts of sense can't hold back the wave of sibko bred, over hormoned sociopaths that they crank out though."

Depends on loadouts. In the end this edition is more about speed. Not neccesarily wipe enemies from table.

i have seen a multiple valk and scions with meltas work. Where the valks are buses schuttling around. Have as many bare leamans spread out over table to let you get to second turn.

Or you can do same thing with chimeras but they are slower and far more vulnerable to alpha strike. Just rember unless playing nids or green tide. Stay spread out. It really hurts when you get a space marine force cutting your troop up every turn.

If you play for fun nothing is more fun then playing ten troops platoons with auto cannons and a few lemans or demolishers spread out. Its lots of dice and not to hard to keep track of.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

I run a steel legion army which is mechanized infantry with tank/arty support. It's a faster army in both terms of getting around & in getting it painted up since it has fewer models than an infantry list. Plus it's a lot of fun.

Don't turn him away from the guard to the blood angles.

Tanks and vets in chimeras are powerful and more mobile. You will be able to put them together and paint them faster than mass infantry and thus play games with them sooner. Plus mass AV14 tanks with pask is one of our most competitive options. You will run low on troops and tanks near the end of the game, so better for maelstrum missions but not late game objective grabbing. Fast to set up and put away.

Infantry platoon hordes, can be fun. You can have more objective secured units than they can kill possibly. Not a lot of focused firepower and takes a long time to set up and put away. Also to move All the units.

I play mass infantry but it becomes a pain and the newer armies can actually kill a blob a turn and I loose more often than win. Not that i care much if I win but it gets annoying sometimes. When I want to win a game or play competitive I use leman russ tanks. But I play against Eldar and Tau.....

40k is as exciting as riding a pony, which doesn't sound very exciting.......

But the pony is 300 feet tall and covered in CHAINSAWS!

Hey! Welcome to Dakka Dakka Newe Imperial Guard Player! That should be your name!

Awesome! Guard are really cool man with all the tanks, transports, giant tanks, flyers, missile launchers, little nukes/Death Strike Missile Launchers, I could go on.

I have a playable Steel Legion, some FW Chimera twin linked heavy bolter turrets, lots of rounds going down range! I actually do better with my Guard than my Blood Angels. Plus I am building up a Cadian Army. I love tanks and transports myself. Wish I was home working on them now...

Well, welcome! Great to have you here!!

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of the women.
