You're clearly better off shopping around for every purchase still if a 200 quid purchase is going to get you a measly 2 pounds. If you spend ten thousand quid, you're only getting 100 back in savings vouchers...
It adds up more than you think. Miniature Market has a similar reward scheme that gives 1% back, it's nice for a small freebie order every few years. Plus they'll probably occasionally have promotions where you get 2x-4x loyalty points.
Small freebie order every few years? Really? I mean, if that's all it takes to gain "loyalty" from some people over shopping around and shopping smart, than more power to them, I guess. On the other hand, if another place is 50p cheaper on a product, or even or even 1 pound cheaper overall on a <100 pound order, there's your loyalty bonus equalled or even smashed right there. First time, I remember it took a really long time - 6 month odds, I think - to get stuff from the UK to Oz. A tad excessive when stuff I ordered from France got to me in a week.
Second time round, my order was cancelled and refunded without any explanation. I asked for one and nobody bothered replying. I even called, but nobody answered. Yes I did check timezones and opening times.
I have since found much better places to spend my money.
In-stock orders from UK gaming companies tend to take 5-10 days to get here. Firestorm, Troll Trader, Warlord, Arcane, Foundry - it's all pretty damned good. If you're unlucky it might take 2 full weeks, or three at the worst. RM>Aust Post is pretty fast and efficient.

That's why it's excessively long. I do order from overseas quite often, so I'm cognizant of general delivery times.
Admittedly, nowadays, I just take the train to Mortdale and buy stuff from the Combat Company.

I order from them occasionally. They're very competitive on some lines, but oddly overpriced on others. Still, they're fairly nice to deal with and local-ish (ok, interstate, but you get my point).

European Central Bank - Just began its EUR 50Bn a month Quantitive easing scheme in Eurozone. Its likely the reason the Euro has weakened so much in last few weeks.

I've seen the new site - I'm not overly impressed - seems very blocky....but the images are bigger, it may grow on me
BUT given my experiences with poor delivery times (we're talking 3 weeks and I hand to cancel and go elsewhere) and this not being an isolated incident in my local group, plus the attitude I got when challenging this, has left no good will in the tank, I only order when the deal is too good, or there is no other choice - sorry but we've been burnt on 3 - 9 days badly too often
I am majorly concerned with the whole if we can't get it we won't stock it - my concern is I'm 1 month into an order (Reference: 150213-230125-4139) and no sign of it - and the item is no longer stocked
So - pretty sure the deal almost too good to be true, was - which cements my opinion

I use Wayland all the time and have had good customer service on all accounts.
I know some of the little company's take a while to send them stock, which actually caught me out on my last order which I'm still waiting for. Some of the order I wanted sooner rather than later for a tournament next month
That banner on the front page is too big though guys, can you shrink back down to the previous size, the banners on the other pages are a nice size though . Also your android version is a bit slow and awkward to use, well it is on my Kindle Fire.
The new blog sounds interesting will be checking that out.

Hi there, I will get some one to investigate in the morning. I remember a month or so ago we ran the new edition of what you ordered in a newsletter as a pre order and many were sold. I know most have shipped, which of course is of no consolation but I will make sure you get an explanation and an eta. Sometimes demands for preorders outstrips demand especially where for some products they come in drips and drabs for the first few weeks as different distros get their stocks. There isnt a unified street date in this industry, other than GW and FFG (recently implemented) as the supply chain just isn't anywhere near up to it.
No consolation tonight I know but we will get it sorted.

Free stuff every now and again, or a few extra quid off an order, seems reasonable on top of a decent discount.
Or yes you can shop around, get it cheaper and maybe get loyalty points with THAT retailer. But they ARE loyalty points so it's swings and roundabouts, innit?!

Thanks...
Screen resolutions have moved on quite a lot since we designed the first site... designed is probably a generous term actually, as I created it in a weekend chucking it together. Oh those simple days.
The site should be responsive and drops to a mobile skin when its shrunk to a particular size I cannot remember. If the banners are a major issue then we can take a look at doing something, not promising but we are asking for feedback and do listen.
Re speed - it tests faster than the old site, despite being a lot more sophisticated. A lot of caching is being built at the moment and so it could be that you will see a performance increase as more customers visit. And it is day one so an awful lot of people have been taking a look. But we will continue to monitor and listen and take corrective action where needed.

Just to make it plain, and without getting into a big argument about it, I find a 1% rate laughably silly. That's all. My opinion of this isn't exclusive to Wayland or anything - it's just pertinent to their new relaunch. I think if a 1% cashback creates any kind of customer loyalty to a store, then that customer must be a little soft in the head. Sure, if you get 60p off a subsequent order, sure, whatever, fine. But if that's enough to make people keep shopping in one place (and apparently it is) over regular prices, sales, and most importantly good service and supply, then there aren't enough facepalms in the world for me. Seeing Wayland make a big huge deal about it as part of their relaunch is just baffling. I actually laughed out loud when I read this in their email:
If you bought a product worth £110, you would be rewarded with 110 Loyalty Points. Which is the equivalent of £1.10 When you consider how much you spend on wargames throughout the year, just think how many Loyalty Points you could be earning to put towards your next purchase!
To wit: I've been buying a lot of stuff direct from Warlord because their quality of service and speed of shipping as well as after-service kick all kinds of arse, even if I don't get a retailer 10% on some items.

This seems like a step in the right direction 2 me. I'll certainly be making a test order if they can get the BA range into a majority in-stock since I really wish I could like them, just doing that has been next to impossible until just now.

@Wayland folks - Is there, or will there be, an option to collect a website order at a store or Salute?
Edit: Also, the new customer service form requires that you pick an order reference from a list which is populated with data from the new site. That being the case, what method do you recommend for following up on an old order?

We are looking at the collection options, not just for Salute but for our expanding retail stores.

But fair enough mate, I respect you opinion. Spend your pennies as you see fit!

Well off to a better start - sorted my issue
Now let things settle down, and make some polite enquires in a few months and see if the supplier issues are better - they do have a great range....some obscure items such as wild west exodus they'll likely struggle on, but....I'll wait and see
Kudos
