Hello

I have been struggling with a space wolf Dreadnought that has its blizzard shield (3+ invun) it drops in via drop pod and causes absolute mayhem. I play Chaos Marines and I am struggling to find a solution to it. Just wanted peoples ideas?

Previous game I had Kharne go at it but failed miserably. I am thinking along the lines of a squad of terms with chain fists and combi meltas that walk in from reserve to combat but they go at Initiative 1 so I can't see this working either.

Any help is appreciated

Just...shoot it. Even IF it did make it into combat, it's still only pumping out three attacks. Two will hit on average (thanks Master-Crafted!), and then kill two marines? Not really an issue.

Just because it's a 3++ walker doesn't mean it'd not a Dreadnought. It'll die to enough shots either way.

Is it not 4 attacks on the charge with its shield counting as a melee weapon?

Anyway, i play quite armour heavy . I dont mind it killing marines but when it takes out defilers/vindicators/forgefiends it then becomes an expensive issue. I also time to time use a bastion, that doesnt last long when dreads around

Doesnt it only get the invuln when taking shots from the front?

Cultists? Hi, this is Dreadnoughts, you win.

A 20-man Cultist blob fearless due to Typhus, Helcult, or some other method is enough to bog it down for the entire game. Spawn would do the same thing, but you probably don't want to waste spawn throwing them at a dread.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

I didn't count it charging, as you should be getting the charge. It's coming out of a drop pod, after all.

As said above either tar pit it or get around to side/rear armor. Also watch your deployment so that you don't give him an easy spot to drop pod in and protect his flanks. If there is such a piece of terrain then deploy near it so he will either be out in the open or out of place.

<--- I play Khorne and cults alone couldn't charge it as they couldnt hurt it.

I wasnt aware of this.

that makes all the difference. So I simply need to deploy tactically and get him from the back

Thank you

You can still charge something even if you can't damage it.

Also, shields expressly say they never count as an additional close-combat weapon. If your opponent has been saying they do, he/she is cheating, or didn't read the entry at all. :-p

Same goes for literally any flavor of Storm-Shield or variants-thereof.

Except you seem to have not bothered to actually read the blizzard shield rules - they quite clearly have a CCW profile including the word MELEE in the special rules as well as an AP value...

So it does get the 2 CCW bonus...

No such rule. You are however allowed to automatically fail a morale test if you cannot hurt your opponent. So tarpit away!
