On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Thought people might be interested to know that the new website for Wayland Games has just gone live
http://www.waylandgames.co.uk/

The new Wayland Games site is now live! We are offering triple loyalty points on all qualifying purchases up until the end of March (each point is worth 3p instead of 1p)

Some of the new features include:

Loyalty Points - For every £1 you spend on our webstore you will get 1 loyalty point which is worth 1p. If you bought a product worth £110, you would be rewarded with 110 Loyalty Points. Which is the equivalent of £1.10 When you consider how much you spend on wargames throughout the year, just think how many Loyalty Points you could be earning to put towards your next purchase!

Clearer Stock System - The stock status' are now much clearer, with big bold green text for in stock, blue for available and if we can't get it, it won't be on the site.

Sponsorship Program - Sponsor you friends to make an account with us and you will receive 1 loyalty point for every £1 they spend for the next 100 days!

Easier Navigation - There is now a full set of filters on the left hand side which can be used to narrow down your search for a particular product.
Old Orders - We do have a few limitations with migration, we cannot migrate your order histories, and so orders on the current site will be moved to a new domain until all are shipped and no one looks at them any more (there will be a link in your account and an email with the link if you have an order still open), and we also cannot migrate customers passwords to the new site so password resets will be required which are really straight forward. All of your old orders can be viewed at http://old.waylandgames.co.uk

No orders are being lost as our back office system which we use to manage orders will remain in place for the next month or so. Then that will be replaced too!

We are looking forward to seeing you all on the new site. Keep you eyes out for some amazing special offers along side the triple loyalty points.

Layout looks to be an improvement over the last site, and the stock levels are much more visible than before.

'Deal of the day' is also more prominent, they have Star Wars Imperial Assault for a very reasonable £50 at the moment.

Will see if the customer service is any better. Glad they've admitted they were in the wrong about their stock levels indicator. Embarrassing they've climbed down off their high horse but at least they've admitted they were wrong.

Without snark, the loyalty points thing seems pointless. The rate is so small, it wouldn't really endear any "loyalty". You're clearly better off shopping around for every purchase still if a 200 quid purchase is going to get you a measly 2 pounds. If you spend ten thousand quid, you're only getting 100 back in savings vouchers...

Get the customer service sorted out and I might throw an order their way. Getting narky with people who have given you money, then asking if the orders been posted out after a month isn't really buying any loyalty from me.

It's a higher return rate than most loyalty cards, and they seem to work fine. People love loyalty points.

Sure you're probably still going to be able to find a better deal, but if wayland is the same price then this tips things in their favour.

Can anyone else see their old order history, when I go to the old site the sign in redirects to the new site.

I wouldn't mind but an order I placed two weeks ago for in stock items (that are now out of stock) hasn't been sent yet even though I e-mailed them to confirm they still had the items for me.

Seems about right for a loyalty scheme?!

I've got 0.90p from just over £100 worth of stuff from Element.

If they offered big discounts AND massive rewards, where would they make any money?!

You will be access the old site for order histories on http://old.waylandgames.co.uk. There is an issue logging into it at the moment which should be sorted today at some point, but nothing is lost.

There is also a link in the new sites my account section and order history to click on to access the old site.

Eh?

Someone says they got a snarky reply from someone in customer service. I ask for the ticket ID so I can investigate. I don't want customers thinking they got a snarky reply from my staff, I would like the information so I can make sure that it doesn't happen.

We have dedicated customer service staff and they are generally very good. But they can and do make mistakes. We, I know answer customer questions and tickets quicker than anyone else we know of in this industry and we answer the phone. Customer service is a real focus of ours but humans are not perfect so we monitor, retrain, change processes, investigate when things go wrong etc

Hey Joy,

We're pleased with our new site and hope it addresses some of the difficulties that some have expressed to us that they had with the old site. We're looking to continue to improve things so if you have anything you want to add, drop either rich1231 or myself a PM and we'll happily look into it for you.

You don't have to just go to our site to shop either, we've got some great contributions in our blog which are worth a read. If you fancy having a got at writing a blog article yourself, you'd be very welcome. Just PM me for more details.

I have a FLGS I use. And when I give him money, he orders product for me in a timely manner if he doesn't have it in stock (which is clear) and updates me if for some reason it's taking a while.

Blogs, Loyalty points, new look website etc are just polishing a turd of a company that doesn't give a monkeys if a few customers get screwed over because they have such a high turnover. Hopefully this won't get forgotten.

Come visit us (I'll even cover your petrol or train fare). You could not be more wrong about how Wayland operates. I realise that you can only form an opinion based on behaviour you see or from what you have heard but what you are saying is completely divorced from reality. We care about every customer (otherwise I wouldn't be spending time talking to you here).

The stock availability on our new site is much clearer (and we have plans to make it even more so).

So drop me a PM, let's get you down here and I promise you'll get a different view of us. I'll even shout you lunch!

And if that's not an overt bribe I don't know what is! ;-)

So, when are you guys going to open a store in or around Luton? I've heard your expanding and Luton would be a fantastic place for a store, big gaming community, no rivals and a short train journey to London!!

So when it says "available to order" what is the average lead time in getting that sent out to customers? I have had a quick browse and just one solitary item of twenty odd I was interested in is physically in stock.

Firstly, congratulations on the new website launch. I got a few deals last year and the site seems a little easier to navigate.

I see you have deals and reductions as part of the new site launch:

Any idea when it will be possible to put an order in for the Trollblood and Cygnar army boxsets?

Was going to say the loyalty points option is better on Wayland, although I have had excellent service from Element generally.

Want to support the new stores opening in the UK though (by Christ we need them in the UK, you guys in the States have no idea how bad it has become here!!!!1! ) so generally try and spread my purchases about a bit.

customer service was pretty good when I dealt with them - however that contact was due to me cancelling my order because of the INCREDIBLY long time to deliver the products I had ordered.

literally no reason to ever go anywhere else other than Element games. Shockingly slow order processing. Work on that before you work on your new swanky website and crappy customer reward plan...

Finally a functional website... just in time to lose all your EU customers thanks to ECB shenanigans.

It adds up more than you think. Miniature Market has a similar reward scheme that gives 1% back, it's nice for a small freebie order every few years. Plus they'll probably occasionally have promotions where you get 2x-4x loyalty points.

I ordered from Wayland Games only twice, and that was a long time ago. First time, I remember it took a really long time - 6 month odds, I think - to get stuff from the UK to Oz. A tad excessive when stuff I ordered from France got to me in a week.

Second time round, my order was cancelled and refunded without any explanation. I asked for one and nobody bothered replying. I even called, but nobody answered. Yes I did check timezones and opening times.

I have since found much better places to spend my money.

the new site is did not take any of the old order details over to it (although they will be keeping a version of the old site active behind the scene to fulfil all old orders)

I know, when I follow the link to the old site they provided in the e-mail, and try to log in to see the status of the order that should have been delivered by now, the login link redirects to the new site. As Rich replied, that functionality is not actually available yet.
