Say what you will, but I love the hell out of my overpriced box. Sure, my wallet did not appreciate it, but it was the best thing on the market to fit my needs: a way to pack away all my paints and tools quickly and easily into an attractive little box. I paint in my living room and the wife loses her if I leave all my stuff out.
That said, on topic... I am severely tempted to try this out. The zigzag foam may actually be able to store all my fiddly dark eldar and harlequin vehicles without them exploding to dust. I wish they had some specific foam tray measurements though. That's what's keeping me from dropping the cash.

I've been carting around my Ork Greentide in a fishing tackle for a while now. And not by choice. AoBR orks have really odd poses and don't fit in a standard 25mm slot. I am really tempted by the Skirmish case. The capacity of it and the price point have me nearly sold. Definitely going down to my FLGS next chance i get to check one out in person.

Hmm, these actually look pretty sweet. I may need to get one of the medium ones and move my Crimson Fists (my larger army) into it, and move my Blood Angels into my old case. Hard to say. My CF have more vehicles (One Stormtalon, a Drop Pod, three Rhinos, one LSS, two Land Speeders, a Dreadnought, and a Contemptor Dreadnought), but if the new box fits jump packs better, it might work better for my BA (which only have three vehicles, a Stormraven, a Predator, and a Rhino).

More expensive than battlefoam...? This is already £10 more than the medium citadel one, is soft covered not hard and looks like it holds less: http://uk.battlefoam.com/216-p-a-c-k-216-half-tray-standard-load-out-black/ Automatically Appended Next Post:

Does anybody know if WaylandGames' "free postage over £40" applies to these? It's contrary to the bulky item restriction (so the case can't go in Rhinos, either), but the free shipping promotional code doesn't need to be entered to get the non-tracked postage for free over £40. I'm guessing this is a failing of their checkout system rather than it being allowed, but it's worth finding out. If not, it'll probably be best to get one on eBay in a while, since eBay postage tends to be better for whatever reason.

Don't be silly. Games Workshop designers came up with zig-zagging lines all by themselves as a totally original idea, without any outside influence like existing zig-zagging lines (which they were totally unaware of).

Well, you are correct, of course. I can see incoming legal battle against makers of Bolt Action and Flames of War, who blatantly abuse GW's trademarked Linae Zigzaggum™® in their own marketing.

Wow! good job GW! I've spent a considerable amount of time researching miniture cases, I believe GW has done a great job with this newest line of cases and a great product even compared to the current market leaders in terms of both price and quality.
Although I haven't have the produce in hand yet. I can give a quick review of the pros and cons of the product from the product description and video provided by games workshop.
About the Foam:
GW has contiued to use their current exisiting foam material in this new line of bags. Those who are not familiar with it, it means the foam is EXTREAMLY soft! The foam itself does not offer structual support. They are not ideal for metal minitures. They need to be supported by hand at the bottom if moving a tray full of minitures. This type to tray uses the minitures itself to offer structual support, hence in the videos the cases are always full of models.
The benefits to this type of foam is they are soft to protect irrgular shapes such as pikes during transport. They save space so you can carry more models with a smaller size bag. The video mentions the tray are bigger than the case, meaning the foam is untended to squeeze into the model and hug it during transport. This provides more protecion than non custom made hard foams made by ie BF. The ziplog cuttings is genius for this type to foam. Although they dont offer the 100% paint protection as offered by BF, the design saves space, allow different sized models to fit together, prevent BREAKING of PLASTIC/RESIN MODEL (can't say the same for paint)
Another point about this case it will take longer than most cases to unpack and repark the models due tot he zip-lock style foam, making it less than ideal for 3 game tournaments.
About the Case.
This case only looks rigid, but it is no better than the current GW case offered. The material is only meets the minimun structual requirement to be used with the soft foam. The hinge will still break with extended/rough use and once its broken the case will be useless (there are no holes in the edge to put a lock or zip tie). This is nothing compared to the hard cases offered by BF.
About the price.
The price is INSAINLY good! I can't believe GW makes something that is below average market price. Each of the case offeres good value. But please do note the concept of value. These GW cases are very specific in what to carry and are not customizable! They MUST be filled with the correct type of models to offer the structual integrety it is intended for. Most cases requires a lot of infintry sized models with a few large models. or TONS of infintry models. It will simply not work in if you want to say take 3 stormravens and 2 droppods.
Lastly I want to say it is a shame there's no additional compartment for rulebooks and dices and your wallet/cellphone.
In summary
These cases are a great purchase if you have a ton of plastic/resin models. Make sure you fill the entire case with models prior to transport. Buy the correct size for your army. These cases will not last forever, either the soft foam to degrade (especially the glue) or the hinge will break. I figured a about 5 years of constant, weekly transport by public transport. These bags will not go on a plane! Dont bother if your army has a lot of metal models. the weight will tear the form right off after moderate use. Also the weight will made the case very unconfortable for transport. Don't bother if your models are golden deamon quality. the zip lock style foam will not offer the paint protection you demanded, but should still offer protection for models of good paint quality (ie those painted by duncan from GW).
I think this is THE BAG for a warhammer/fantasy army. meaning a large sized 50+ model army that isn't all golden deamon quality, great price point and get innovative ideas to fit A LOT of models into a bag without the added costs of custom foam.

