Questions:
1) Do the warbuggy kits come with a rockkit launcha? I've not seen anything other than a big shoota
- If they do not have rokkit launchas, how do you guys model them (assuming you don't have any spare rokkit launcha bits from boyz boxes and so on)
2) Where can alternative models / cheaper models be bought from?
- If so, web links are much appreciated!
3) Can we expect a replacement kit at all over this next year? The Orks on the kit look a little... unevolved? compared to the current plastics in the other kits.

The official Warbuggy model does not come with a Rokkit Launcha, or even a Big Shoota for that matter. It is an old 2nd edition model in dire need of updating, and it comes with a Multi-Melta, which was an option at that time. The Wartrakk model, which is equally old, does come with a Big Shoota (and no other options). If you can get your hands on some AOBR deffkoptas, it is fairly easy to convert them into great-looking rokkit buggies. That's what I did. Alternatively, you could look at Mantic's Marauder line. They look like nice and decently cheap buggies.

Puppetswar makes excellent ork/post apocalyptic vehicles including a buggy that's not small enough to be a lawnmower.

In addition to the great ones above, Kromlech has some 'non-suck' warbuggy replaments here.

Yes, the current kit is ridiculously out of date. That said, if you don't mind replacing the crew and the weapon - both fairly easy if you have a well-stocked bits box - then it's a decent kit, especially if you can get it cheap or second-hand.

But modern orks are so much bigger than 2nd ed orks it's ridiculous. I'm not sure you can put them in the old buggy.

I've seen a few people use the old trukks as buggies if that give you a good idea on how off the scale is

Yes, the ancient GorkaMorka trukk is fairly close to the Warbuggy in size, but the crew are even worse than the Warbuggy's crew. I've converted GorkaMorka trukks into a few things over the years, even bases for mek big gunz - compared to the warbuggy, the trukk has less useful detail, but similarly can look great with a bit of conversion and super-detailing. The GorkaMorka trukk is long out of production, but you do see it around second-hand occasionally.

That's a shame about the alternatives. I spent a bit more time looking at images of the sprues:
1) You're right it's not a big shoota, it's some bizarre alternative weapon with bottles towards the trigger end.
2) No alternatives apparent in the box for weapon.
3) The Orks are small compared to newer ones. They also have very skinny arms and legs. They look more like humans with over-sized feet and heads.
4) The Mantic Raptors and Raptor quads look reasonbly good though the lack of a driver in the front of it is a bit off-putting. That said, there appears to be a deal on the Mantic website for x3 Raptors for only £20 which is a steal compared to a single GW buggy at £18.50
