So I was tinkering with this list, trying to get an effective non marked csm list. I was wondering what the good people of Dakka thought?

Warpsmith w/ Burning Brand

2 squads of CSM w/ 2x flamers and rhino each. Aspiring champs have lighting claw

2 chaos vindicators with siege shields and demonic possession

Chaos Predator w/ twin linked Lascannon and lascannon sponsons

Chosen w/ 4 plasma guns and rhino

3 hellbrutes/ with multi-melta, power fist and heavy flamer in murderpack formation (IWND and deepstrike)

How do you think this list will hold up? There are almost no flyers in my local Meta so I never really have to worry about them.

I've used the Mayhem Pack before at 1,500 (The 3x Helbrutes) and found that having 20% of your army showing up late by default is really inefficient. You have to ask yourself - What does you more good...having 3 Helbrutes that possibly won't show up until T5? Or 2 Maulerfiends and 10 Cultists from the start of the game.

If I were you, I'd swap out the Flamers on the Chaos Marines for the Plasma Guns you are currently running with the Chosen, and just don't run the Chosen as a unit. Use the extra Chosen as Aspiring Champions for your CSM squads because Lightning Claws suck in that application.

If you want to take 3 Helbrutes, just take 3 Helbrutes and forget the Mayhem Pack, at least at 1,500 points.

As for your HQ, I get that you want to use the Warpsmith to repair your vehicles, but he needs a bodyguard or he's going to get Roflstomped. Maybe take the points you threw into Chosen and buy him a Cultist bodyguard? Also, the Burning Brand is a lot better on a model with a bike and he can't ride one so...probably want to drop that IMO.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

What do you mean by using Chosen as CSM?

The Warpsmith was gonna ride with the chosen originally.

I would take Maulerfiends in a second but all my heavy slots are taken up by the vindicators and predator. Is there another unit you would recommend for tank busting?

I agree with you on the Burning Brand, I just didnt know what to give the warpsmith.

There is a formation in the new Siege of Vraks book that lets you have up to 4 heavy supports, with 1 HQ and 2 Elites being mandatory, it has some special rules that could fit an Iron Warrior theme pretty well.

I would drop the Burning Brand on the Warpsmith and the Helbrutes, run this as Crimson Slaughter, throw in a Forgefined (w/1 Ectoplasma Launcher), and give the chosen The Ravagers rule for 10 pts to give them preferred enemy

The Burning Brand is an excellent option, when you think about it. He's always going to have 4 attacks base at minimum thanks to those tendril things, so a hand taking up a range weapon is an excellent idea.

I plan to research into this as well. Plus you'd be able to have up to four Sicarans or Vindicators, and that's just cool.
