First post!

I've had a deep interest in Warhammer FB and 40K for a few years now, but mostly limited it to the fluff and novels. Painted a few minis here and there but didn't really have any overarching ambition to it, but I'm trying to change that. I've been getting back into model painting lately and decided to start with a few Nobz which is slowly becoming a proper WAAAGH! I'd love to play a proper tabletop game some day but no one in my area is interested, or at least as eager to pour hundreds of dollars into plastic miniatures as I am.

So! Here I am. More interested in modeling/painting/collecting than playing anything, but eager to learn nonetheless. Also looking to broaden my interests with other properties like Warmachine, Malifaux, or Hordes. I look forward to picking up painting tips and sharing pics of my on-going army!

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Welcome mate!
I was exactly the same as you, I started with Orks, more interested in collecting/modelling/painting, then one day you find yourself with a nice big collection just sitting there collecting dust, begging to be bloodied on the battlefield!

Seems like such a waste to collect and paint minis then NOT play with your friends!

Wish this was an option - none of my friends are interested in playing...

I was the same mate, just find a local group and then get them to slow time teach you when ready. I have made so many new friends, I have three social groups now! Friends from highschool (slowly drifting apart), work friends, and war gaming friends.

Ive only recently got back into the whole thing (still painting my first force in 15yrs!) but it surprised me how many little clubs and groups are out there. Were a reclusive breed but were out there!

Yes unfortunately GW's business practises among other things have pushed people away from our beloved 40k, especially to things such a Warmahordes, though stay strong brothers, there are still many of us out there fighting the good fight!

I joined a Facebook group of local players. Might find some games to sit in on while I assemble my army.

Sounds like a plan man! Meetup.com is pretty good aswell, i managed to find a really good group that meets weekly above a pub on that page. Also just Google "Warhammer" and "Wargaming" in your local area, you might be surprised to find some groups that meet near you.

There is ofc also any shops that sell minis, usually gaming shops double up as places to meet and play games.
