Well ... the game's third faction is finally coming out this week. In addition to three brand new ships, S&V will also have access to the Firespray, HWK-290, Y-Wing, and Z-95 for seven ships altogether. Each of the Empire and Rebellion currently have nine ships, not counting huge ships. So with all that in mind, what do you think FFG has in store for us with Wave VII?

Alex Davy has mentioned that he's been thinking about doing something for both the X-Wing and bombs/missiles (TIE Aggressor perhaps?). He also mentioned brainstorming a new Aces pack that would feature the E-Wing and the TIE Defender.

I have mentioned before that I think it would be awesome to see Galen Marek/Starkiller's Rogue Shadow, with options to use it as either a Rebellion or an Imperial ship. Similarly, the Lady Luck could be a Rebllion/S&V crossover. Now that we've seen the Decimator and M3-A, I'd also like to see the Nova Courier.

Lady Luck isn't much of a fighter... it is a Luxury Yacht after all.

Other types of ships missing from the main cannon include:
Skipray Blast Boats
Arc-170's
Hutt Starhoppers

We have huge ships for the rebels and the imperials... I'm expecting a huge ship for the scum, thought I don't know what that would be.

I also expect something that tweaks the balance on the X-Wing. I also expect to see some changes with ordinance, since it is a largely forgotten part of the game.

Lady Lucky was armed with five laser cannon turrets and an ion cannon. Much like those up-gunned freighters already in the game, I think she'd do alright in a scrap.

My bet is on the k-wing and assault gunboat for wave 7, with some random ship I won't care about for scum. And really I don't care about the k-wing very much either, as long as I get my gunboats.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Other possibilities, considering existing FFG art, are the Kihraxz Assault Fighter and the PTB-625 Planetary Bomber.

The other, other option is that FFG makes up new ships/pilots. They seem to have a good relationship with Lucasfilm and have already collaborated with them to design the Raider epic ship and I expect them to do it again... maybe not for Wave VII, but some time in the future.

I don't see any reason why FFG shouldn't make up ships. I mean, why should LucasArts or Dark Horse do so but not FFG? In any case, there are other "established" ships I would like to see: the Hound's Tooth, the Lady Luck, the Rogue Shadow, etc. But the most important thing is that any ship FFG makes have a meaningful place in the game. For example, a lot of folks want a YT-2000 but it's another Rebel "turret" ... what does that add? On the other hand, S&V currently lacks a turret. Will the Rebels eventually get a ship with unorthodox movement? That would definitely add something. OTOH, I'm not advocating that each faction have all the same kind of options.

Well they have Y-Wings...

I agree there's no reason FFG can't make up ships, considering they have the license for not just X-Wing but also for their RPG.

As I understand it, the term "turret" used to reference the meta doesn't just mean any weapon with a 360 degree arc. To wit:
Paul Heaver wrote:Turret ships tend to be durable and can always keep fire on a target. They also tend to be expensive compared to other ships that have the same number of attack dice. They prey on arc-dodgers. Han Solo , Dash Rendar , and the VT-49 Decimator pilots are popular.

Yeah, the was kinda meant to show I was being tongue in cheek. I just got my Decimator/YT bundle from MM so was looking at the different ship tile thing that shows the turret primary weapon spiral arrow thing.

Oh sorry -- I completely misread that orkmoticon usage. Yes -- seems like "turret" in meta terms refers to a ship whose primary weapons start with a 360 arc, which all happen to be large ships with tons of hull and shield points.

I'm thinking a YT2000 for a Scum large ship - it'd give them their turret. Otana title card.

Maybe another small base ship for scum to help get them 'caught up'.

A Scimitar Assault bomber for Imperials, which would be ideal to put a munitions tweak in, as well as providing a very different ship to the regular Bomber.

Rebels I'm not really sure. I'd like a Skipray blastboat. Or a Stealth X-wing, with a small tweak included for regular X-wings, maybe via a Rogue Squadron title or something.

I think for Scum it would be cool to get the Dune Lizard and the Kimogila. Kimo as a large based ship. Round out the Hutt/MandalMotors compliment started with the Scyk.

For S&V, I am hoping FFG rounds out the bounty hunter contingent:

- Hound's Tooth
- Mist Hunter
- Punishing One

That's also in my order of preference.

Not so sure about Slave II.

The problem with the Hound's Tooth is that it is quite large, I think about twice the length of the Falcon.

They have already done most of what I have wanted to see, but I would still like the Skipray, the Tie Hunter, and maybe the K-Wing to be made.

Maybe the DP-20 Corellian Gunship for S&V as a competitor to the Tantive IV and that Imperial ship? The rebellion became interested in it after they saw pirates using it to raid Imperial shipping.

I think that would be a pretty good choice, though they might think it looks a little to similar to the CR-90...

It's a little larger than the Corvette (180m vs 150m), but I would be ecstatic if they made a Marauder.

But back in the real world, I think now I'm only waiting on the xg-1 (assault gunboat). I'd be very interested to see how the missile boat would be realised, rules wise though.

How about something completely new. A scum and villainy bar in SPAAAAAAAAAAACE.

Instead of a large ship, have a giant asteroid that's been hollowed out and is their smugglers den. Have it the size of the corvette and then make smaller asteroids (terrain) that the S&V player gets to set up around it to simulate an asteroid field. The S&V player plays defense in the game and can mount turrets to the asteroids for defense while the imperials are trying to knock out some criminals and the rebels are trying to take back their supplies. The base is too far into an actual asteroid field for the larger ships to get to or pinpoint with their heavy guns.

It could also double as a rebel place to hide from the imperial troops as well.

Reminds me of the Starforge Station (no, not that one) from the old d6 RPG book "The Far Orbit Project".

Hell just give them the Starforge. Large or Huge base, 100 points only to be used in Epic games, weak defensive weapons, no agility and 20 hull, maybe some shielding, gathers energy, or some new tokens and can spend them to make entirely new ships, complete with droid pilots.

Say whaaaaaa

True, but all the YT and TIE units share a common design philosophy. Why not the Corellian Engineering Corporation Ships?

The YT series are CEC ships.

I think the next thing to publish "Objectives and Debris".
Cargo ships.
Cargo containers.
Scanning rules covered (again?).
Imperial troop/boarding transports.
The big three armed star base!
Escape pods.
Gunships could not come fast enough OTOH.
Space gun turrets / platforms.
Some diplomatic transport...
Their own asteroids or Death-Star turrets.
Just a few wishes out there.

I definitely want an Assault Gunboat. Something else has got to have cloak in the game that isn't Imperial or a Phantom. - There will have to be a reason that 'Stygium Particle Accelerator' doesn't say Imperial/Phantom only, like the Advanced Cloaking Device does. So my vote would be a Stealth-X for the Rebels.

Assault Gunboat seems good for the Imperials.

Scum, hmm. Well, they're missing an all purpose fighter that's in the high teen to low twenty bracket (I'd see the Y-Wing as more of a specialist). So, something like a R-41 Starchaser, or a T-Wing maybe? Something closer to an X-Wing equivalent maybe? Possibly with just 2 attacks but ways to get extra dice?

It might be tricky though, because between the 4 fighters that are out, even though they haven't covered every typical role, they've got half a foot standing in each one.