These new cases are very intriguing, but I'm not convinced.
1. In all of the pictures with these new cases stuffed full of models, they're all right up against each other. Things are going to get damaged.
2. The foam is still, just like the former, not appropriate for vehicles.
3. The space does look like it's been effeciently used. Sure they pull a bunch of models out in the video, but they're mostly infantry.
I don't know... I'll have to see one in person. Until then, Battle Foam is in my opinion still the best product available, but I'm sure BF will release foam trays that will fit inside these cases. Perhaps the combination of the two will make for a great transport solution.

Ive been looking for a decent hard case for travelling with models that is not huge, and overly expen$ive. I have purchased a GW figure case in the past, and it was decent and held many models but only models on a small round base that did not have a lot of things projecting from the model (guns, banners etc). which was- disappointing.
If GW is clever the size of the foam will be the same size as used by other carrying case markets...

The cases look interesting...
But god help you if you have any of the following in your army and decide to try and use one.
- Back banners, trophy poles or other spiky bits sticking upward.
- Weapons raised above your head.
- Fidgety or delicate weapons extended beyond your base.
- Spikes. Seriously, that foam looks to read RIP Tyranids, Dark Elves, Dark Eldar and Chaos.

The stuff I linked to are camera cases. They cost a bit more, but have handles and wheels, the bigger cases can easily hold a couple of armies with their vehicles and come with a lifetime guarantee. I first saw them when some people I worked with brought them to a conference. They have flown materials all over the world in them with no damage to the case because these things are built like a tank.

When I saw these and watched the vid I gotta say I was kinda impressed. I know the vid is obviously them marketing themselves and so they loaded it with nothing but best case scenario models, I noticed the lack of DE, spiky chaos and nid models. However since I have non-spiky chaos, my DE aren't assembled yet and I don't play nids this is a non-issue for me. I like the theory behind the zig-zag pattern and how I don't have to cut trays to fit specific models. Lastly this is the first time in a long time that I've seen a new GW release and have been ok with the price. I don't have too much experience on buying cases for models but at a quick glance these seem to be fairly and competitively priced, not dirt cheap but not typical GW over-costed either. I must say I was actually fairly happy to open my wallet to give these products a try.
I've pre-ordered one of each case and once they show up I'll put them to the test starting with the skirmish case (I do a lot of smaller battles so this case is perfect for me 80% of the time) and I'll gladly post a review here if you guys would like some feedback before you look at them yourselves.

I've recently decided to step up from a cardboard box packed with foam, and I think that I'm gonna go with one of the medium ones of these. From the look of it, they're pretty good quality, and they have a nice appearance, as well. The price is really what does it for me, to be honest. The cases hit that Cost:Value ratio just right for me.

Ugh, been in Brook's threads for too long. I had to take a double take on that foam. (Emprah help me.)
I could see a vehicle like a rhino fitting but, then there would be awkward side spaces. This is a weird case for sure. However, the pricing seems okay.
I use a small carbine case with cut foam, I am trading it for a buddies pistol case.

What a curious time for KR Multicase to be celebrating some new case sizes with a buy one get one free offer. I'm sure it's purely coincidental.
Personally, I own a mass of small metal infantry, and several wildly abnormally shaped airships, so sadly these are not really what I need. I am pleased to see a serious upgrade from the old cases at a good price. I could see me picking one up if i was in town and fancied a nice present for myself.

Those are probably great for those in the USA, but GW isn't based in the US, and Planos/gun cases aren't available in the same way in the UK or most of Europe.
