Wondering if anyone ever took ADL, VSG or whatever from Stronghold Assault for Orks. Thinking about taking some for my Lootas. Anyone ever did this? What can you say/recommend?

Aegis with Ammo Dump works well for Lootas.

Promethium Relay is a good alternative, makes Burna Boyz brutal, then add some barricades for Lootas and Mek Gunz.

Just because tournaments ruled it one way dosent mean the rest of us play it that way. Personally I would never allow the VSG to act like the old ork FF, no matter how much of a "needed" crutch it is for orks competatively. Its pretty obvious when they designed it it was never meant to daisy chain expand its protection to 3/4ths of the board. So ask your friends first before you invest, otherwise you will have a relativley mediocre unit for alot o cash.

I've played against mass lootas and grot bomms behind void shield network quite a bit. It's horribly good. Thing is unless you still play only eternal war missions a fully committed gunline doesn't do too well now. As just a firebase though it's nasty. Stick a counter assault element and some lone koptas inside too.

I use an Imperial bunker with the ammo upgrade for 8 lootas and love it. When ever I take lootas I always take this, I usually give it a quad gun too, but not always.

Imperial Bunker with Escape Hatch allows one mob of boys to pop up 12" into the battlefield.

Void Shield Generator with Green Tide is shielding for the whole army !!

I have never seen the shield 'stretched' like that anywhere except by LVO. To me that ruling is contra to their attempts to tone down things like invisibility regardless of whether it was proven op'd or not. Its a broken interpretation and I wouldn't count on most places allowing it.

People and events may choose to house rule it as only effecting models, not units, but that's not what it's rules say.

It's RAW. It only works because the Green Tide is one ridiculously large unit, and the Orks believe it will protect them.

I've run the void shield relay nexus, put it at the edge of your deployment zone, run trucks up to the edge of protection, turn two charges for everybody! Waaaaagh!!!

It's certainly written this way. Besides, not that it's overpowered or something. Most armies can down it in one volley of shots turn 1. VSG is more potent when you have a mech rush list cause this way you invalidate small arms fire. And in this very case it doesn't matter if you shield units or models.

Another fortification that might be interesting is a bunker with escape hatch. Put 10 manz / 9 MANz + Indeps / Council of WAAAAGH! inside, throw them up front 18'. Put mek gunz or lootas on the roof. Double profit.

RAW or not it's busted. I've been facing 9 shields since they dropped where apparently they literally just became the rage once jy2 let the cat out prior to lvo. Thing is lvo bans the network so it isn't that big a deal to rule that way i.e. RAW as you say. However things change significantly when you triple the protection. Chewing through 3 chimeras with unlimited fire ports that can transport an entire army including transports and super heavies is hard enough when it can't expand. If your local supports unrestricted escalation I guarantee that RAW approach will be revisited.

I'd prefer to face 'broken' VSG rather than perfectly legal pentyrants or serp spam.

ADL with an Ammo Dump with Lootas, Flash Gitz, and or Mek gunz can be pretty nasty. Personally, I use Lootas with mine. Sky shield Landing Pad is also great for Mek Gunz and a Big mek with a SAG. 4++ for everyone. You can even get 2 Mek Gunz units up on it. 5 gunz total. I used 3 Smasha and or KMK and a unit of 2 traka-kannons.

Having a bunker for the flash gits's limited range seems like a great idea. I tried the trick with grav cents and it does add range, so I think it's worth trying out. Yes the guns will be more random but it still could hurt.


although.... anyone else wanna try an Aquilla strongpoint loaded with lootas, SAG's and a git-finding Warboss all shooting at stuff?
