I played him on day 2. His army was really nice from an appearance standpoint. All the bikes were converted from boar boyz. and he had his warboss on a giant dino that was absolutely awesome.
He had approx:

Zardsnark (spelling?)
Maybe another HQ? Another Bikerboss?
3x15 bikes: nob w/ pk

Big Mek: bike/killsaw
Warboss: bike/pk/lukky stikk
Painboy: bike
3x10 grots
5 Kustom Mega Kannons? (str 8 ap 2 small blast)

He went 4-0 day 1. He finished ~31 in battle points (85 out of 120 possible). I don't think he did very well on day 2. (I won our game)

Why don't you run mad dok in the tide. Grants fearless and Fnp to everyone in that formation.

So does a painboy and a Big boss Pole, and that does it so for 90 points less.

Pain Boy can't take a relic, he can take from "orky know-wots and/or runts and squiqs"

Mad dok also has a power klaw which could replace a warboss/ nob

Painboss + BBP + Klaw nob = 111 pts - still 50 pts cheaper than Grotsnik.

But i see what you mean. He's got much better protection against barrage than a regular painboss. Howeverm you do want him closer to the frontline to be able to strike. It's a bit more dangerous than simply hanging out of harm's way with a painboss.

Might be interesting to try it out, however. And Rampage might help if you get stuck in another horde!

Where are you seeing that the Painboy can take the BBP? I'm looking at the entry in the Ork Codex and it doesn't say he can take from the relics list.

The BBP goes on the Warboss that is part of the tide formation. It isn't on the painboy. But since you have to take the warboss already, I didn't include that in my calculation for FNP and fearless.

I took some good pictures of singles, and as promised, I will make battle reports (but first I need to finish my remaining LVO reports). I also will give brief reports of my team games with the Bully Boyz, although no pictures for those... sorry!

I gotta be honest, regardless of player skill, orks simply dont have the tools to win a major tournament. The new codex they gave us is borderline garbage compared to our old codex. I play tested against my friend who said otherwise, and the old codex won every game. And normally when I play the new codex its much closer to 50/50.

Its going to take tyranid levels of dataslates and formations/new models to make it to the top. Even reece who was jokingly confident about his chances dident place anywhere near the top. Not that I am saying he is some ork playing prodigy but he has more opportunity than most to practice and hone his lists against really competative stuff.

warhammer 40k mmo. If I can drive an ork trukk into the back of a space marine dread and explode in a fireball of epic, I can die happy!

I cannot disagree more.
This codex is a huge improvement over the last one.

How is a huge improvement ? There's a lot of cool stuff but I agree it's not nearly as competitive when the last one hit the shelves.

There was what, one decent unit? Nob Bikers.
The Army relied heavily on cover saves which were negated easily by every army. With next to no ranged anti-armour.
There was one half decent build at most.

Now pretty much every unit has a use. Multiple builds are viable, there are boosts across the board.

Lootas are always good. I don't play Orks but play against them a lot - always a great time. Ghaz with anything was pretty good too. Nobz in trukkz and BWs were great too. Orks won a lot of big events the first few years following the release of the last codex and it wasn't always NBs.

Comparing their last codex at the time of release to their current codex at time of release isn't fair. Because when their last codex was released, the power curve was moving up. When their newest codex was released, the power curve was moving down. Even still, their new codex is more able to compete with a modern meta than their old codex, and even if it weren't, we have what we have, and should do our best with it.

No idea what are you guyz talking about when saying orks are bad. Have you read his LVO batreps? Orks are rocking. And i'm pretty sure - it's not just GT that can do it. GT is just one of the best for specific LVO missions.

I find ork M...HU (multiple huge units) are doing great in maelstorm due to board controle.

I'm going to ATC. They are running really, really unbalanced missions. If green tide and decurion don't dominate, I will be surprised. 3 missions, #1 is board control + emperor's will + Relic. #2 is Kill points + more kill points + an extra helping of kill points. #3 is The relic + board control + kill points. Each missions gets run twice. The army comp precludes all forgeworld and non-codex LOW, so Green Tide should reign supreme, and Tyranids are a giant tax on any team that decides to run them.

I think that, in its heyday, that 4ed codex was better in 5ed then the 7ed codex is in 7ed. However, the 4ed codex was really suffering towards the end of 6ed.

As it is now, the new codex is just.....different. It's still good, IMHO, but not as good as say, Eldar or Daemons or Tau. Of course, those codexes have really been over the line in terms of power, and if they were to be toned done similar to how other codexes have been in 7ed, then Orks would be right up there in terms of being good.

My new list, which I am taking for Bugeater, is utilizing lootas (30 of em). So far, I have been really impressed with how they have performed.

Funny, I will likely be going to ATC this year, but I hadn't really looked at the missions yet. Oh gee, what a shame, I'll have to run my Orks again....

Holy crap Adepticon is already over? Bummer. Hey I am really interested in how your tank bustas stacked up. Are you running them in the gun wagons or footy? Again great seeing you at the LVO. I'm back on the ork band wagon thanks to you....

Also would anyone care to explain why killsaws on megas is a good idea?

Thanks,
G

They're specialist weapons, so +1 Attack, and all those attacks have Armourbane.

I wouldn't give it to the entire squad, the unit gets a bit expensive, but one member of the squad isn't a bad investment.

I hitched a ride on said wagon I imagine just to ensure the vehicle does get destroyed? S9 is good against most vehicles, but you can fluff. Killsaws also work againts LR (if you're ever against one )

I use two killsaws in each bully boy squad. If I fight adlance I charge one squad in each knight. Usually lose two but the remaining ten armorbane attacks virtually guarantee a knight kill.
