I was just going the the Gundam and SciFi Kits for 40K thread and came across the pics of the Technolog tanks and figured they were relevant.

The added height on the tanks, will make them closer to a Rhino Chasis. I'll have to try that myself.

I assume you clipped the pegs and just glued it in place? I gave my son 5 from the 10 pack but I might do this on the 5 I have left.

I did clip the pegs the first time, but you can just leave them as is and move the hull up. Further, you can even use the pegs and tubes as a guide and position the pegs on top of the tube instead of in them. That will result in a height that is a couple of mm shorter than the height above, but it can make a good guide for keeping it level.

I really like these they remind of modern tanks.

In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium there are only T-shirts and and khaki cargo shorts!

In a way that's the appeal to me as well.. but my decision had more to do with the cost. I like a 1/48 Merkova as my Sci-Fi MBT. It has a good size and a fairly futuristic look. Plus some of the kits can be bought cheap if you keep an eye out.. Not $6 cheap though.. which is what led me here
Having a huge lineup of tanks for some sci-fi scenarios that require them as scenery (ie mission on an army base or some kind of hostage rescue where mass carnage is not desired) is really sweet as well.

The 1/48 Merkava is a good choice. I've got one of the cheap academy kits that I did up as a crashed grav tank. Looks nice and sci-fi, especially when I put a tau hatch on top.

Is it the Academy kit that is meant to have a gearbox added? That's the one I ended up with. I have that and the Airfix Land Rover set along with a few other things I'm building up for an Expendables type army.

I'm not totally sure. I think mine might have been the academy kit as it even came with the remote control (just forward and back) which i didn't use. I'm not even sure if Academy and Kitech lines aren't the same under different labels?

Ah.. that does happen I believe.. Revell, Airfix, and a few others occasionally end up having others produce their kits or vice versa so I wouldn't be surprised.. I've seen quite a few of the Academy kits that are intended to have remotes/gearboxes and they're available without for a bit of a price cut. I think the design is universal and it keeps you from having to purchase if you already own it.. or somesuch.. I dunno. I just know mine was ~$10ish and didn't have the remote etc.

I was the one who originally mentioned that the banner design was the mk2. I suggested that after having a conversation with the site owner asking about that kit. The conversation led me to believe that it is in fact the design we see in the banner whether 15mm or 28mm.. whether the original was in 15mm is irrelevant, it's the design. Super Tank Mk2 at this point is being held up by funding at the caster. Also, as per that conversation, when the kit comes out the price won't be $6 anymore. It will be more but Ann did not specify how much more.

My gawd, they could creep up to $7 or even cross the $8 line!

Tank that you marked MK2 is 28 mm like a white tank it is in preorder and in near future will be in the markets/shop. ALot of painted tanks shown on the one pic, are 15 mm or somesthing like that.

As long as this thread has been resurrected, I'll add that I'm finally getting around to painting up a few of the Russian Sci-Fi tanks.

I need some APC's for a 28mm Mech Attack (Think Battletech with 1/10 the rules) game I'm running at Adepticon so I'll be slapping paint on a few this weekend and should have something to show shortly.

It's great to see these getting scaled up a bit, the only reason I've stayed away from them so far is how tiny they used to be.

Be careful in sizes because those (my) tanks are conversions. Originals not so long. I used two originals to create one colonial УТБ-МСТ.

Here's the thread on the big Mecha game I used them in.
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/687469.page

Two of them took the field in the game.

Here they are with some of our other game models.

Both of these got the height modification that I mentioned in my first post. Being made of proper Polystyrene, they were a cinch to assemble and customize.

The tanks are more than big enough for 28mm. The footprint is very similar to GW tanks, it's just that the height is more realistic . For an even better idea of the size you can access bigger pics here.

I like your conversions. And even having to cut up 2 tanks thats still only $12 a tank.

The bumping of this thread made me go look to see if they were still available, and i found that there appears to be a new variant available with AA weapons and uncovered tracks:

there's also this cannon thing which could be pretty good base for so mechanicus conversion work:

The Cannon has been around for years, but that new tank is pretty sweet and good to hear it's compatible with the earlier versions.

Here's the new sprue

Some Observations:
-The Hull looks the same.
-Tracks are an improvement if you prefer the Leman Russ uncovered look.
-The Turret is new
-Except for the small square rocket pods, all the weapons are the same styles as the Robogear mecha. Kind of a cool way to put them all in the same universe.
-Interestingly it has the clips for holding the Robogear spring-loaded missile launchers, and some of the missiles are included, but apparently no missile launchers.

Definitely! I've been using them for a while. I've made a few conversions (Mad Bull needed some major work), but overall I think they're great. I've got more tanks and a few more mecha to finish up and someday add to my forces.

But madbull has a great option for conversion (something like madcat/dog mode) plus a large set of weapons . But it is also true that a lot of trouble with him .Like with other Teholog stuff, you can convert them or it will be toy.The cockpit , glass, wires , additional hydraulics, it is the mandatory minimum . But this is part of the hobby that I love.

I agree. That's basically what I did with mine, using a chopped down T-REX canopy (luckly it comes with 2)

Here's my conversion thread from years ago with more details.

Here's it after adding a Chaos SM rocket launcher pack and being painted up by a buddy of mine.

Colonial Transporter began with this model.

The muzzle was originally conceived in the style of a "Nekromongers" from Riddick, since I was very lazy to move the cockpit back, and the skull was always at hand. Hump was born alone, but then there were attempts to somehow remove it.

And with these attempts of torment , began the choice of angle of caterpillers .
(Which is still not completely finished.)

As seen in this photo above, not a lot of choices, but the dynamics varies greatly. Given that we have here SCI FI physics, mechanics and logic, we ignore a bit.

Other photo in my lonely blog.

Are those warzone bauhaus riders in the back on the left? I've got a box of them that I've been meaning to paint up to go with my Void Junkers army.

Yes, those are bauhaus riders. I want to paint them at least two years . I think those riders one of the best dino riders. In the Void 1.0 interesting dinoriders too.
